I appreciate your honesty and this field (Nontechnical roles) is not for the faint of heart. The higher you go the more emotional intelligence you need.
This was a great video. I am the same way. I like to keep learning and having new experiences. Doing the same thing everyday day without much variation in workload seems boring. It’s great for people starting out who want experience or don’t care to excel career wise or their own technical skills. You made the best decision for yourself and that’s what matters!

That's my goal as well in the future. After I gain enough experience, like 6+ years in the industry, I'd create a cybersecurity company that focuses on cloud security. Look at the founders of Fortinet. They were working in the industry for decades and then left and founded their own company and they're multi billionaires now.
I understand. Sometimes when I quit a high paying job, the first thing people would ask me "damn why would you quit this high paying job? Look at all the money you making" but they don't realize that it's not all about the money. Maybe I quit because of terrible management or colleagues or toxic work culture or simply I just need a break. Once you have the experience, you can always have another great paying job. Great video and good luck g 👍🏾

Thank you for this video. I really didn’t understand what Cybersecurity entails. I applied to a Amazon role that sounds just like the position you quit, except my background is in Compliance and I understand the foundations of Risk Management but I don’t have any technical skills or CS degree that the role is also looking for as the preferred skills. Now I understand that I should look into some technical courses on Coursera like SQL and Cybersecurity. Do you have any suggestions on how I should learn about technical processes?

Being a black man in tech in New York is... an interesting sociological adventure. I got my start working at smaller hedge funds in the Connecticut area (Stanford, Greenwich). They need you to wear multiple hats in those companies, and they are always seeking the latest and greatest solutions and technology. Be interesting thing that I discovered is that a lot of the founders have rich friends that are pursuing their own businesses. This gave me an opportunity to have more side gigs than I could handle. At this point in my career I'm working for a bigger company and I'm about to make the move from director to CTO. I'm sure more adventures await! 😁 I'm always psyched to see another brother delving deep into tech! Keep it going!
