Also I trust Pixie to make a good video that also isn't about scare tactics but that is really realistic about what's happening when these clothes are bought. Because scare tactics don't really work long term but, at least for me, statistics and stories of real workers and carbon footprint are what really work rhetorically

I'm ready !
i dont think anybody expects you to be fully eco-friendly. i mean even looking your anime and magical girl collections, you've really presented yourself online as a material girl. the problem isnt really about whether youre buying your collections second hand or not, it's your compulsion of buying so many little objects and needing to break down why you feel like you need them in your life. just the other day i was rewatching your old japan hauls and i was so taken aback by all the tiny little things you bought. you've really come so far since then. gotta give yourself some grace, those kinds of mindsets are really hard to shake, especially when youre so young
I really want a video with reliable, tiny, awesome brands each month to buy cute things from! There are so many out there and worth searching for!
The people disliking this are H&M excutives
Your fear of the extreme vocal minority kicking your door down for any possible mistakes is fully valid, (as it is for vegan/zero waste/ect influencers) but I feel the need to voice that what you are doing visibly can only be a good thing. Most of us understand that we are all _humans_ and not perfect. Thank you for standing up. 💖

Does anyone have tips on how to find out the ethics of Japanese fashion brands?? Because there are some small harajuku brands I usually buy from but I’m still not sure how they make their clothes. If you guys know of a blog or something that covers this, please let me know!!

This has been one of the trickiest things in my experience. My general rule of thumb is that if they don’t have any info available and you can’t find any statements about how they manufacture, I avoid. I really love Nile Perch and Spank! because they make lots of adorable hand made clothes that are also available online :) WC and Spinns also have “used” like upcycled, vintagey things that they then alter and add stuff to but they also carry lots of questionably manufactured clothes so it is up to what you are comfy with 💗

Etsy can be a good place to look for brands that are independent and often homemade. While it may not be from Japan, I've seen some really cool and unique clothes and accessories that fit with a lot of J-fashion inspired styles

yeah, it’s actually better if those clothes have a longer closet life (9 more months in the closet reduces the article’s carbon footprint by like 30%) so after they’re bought, it’s best not to throw them away for as long as possible

Proud of you Jillian! You've really matured into a truly conscientious young lady, I used to worry about your constant hauls, there's more to life than rampant consumerism :)
Oh I would love to see some look books and fashion content around your handmade clothing and also thrifted clothing
I STAY on Depop lol. I have a very decent amount of Killstar and about 95% is secondhand. I’ve also found that I feel a lot better when I have an outfit that’s full of small designers.🥰 (you probably know of her, but I soooooooooo think you should check out Nikki Lipstick! She’s body positive af, she loves EVERYONE and makes clothes for everyone ✨ I’ve been a long time dollcult member and every interaction with her is magical.♡)

Oh? Dollskill is good and supportive of all communities? This is news to me. Is that why they fired a girl when they found out she was a sex worker? Or when they denied promised PR to a girl when they found out she was disabled and in a full time wheelchair? Or when they stole countless amount of independent artists work? Dollskill is not a good brand. They treat customers like shit, and the woman that owns the company has been horribly abusive to anyone that disagrees with her.

You'll get through this!! Sending love!
Change is always a process and no one is perfect. (I'm currently in the process of going vegan so I know this stuff takes time and learning.) I'm happy you've decided for that path and I respect you even more now 😀🌈🌈🌈🌈
I'm so so happy to see you talk about this! I have been learning how to sew and have started making my own clothes out of thrifted fabrics (just found so many vintage barbie sheets that I'm literally going to die in!) And it's really shown me why clothes should never be purchased for super cheap prices.. Now most of my clothes are handmade or thrifted, it really helps that spank! And nile perch are my favourite brands!
IM PROUD OF U FOR QUITTING THIS AND SPREADING THE WORD ABT IT!!
You should also check out Lucy and Yak! On Good On You they're rated as "good" and they've got cute colourful jumpsuits and shorts and stuff
I thought the title was going to say "I quit fashion school"!!! AHHHH I ALMOST FAINTED
I’m not gonna lie, I was super into your hauls and lookbooks, but I mean, it wasn’t because of the stores you shopped from, it was because I was excited to see your taste and art in fashion💕
We love you pixie! You should show us clothes that you make and how you make them. You’re so kind hearted and sweet. I’m a trans gay boy and you have helped encourage me to dress kawaii even as a gay boy. I’ve been suffering from bpd for a few years and lived your story. Thank you so much, your a queen. Much love, -Ash A 🎀💖💕
when you initially start subbing to her channel bc of all the pretty colours -- and then 3 years later you still stick around bc she's smart and woke and bright and a good-hearted person who just makes you so happy
Also please have the dolls kill video be called the fall of the doll 😂
Pixie, you're like a Pokemon that started out adorable and just keeps evolving into something even better. I 💓 you
My biggest criticism of your channel was the (seemingly) endless consumption and I’m so, so happy you’ve ‘seen the light’ so to speak 😜
Make a vid on clothing brands you support please!!! (and if they sell plus size)
I’m trying to make more of the clothes in my wardrobe. And be conscious about where the fabrics and yarns I use come from. I’m also trying to just buy less in 2020.
Yay!!! I respect you a lot for making this change in your life 🌟🌈

Happy Yule Pixie! I hope winter break is serving you well
Check out Tuesday Bassen's clothing as well!! Locally made in LA and suuuuper super cute.
You are absolutely inspirational; ngl I've been more and more aware of the clothing and things I want to buy b/c of stuff like this. I think it was more subconscious and I'm so glad you're bringing more light to this. You go Pixie!!
I appreciate you doing this. You’re setting a great example for other fashion lovers.
Looking cute Pix! I've also been trying to get clothes more ethically. I manage to get a lot of stuff that was made in Europe (where I live) and second-hand, as well as hand-me-downs from relatives. Definitely make a dolls kill video!!
As a creator i perfectly understand your choice, i've been wanting to start my own bussines for years and just now i'm starting to sell some hats i knit by hand and some people is acting like hey we're friends can't you sell it cheaper to me and the fact is i'm already selling them cheap for the time it takes me... i don't understand people
leftist pixielocks theory good
I must admit that when I first started following your channel I watched mostly for hauls. Lately I've been trying to be more green/people friendly in my buys. It helps seeing people who I enjoy following doing the same. I'd love to see the fall of the doll video. Thrift store hauls and sharing eco and people friendly brands are definitely wished for
Thank you so so much for making this!!
Good for you, Pixie. 😍 To continue to see your growth as person is amazing. I absolutely LOVE THIS. You can still be you and not feed into that "abysmal machine". Bravo, Pixie - Girl. 😁

YES!!!!! This made me so happy. I see so many people making green changes in their lives and it is partially thanks to influencers who have changed their own habits. Whether we realize it or not the media we consume changes our brains and influences us in a bigger way than ever before. The small and big changes you make, help other people to make changes in their own lives.
You earned a new subscriber. Change what you can and not what you "should". As time goes by you see what else you can do. Nobody's perfect! Nobody has to defend themselve for not being perfect. Just be calm and keep on learning.
Goshdangit pixie!! I was scared to watch this because I knew it would motivate me to work on my fashion consumption and it did just that 😅 thank you for inspiring change!!
So cool! I am on that path too, going slowly ^^ thanks for all the resources :3

YOU HAVE GROWN SO MUCH thank you for maturing I love you Jillian! Definitely love seeing your latest creativity more than your past hauls and consumerism type videos!
Thank you so so much for making this video, and for showing your viewers that it's possible to shop sustainably and still have an alternative aesthetic!
