I did this about a year and a half ago but I stacked a 4” extension on top of the 10”. I purposefully choose a lighter weight knob as to not put a lot of stress/weight at the end of a long arm so it doesn’t want to fall out of odd number gears and it doesnt stress and wear the sycros and sliders. It definitely is smoother, easier, and a hell of a lot more fun to shift

I like it! But it's for short people! I am 6'-3 and my arm is as long as people's legs so I need a short shifter!!! For all the little people this is cool! FJB

Also the Strawberrita paint job is awesome ! You can paint the steering column no problem and for plastic just scruff it up and clean with isopropyl 91% alcohol before you spray the plastic and it will stick good .

You touched on it but I highly recommend the fuel bowl delete with the fass. It’s a PITA but worth it in the end, also a slightly better HPOP, and you’ll be good.

It seems like more effort than it might be worth. Especially when needing to grab a gear quickly. I'm glad you can go back to stock if you get tired of it.

Looking good big riggin, I had a bud light beer tap that I put on my nv4500 5 speed that was level with dash, so much easier to shift, it fell right into gear

Hey Ryan I would look at the fuel pressure regulator spring in the fuel bowl, it is notorious for going out and causing late starts like this

I’ve drove one with the stainless one and it was extremely high, your looks like a better in between height that looks more comfortable and u can hear the clutch rattle some thru it

IM A SEMI DRIVER IM 5'5" AND MY SHIFTER IS TALLER THAN ME LOVE YOUR SHIFTER THERES A JOKER KNOB ITS WHITE ,GREEN AND PURPLE I THINK IT WILL LOOK CRAZY ON YOUR TRUCK KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU DO BLESSING

As long as you have ruled out a high or low pressure oil pump I recommend a xdp gear reduction starter

I’ve had good luck using super glue to keep shifters from loosening. Not as strong as loctite, easier to remove and redo but strong enough to hold everyday too.

You should look into re doing your steering wheel. Chris fix has a great video how to wrap it with new leather. It’d look and feel awesome

I would drill and tape that shift knob future and deeper LoL 😂 better connection and feel I’m sure with less chance of vibration

Clean the plastics well. Degrease, scuff, alcohol, then adhesion promoter and sem fabric dye the appropriate color

You could get some lime green medical wrap for the stick shift. The stuff that sticks to itself, might look good 🤔

That new shift it's really cool hieght. That knob it's not good to drill hole top know best thing it is pull it out. That ford looks amazing looking

If it’s any colder than like 45 the ol 7.3 won’t come off cold at idle the radiators are just so big that they just run super cold unless your drinking I’ve drove mine one at -10 and even driving down the road barley came above cold and went right back to cold and high idle when I stopped

I had short shift throw on my zx3 focus and going to my brother's s10 from that felt like it was shifting to the dash to the floor like long throw lol

Also far as the temp Guage not moving it's more thn likely not thermostat could possibly be the coolant temperature switch/sensor on top of the thermostat housing I'd check tht 1st

Honestly many people ask why truck drivers have those extensions, being an otr truck driver your back is constantly under stress. Most people drive with no air in their seat and having an extension on the shifter helps straighten the back a bit.

How about adapting a knob off an actual semi, like off an 89 Peterbilt?

Put a nut underneath the knob and then tighten it up against the knob , it will not loosen up anymore ,, just cut the threads down so there is only like 2 threads under the jam nut…

So you sell it then take parts off before its delivered ?

That looks cool and fun in your pick-up but if I got in my Kenworth and had to deal with that all day I'd have to kill someone before the day was over, I drive in town and construction job's so it's a shit ton of shifting all day but if I was OTR still I probably wouldn't mind a tall shifter at all.. Have fun, be safe, keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down little buddy!

trade you a weighted shifter ball style for urs, mine was costume made at my moms husbands work.

Delete the fuel bowl I had a long start problem ended up being the fuel bowl had a tiny crack on it not enough to leak enough to notice by the naked eye but it was getting air in it causing. It to have trouble starting

I’m a truck driver and I promise the shifter extension does help find gears easier and in the long run helps with tennis elbow cause I have one on my g56 Ram too
