The mint stopped making copper cents in 1981. I heard that some 1982 cents are made of copper. Problem is, you have to weigh them to find out if they're copper. Makes no sense to me to take the time to find out if they are copper. Yes, copper cents are still circulated, just not made anymore.

Every time I search a box of cents, I still save every copper cent I find, and yes I do weigh all my 82's and 83's. Never found that copper '83 yet, maybe one day.

You can tell weather or not it’s copper by the way it sounds, no weighing needed. Fairly easy to identify.

Yes, cents are still money here in the US. they are no longer mostly copper they are zinc clad. However, pre 1982 the cents are 95% copper and 5% zinc.
"Blue label is black label with a blue label" That was what was said to me by the owner of the liquor store.

Great mail call! I love how copper looks too, it ties with gold for me. 1982 was the last year for copper cents. They made the switch that year and both copper and zinc can be found in that year.

Thanks for watching and for the info mate!
Other US Coins are the Nickel(5 cent) which was once the Buffalo Nickel and the pattern for Buffalo rounds and Gold Buffalos. Dimes, Quarters & Half Dollars (10c, 25c, & 50c). Pre-64, these were all 90% silver and the original US fractional silve. AKA junk silver, cobstitutional silver etc. Many varieties and others like silver dollars but are around but the numismatic value takes them out of the junk silver category. There are 35% & 40% coins as well during different time periods that can fall into the fractional silver category.

You have a VERY fine taste in spirits. Gold label is a rare treat for me.
Do NOT use a round file to sharpen a knife, and always sharpen them wet.
Glad it made it to ya OK. I thought you might melt the copper down into a bar. :-) We still use them in the USA, but now they are made of zinc.
That poker chip would be sweet but I live in the US. Currently I'm using a 1oz silver king Charles coronation coin to protect my cards. Those pennies are 95 percent copper but you can still find them in circulation even though the copper value is greater than the face value. New pennies are copper plated zinc.
Hey there. I was coming to the video for the copper commentary and I got some unboxing video for the first 13 minutes. My dad was a alchie so won’t be springing for any whiskey. That bottle would sit on my shelf until zombie apocalypse and be used for medicine or barter. Be safe. I know about warehouse work. Concrete wins.
Great selection of stuff here! what a lovely mail call, enjoy the blue label mate :)

Thanks for stopping by SP! I’ll be honest I’m very excited to crack open the blue label! 🥃
I can’t say I stack copper but I have around 100kg of the stuff in the shed. Will be scraping it tomorrow to buy some silver
That roll of pennies is about a third of a pound. I stack copper but I don't buy it. I look for scrap copper and pipe and such. I do have two 5 gallon buckets full of copper pennies. I used to sell pennies to my LCS for 2 cents each. Oh, invest in a good pair of scissors before you hurt yourself.😊
Great video as usual. Thanks for watching my knife video,s and the mention. A glistening bar of copper looks fab and feels wonderful in the hand.
Simply put pre 1982 pennies are made of 95% copper. After '82 the 1cent penny is made of zinc. If you get any 1982 pennies all you have to do is the ping test by putting the penny on your finger and hitting it with another listen for a long ring than its copper if not it is zinc. Half of 1982 pennies were minted from copper and the other half zinc. They are still circulating and are illegal to smelt as of today.
Curious, why do you always have your Whiskey / Bourbon Shipped? In the UK, do you not have a liquor store you can just go pick it up at? Was on a cruise last week and I purchased the drink package so I could sample all the whiskeys they had on the boat. Came across one I had not heard of before. It was called Buffalo Trace. Very smooth. When I got home, went to the store and grabbed a bottle. Might be one you'd like to sample in the future. Have a good one!

Expect to Self Rescue!! Let's go! Yes, the 1 cent are still circulated legal tender. We call them pennies. They have slowly reduced the copper content till now it is just a copper cladding (or maybe no copper at all!) Until the 2010's (approx) you could melt them down and the copper was worth more than a penny (alot more at some points during the copper shortages). There are many different designs of pennies and many people collect them all or specialize in certain kinds (there are 17 types in all! The most common or well know include the Wheat, Lincoln, Shield, Large, Indian head, Eagle and Steel {war}.) Even MS65 graded pennies are still only worth $20 but there are rare & famous ones (mint errors) that go for thousands all the way to the moon. 365 you may want to look through the 50 in the tube. There may be more than one type. Also the variations exist on the obverse and reverses.

They may do. I noticed several were 1976. It is possible that they are all 76, which would be amazing. 76 was the US Bicentennial so a whole tube of pennies from that year would interesting, if not valuable. Hmm a tube if cents on the Bi-cent-ennial... 😮

@@365DaysofSilversome years they had 4 or 5 designs on pennies at the same time. Hugely funny! They don't want coinage taken out of circulation, so they go ahead and make them collectible!

@@MrKiwi13605in 2009 they made 4 different reverse designs. The four stages of Lincoln's life. They are made of zinc. They commemorate the 200th birthday of Lincoln.
US copper cents weigh 3.1 grams and are 95% copper.
If it's one of those round file things for kitchen knives I wouldn't recommend using that for the Buck. I use a Work Sharp Field Sharpener and a strop, both are pretty easy to use. Copper can be cool. I have a few rounds just for fun. My knuckles get so dry this time of year and one of them the skin has cracked. Ouch. Expect to self rescue.
Think the pennies were until 1984...they are still circulated. However, very little copper

Copper is $4.60 a pound, that’s .28 cents an ounce. It’s better to invest in mining companies that mine copper than in the actual metal. It ridiculous to stack it because of the amount of space it will take up. Gold is more efficient to stack as an example because of its value. Wouldn’t waste my time or money with it. You buy enough copper and you’ll need a forklift to move around your house!!! lol 😂 lol 😂 lol 😂 and 🤣🤣🤣🤣
