Amazing when you watch someone who you think is arrogant and full of himself, and you find out he's the total opposite, to be a pro golfer and then doing these youtube videos and listening to him really shows how down to earth you really are.

I love Bryson now. He’s awesome

I met Bryson at a TOUR event in 2018. He’s a nice guy, and spent more time with fans than anyone else.

Could you imagine what the conversation would be if these rental clubs could talk? Normally being swung by Sunday duffers and Bryson comes along and swings them at tour speed+... They'd be saying OUCH all round long.

Not really. These are very current expensive Callaway Mavriks made for mid level golfers many of whom can smash 300 yd drives.

This is too real. Most of us can't go the fitted club route and have to adjust our game to the clubs we can afford or have access to. You consider that and then the courses the average golfer gets to play (again due to cost and access) and golf is damn hard for the majority of us.

All the clubs are modern Callaway Mavriks so hardly junky rental clubs. Most people would love to have these clubs in their bag. Kind of subtle ego by Bryson just how awesome he is above the average golfer when the clubs he was using were far from normal rental junk & are proud possessions by the average golfer. @@williammills8953

Note to self: my “normal clubs” are not the reason why I suck at golf.

@@robnutile4338as a former semi professional golfer, I can actually agree you need to get fitted, I used to be a 2 handicap and couldn’t make a cut on a mini tour then switched and got fitted and I immediately went to being +3 and made a few cuts on mini tours but wasn’t making enough money past bills and fees to cover travel and everything

I'm a terrible player, but a lot of this reminded my of my game. You get a great drive, miss your approach, chip shot goes long, your lag putt goes down the hill and you end up with a three-putt. Except Bryson managed to come back and get Even. Great content! I was surprised how well the driver worked.

The fact that Bryson makes these fun videos for his fans speaks volumes about his love for the game. It makes us casual golfers feel so connected. Keep up the good work!

This was such a cool experience for us to watch you struggle in a good way. This is how every round goes.

It would be cool to have a format where there were a ton of options for clubs and players had to bid what tee and handicap combination they would play from. Like I’ll play my own set from the PGA tees starting +5 vs stock set from the LPGA tees E vs rentals from the Member tees -2

I applaud you sir! The things you are doing here on KZread are things that will truly grow the game. You can reach a lot of young golfers here. It's good to see someone actually doing it and trying to grow the game. I'm sure a lot of guys are putting money into helping kids, but this is a way to reach a lot of people.

Love finding old clubs I never owned at a thrift store. Fun to see how they work. Especially ones I couldn't afford as a kid

Steel shaft Bobby Jones irons from the 40's, steel shaft driver & fairway woods from the 50's or 60's so they don't snap & even the Bobby Jones sand wedge plus the old blade putter from the 20's or 30's that has high loft so you have to lean your hands forward. Thrift store clubs mean nothing since you can sometimes get a half decent set for a total of 40 bucks. Need to stack him up against the players from the past like you suggest. He was complaining about the modern high end Mavrik rentals he was using that thousands of golfers happily have in their bags. Give him some real retros & THEN watch him complain!!!

This was a fun watch. I can't wait to see how low our boy Bryson can take it this year!

Really have a new found love for this guy since seeing these videos and collaborations with others, away from the main tours.

Affter hole 1, told myself ¨You can clearly beat Bryson, you bogey often.... all this time it was the clubs that have stopped you¨ .

Hes tailored his clubs to such an extent that anything vaguely "normal" messes with his head. Great challenge and shows that anyone can struggle with rental clubs

These were modern Mavriks so hardly clubs the average player would struggle with. Probably better in fact than what most people have in their bag.

Love this. Fun to watch. Always wanted a pro tournament with basic/non fitted clubs.

Really interesting to see his thinking process and how he adjusted to more variables. Shows how much thought he puts into the game. Really impressed with this challenge, Frankly I'd be scared it would ruin his mental state for a few weeks. I'd be concerned that the change in clubs and feel (especially putting) would have a knock on effect when he goes back to his custom clubs. What's noticeable is the change in variables leads to a small increase in shot variance, which means his approach shot was short, long, or left. Normally he'd be dialed into the pin and within 5-8 feet, here his approach left him chipping from around the green, the shot radius increased by a factor of 3-5, which then puts pressure on the chip shot, where he wasn't good and left some chips with 6-10 feet. An amateur would not make those longer puts, he showed that the difference with Pros is that once he had dialed in the putter weight, he made those tricky puts on the last few holes. A joy to watch his game. I wish I was healthy enough to get back on the course and mimic his thinking process. Hopefully he inspires younger viewer to pick up clubs and give it a go. ❤

Luckily KZread exist, otherwise no one would ever see Bryson play golf.

Correction the point of this is not. If you get new clubs, it's if you get clubs fitted to your swing. You could even use the current clubs you have but of course new clubs bring new technology... But That's a different conversation

I find it so interesting that a top pro who has already acquired generational wealth loves the game so much he puts such effort into this channel and also takes so much time with other KZread golfers just to expand the game.

I love watching your KZread videos. You have given me the want to get back into golf. I have not played for a few years but now i am wanting to get out there and get back to where i used to be. Starting playing golf in high-school just because you out of school early. Starting as a freshman and got to scratch as a senior. Never had custom clubs but now I am looking into a set. I have always trusted my Callaway X-12s and its hard to let them go.

Massively impressive to switch out the most confident part of your game for that club-issue set. Just goes to show how much of a pro you are, man; that the carpenter can still produce quality, even when you take away his personal equipment. Cheers! 🤘

"Those rental clubs that Bryson is using from a golf course in the BAHAMAS that probably costs hundreds of dollars $$$$ per round and is not open to some random high handicap player has premium rental clubs for their guests while dirt cheap poor public courses in the middle of nowhere Missouri has bad clubs??????????????????????". Lets use our critical thinking here Justin Green 4450, if your courses in Missouri charged more per tee time then they could probably get some nice rental clubs, most country clubs are going to have nicer rental clubs because they have reps and contacts to get nice things and also have a budget to fund them. Do you practice to make nonsense posts & insult or is this just who you are? Rentals vary. My little executive course offers new Titleist forged irons, the latest woods, putter etc & a near tour grade Titleist bag all worth $3,000. They have an in with Titleist & get the rentals as promo for free. Most courses are going to have decent rentals since they want their guests to have good experiences. High end courses will get free or inexpensive promo rentals. Some courses have junk but that is becoming more & more rare when in the past it was the norm. Our very nice muni courses that play like higher end courses used to have dented up junk you'd pass over at Goodwill but now offer high quality non random sets. What a high & mighty ego you have to talk down to Justin. Volunteer yourself to leave the internet & do everyone a favor!@@johnallen6125

Idk, personally I disliked him in the past when he started doing the weird putting style, started going to tournaments trying to hit every drive 400 and then said Augusta was a par 67 for him. But since then I’ve really grown to like him, him having KZread how’s his true personality and how good of a person he is, I think people haven’t seen this side of him so they just go off what happened in the past

Very impressive and Bryson's chipping did improve a bit over the 9 holes as he got more used to the clubs. Love Bryson's positive attitude and he doesn't beat himself up over missing the odd putt.

Brysons passion for the game is intense, really changed my opinion about Bryson for the positive now that i've seen a few videos, top man indeed!! Did I calculate it correctly on hole 9, 440yds with 170 to the pin and he hit a 5iron off the Tee making that shot ....... 270yds ...? insane.

I'm not surprised with how this went. Driving and long irons, while important, are mostly based off your form, so rentals will screw you up but not completely ruin you. Meanwhile, putting and chipping are all about precision. The slightest variable change can have huge effects on your game. It's why Bryson struggled so much at the beginning. However, at the end of the day Bryson is a world class athlete, and you could feel him adapting as the round progressed. Give him a week or two of practice with these clubs and I'd bet he'd be amazing. Maybe not as good as with his fitted clubs, but still amazing.
