“Vicky Tree”
Back in 1.0 and 1.1 i pitched Persia to people as a great beginnner nation because they start with almost every resource they need, and lots of opportunities. Patches have made it harder because you can't trivially get out of tennant farming+slavery anymore, but it is still a really nice country to play once you get a hang of the game.

for it was japan where i was able to learn most of the mechanics, it's isolationism allows you to experiment without the fluctuations of the global market and see the results

Tenant farmers is better than serfdom, and Britain sometimes will solve the slavery problem as long as you aggressively expand. They’ll either war to open market, or to end slavery if they get involved in one of your wars.
Super stoked to finally see another Vic 3 video from you after so many months, with the big 1.5 update releasing as an open beta literally tomorrow I hope we can continue to see it every once in a while on this channel!
potato: As you can see my people are dying from starvation and moving away also potato: Im not building hospitals just yet because it costs money
Potato "I don't have the Authority to do the Greener Grass campaign, so I'll drop the Tea Tax" I could hear the sound of Spiff cheering this decision, faintly, on the wind
I know a lot of people don't love Victoria3, but I have over 1500 hours in game and love it. I honestly havent played civ since it came out, and civ was what made me sub to you. I am pumped you are playing this again beyond the japan campaign and now is the perfect time to capitalize. A lot of people are leaving it behind and hopping off the hype train, leaving poor souls like me searching for content.

@@tijmenwillard2337 usually when I get off work or on the weekends, ill sit down and fire it up. Its easy because of the pause feature and that it doesnt require every single point of your attention. Ill have YT or a movie on my second monitor, and a game open on my main monitor. I get a client that calls me or a work related call, just tap pause. Before this, id pushed civ to 2800 hours before the release of Victoria. If I knew how to edit, id honestly make videos. My game knowledge is VAST. I go live all the time for my job and would love to transfer that telent set to video series of countries.
Loving you from Iran. Thank you for playing my country recently in civ and victoria. ❤

Nice video, I usually struggle quite a bit in the early game with these less-developed countries and this has given me some good pointers on how I can improve my start. A minor thing that really bothered me right at the end was however, that you built a whole bunch of farms and ranches in Khuzestan where there were literally 19 dudes available to work them. Might be a little too early for that heavy mechanisation. :D

Absolutely nothing wrong with over building, it allows a TON of immigration from "unfilled jobs" so as long as you have a decent pop to feed off of i.e. multiculturalism/culture exclusion + mig control or no mig control and boom, you now have the highest migration state in your market simply from unoccupied jobs.
I also love Persia start in victoria 3 but I don't disband my army. Instead I use it to puppet most other central asian countries once my relationship with Russia, Uk and Otoomans is above 20. Staying under 25 infamy mostly edit: Also, 1 tooling industry+1/6 of an Iron mine I believe equals 6 logging camps because of better PMs, which saves you wages and pushes your tech ahead

38:50 The recruitment efficiency scales with the building level, where each building level can benefit from each other. If you have 1 level 20 base, you gain a total 20*20 recruitment, whereas 20 individual level 1 bases would only have a total of 20*1 recruitment.

Yea but theres a huge drawback to building it all in one place; if you don't have much population there, you can't fill it. If you have a civil war or invasion you can lose your entire fleet in one go.
@TheDirtyShaman

@@nocensorship8092 You shouldn't build any military or navy bases in underpopulated areas, unless you have no other choice. Your units and vessels will be unable to refill fast enough in combat and severely hamper their capabilities. If you are afraid of civil wars, then build the largest stack in your capital, as your capital state will never flip in a rebellion.
So excited for this, I learned so much from your explanations! Got inspired to play Vicky 3 myself. Not as much luck in my own game xD cant wait for episode 2 if it ever comes..
Part 2 when?
Great video! I hope to see more Victoria 3 from you. You’re fun to watch and I’m learning a lot
I've been craving more Potato Vic 3 since Japan, yayy~
Love this game and your videos so always a joy to see a video like this on the timeline
Great video and explanations, really enjoyed
I almost exclusively play Portugal when I dip into Viccy3. Would be cool to see what you would do with it. I like the focus on colonizing, conquering the gold producing states in South Africa and then making vassals in madagascar, the horn, arabia, persia if you're feeling frisky. Rushing quinine a few tech upgrades and malaria prevention to get those central african states with lead. Sadly I never get to pivot into conquering brazil and joining the crowns, though in one of my last runs I slapped the brits around for some land which was cool.
Awesome to see you coming back to Victoria 3, really fun game and I loved your content in it
Super exited and want to see more of your vic 3 content.
Haven't played this in awhile but I haven't seen much of anyone else playing this so I never knew how good my strategy was. Surprisingly similar starts downgrading military and getting quick construction sectors. I think I went early academia with Persia as well but then quickly turned to mining, advanced tools, and railroads, definitely pushing for a faster industrial start. I think I had a bit more money issues but I dived into some early trade, paper mills, filing cabinets etc. To right that ship. Please do more Victoria, I can't believe I'm saying this as I haven't picked this game up in awhile. Tempted to do so though!

Love to see more V3, it’s a particularly soothing Potato recipe
I look forward to more of this game.
Paradox should have paid you for this video. What with the Strategy Weekend on Steam too.
YAY! Potato does Vicky 3! The amount of happy this brings me is great!
A tip is to apply the coal light PM in a urban center and then build a coal mine, its useful to quickstart industrialization

Awesome to see Victoria 3 videos from you!
I feel like I understand how to play this game better after watching your video on it! Thank you!!!!
Very fun video! I'd love some more Vic 3 vids here and there. Just a little tip. Never go low taxes in the beginning. It's much more effective to raise your SOL through creating jobs and for that you need tax money before you get tons of investors. Taxes as an SOL tool are really only usefull once lowering them will expand your investment pool, and most of your pops aren't peasants anymore that'll starve regardless of taxes.
Best to build all of most of the construction centers in one place to start. By mid game with economy of scale the bonus is great
Always love to see vic 3 content
Haven’t really looked into V3. It does appeal to me, but the learning curve seems SOOO steep (although that didn’t stop me from CK3 and EU4). Excited to see a play through of it though!

I would love to see more Vic3 here!
"It's like that Community episode..." Hell yeah
Hell Yea ! Victoria 3 !
I think the deal with navalbases is that the recruitment gets a boost from throughput and throughput is increased by the size of the building, among other things :)
Persia is in a really fun spot for vicky 3, I've only had a couple playthroughs in that game but Persia was definitely the one I enjoyed the most
I love playing Persia. Watching to see if you do something different than I do. Was this before or after the change to infrastructure for construction from 0.2 to 2? because infra is a big issue for persia.
As for riding the zero debt line, that is a good strategy for minor or unrecognized nations. Great Powers don't pay much interest on their debt though and so can afford to go into debt for construction. You just want to make sure that the deficit is increasing slower than the debt ceiling (which scales off of your rank and economy, so building more industry means also raising the debt ceiling)
I love playing Persia also! Awesome
I'm not near smart enough to play these kind of spread sheet games but i appreciate people who enjoy them. always so enthusiastic about them.
Back to back Persia games
Victoria 3 seems like my exact kind of game. For now, I’m content watching KZreadrs while I wait for all the DLC to come out and for the game to get properly balanced. Then I’m gonna snag everything during a steam sale for sun $20 :)

It's going to sound weird, but id honestly get the game after the next DLC drops, because these kinds of games have so many mechanics to learn once they're "complete" so it's really helpful to learn the base first and then slowly add all of the mechanics that come with new DLC.
I think it would be a great idea to do a tutorial as a smaller or more vulnerable country, one that even experienced players would struggle with, such as Greece or Bavaria or one of the Algerian states, showing players how to get the absolute most of of the absolute least, and how to win against much larger countries. Vicky 3 is one of those games where power imbalances are really hard to overcome.
looking foreward to the next episode, this 'guide' was very usefull. I've always like the qajar empire however everytime I got to like 1860 someone like Russia or Great Britain would attack me and I would have to restart. However using this video I'm a lot stronger even without conquering my region.
Greetings from a citizen

So is it the ports or ships that do trading like if you sell arms to America to get the guns theee you have the port or ships for the port
my man is on a persia SPREE! 😊
I've had a lot of fun playing as Egypt and Peru-Bolivia. It helps A LOT that they have all the resources they need, yet still have to play smart in order to expand. I wish it was easier to play as a smaller country and not hit a modernization wall so quickly, or that playing as anyone in the vicinity of Prussia didn't guarantee constant war until the AI finally gets its unification. The difference between a sleeping AI and an impossible AI is razor thin.
i enjoyed the video and made a play along version to go with your gameplay. i am about 5 years behind you with about the same results. i hope you decide to continue the series. i seem to be a terrible vicky 3 player. :)
Hope you do some more vids after the open beta
Glad to see that im not the only one that completely disbands their army before turning on the clock lmao
please make more of the vic 3 content
Is there any way to adjust the display? I’m asking because it is so small that almost everything is unreadable if watching on a large tv. I’m guessing the same for mobile watchers too. Thanks! ❤
In a way, it's the perfect title. It is click-bait-y, but at the same time, it doesn't reveal the contents of the video before you actually watch it, which usually makes you keep scrolling, since you already know what happens...
Just bought Vic 2 cause it was on sale and now potato decides to play Vic 3 just to show me what I'm missing
Great video, where’s the sequel?
What I did with persia is some immediate day-1 wars to take a bit of land off what neighbors I can. Your starting army is usually enough to kick the teeth in for most of them and this can be done while ramping the early economy. Then you can disband if you want once aggression become untenable
It would be fun to watch your video with the 1.5 update
I wish u could continue this part
Cool game Potato!
More please
I know nothing about this game but this was still very interesting to watch. Also makes me want to try it out now
Good video. I might have to give Persia a try. I've only played as Japan. A lot of the things that you did I did in that run. Cut the military, focus on construction and then try to change your nation. And hope that Russian doesn't hate you.
Only in a game will even more bureaucracy increase efficiency!
Plz be more videos from Victoria 3 and Persian🙏
Yay Vicky 3!
I love this game but it desperately needs nation missions like EU or Focuses like HOI to add more character. As it stands every nation feels the same to me aside from a few European nations and America. Gonna keep playing it off an on I just with there was more to sink my teeth into.
please do more vic 3 conent
Imagine wanting to build an industrial economy and then switching from interventionism to agrarianism. Lol. Lmao even.
Just curious if anyone has compared slowly building up a wood based construction economy (like this video) vs rushing an iron framed economy in vic 3 and which one creates a more healthy economy after the early game?
@pedrolmlkzk
9 ай бұрын
I haven't properly played the game in months but I remember thet building iron mines is way better than wood for gdp growth
@nejcj1
9 ай бұрын
Well, it kinda depends on bunch of stuff. First your starting technology and building. Obviously if you are more advanced its easier to skip the wood phase. If you are big bu not advanced enough you can even mitch and match. The other big thing is how aggressive you play. If you push everything to the limit, one small thing that wont your way just might start the domino effect....
@pedrolmlkzk

i made the math and the results for the construction methods are as follows (considering base prices): 1.£2000 for 2 construction points per month 2.£3600 for 5 construction points per month 3.£5400 for 10 construction points per month 4.£7900 for 15 construction points per month so it's always better to improve your construction method
At 50:00 you literally planned construction of at least 10 buildings, wheat farms and livestock ranches, in a province with 13 labores hehehehe, the same province you just have built a bunch of ports
