It's hard to explain, but basically the first hit of the rekka ACTIVATES the tentacle, so you have to manually time/delay the second hit to hit it. Hard timing to describe without technical knowledge

06:59 It seems you were right, judging by the gameplay showcase. It looks like she has some kind of command grab for opponents turtling on top of a tentacle. I have no intention of playing neutral with her, but everything else seems a lot of fun if I can fit her into a team.

you know, I think she should have her soul steal move, I think it would be sick to grab your opponents soul and kinda just start whacking at it while your opponent tries to stop it from hitting them, either as a super or something because it is one of her more iconic moves and you should try to incorporate iconic moves somehow in games like these

Do the tentacles only effect grounded opponents?

Tentacle grab is only grounded obviously, but no, the attacks can hit aerial opponents. If it's on wakeup and they are holding up they cleared it though, so you need an assist or buttons to lock them down

You might not say it, but I will: she needs armor AND a command grab. They would really fit her whole "always keep moving forward/never stand still" thing to be able to keep swinging through a hit and/or punish opponents for standing there and blocking.

I am surprised they didn't give her either of those because of how they tie in to her personality, but she still seems like a lot of fun, and I'm really looking forward to trying her out at some point. One of her tentacle attacks seem to have a command grab attached. Check the rooflemonger video on the blockstring against Yasuo.

It's stupid that people know the name of the character more than the name of the game. You have to make us listen to Obama, make them change the shitty name, let them know every time they invite you haha.

0:56 i know the number notation was invented to try to simplify things but ive always hated it. when you say 3C it assumes 1p side, but when you say down forward C im good regardless of orientation. but i guess were stuck with 123 whatever now.

but... it's the same thing? 3 is down forward. And pretty much all of combo notation assumed you were on p1 since forever. From the arrows to the ones that show the stick doing a quarter circle or something.

@@nahuel3433 do you think all of these new lol players know that p1 has been the default since 92? when you instruct you need to be as clear as possible. forward back up and down are clear directions in regards to you and your opponent. 123456 assumes knowledge that brand new people most likely wont have. plus, writing DF>Jab or QCF>Punch is not many more characters but its way more descriptive.

@@thejunkmanlives These new lol players can learn something that even early players of the genre could grasp quickly. There are a billion more things a tag fighter like this one has that are way harder to learn. QCF both also does not cross language barriers and requires you to know exactly what it means, which is more of a problem with unconventional stuff like tiger knees. It's also not as intuitive as you think. What does "forward" mean. Where my character is facing? My forward aka up? I started on right side my forward was going left, then does it remain that way? New players will have difficulty with all of these things, they'll have to learn regardless of what method they use. And your "descriptive method" invites some unneded messiness. DF Jab? What if the animation of my character isn't a jab? WTF do I press?

@@nahuel3433 directions and buttons arent difficult. and if you cant figure out forward in relation to a fighting game we have bigger problems. why would a language barrier matter? really. the joke is, in sf4 it was directions and a button all over srk.

It's so nice to see a fighting game dev decide not to stink up the genre with yet another game where the characters are animated at 8 or 12 fps. Hopefully this opens the door for others to realize that that choppy trash doesn't need to be in EVERY anime game and instead use this style of smooth fluid animation.
