I don't live there anymore, but I grew up in SoCal. The details are so tiny yet so impactful, that the world of San Andreas feels like a real place, and that's why after 10 years, it's still a great game to play. It always feels like coming home to a friend, and it's these details that make that happen. It gives us a sense of familiarity and longing when we aren't there. I play other games but always find my way to GTA. The next game is going to be a masterpiece as well. Just think about all the things they've learned from GTA V and will be able to implement. I'm in no hurry, but I am anxious to see the new world waiting for us.
Imitating real life really helps immersion. That's one of the lowkey awesome things about GTA5. Not just replicating LA, but also the subtle details in the nps, from the variety of people to even the animals.
Wow, Andrew, storytelling here is just amazing. You guys rock! The part with lambo - switching between real-life and game footage is so engaging. Keep up the great work. I know how hard it is to produce high quality content and spend enormous amount of hours at one video, but in long term perspective - it is so wroth it! Wishing you guys all best!

This is one of the best researched “in real life” videos I’ve seen on YT that didn’t come from a multi-million dollar budget cable show (even compared to that it’s much better!). Many props for going out and finding all this. I’ve been stuck in Palm Springs for the past two years and even played through GTA V in that time and didn’t even make the connection to the tram. As a software engineer myself, it gives me a headache just thinking about how much work they have to put into this level of detail (and that’s not even on the software side), game development is so much more involved than movies or tv could ever be now! That’s why we have to wait a decade between releases now. I sure hope they don’t forget about my favorite game series ever - Red Dead Redemption, just because GTA is a gigantic cash-cow (well deserved though). Rockstar is amazing. Sometime it does worry me how stuck you can get into a world like this. I can remember 20 something years ago playing GTA 3 when I was 16 and after a few nights of wreaking havoc, I’d go out driving and be tempted to start running over people on the sidewalk. Lol

At 6:49 what the game calls Mount Chiliad is called Mount San Jacinto, located in Palm Springs. I actually visited the aerial tramway when I was on vacation in Southern California once and seeing it referenced in GTA V and in this video is awesome! The view from the top is spectacular of course but what’s really amazing is the climate difference between bottom and top. Mount San Jacinto is 10,000 feet tall, the tramway starts at a base elevation of 2,000 feet and ends at 8,000 feet. At the bottom it was 110 degrees, at the top 70 degrees. Just think about that for a minute! In the span of an altitude difference of 6,000 feet the temperature difference between bottom and top was 40 degrees! Amazing, isn’t it? Anyway, cool video. The little details are just awesome and amazing. No matter how many times you play it there’s always something new to be discovered, something you never really paid much attention to

Wow, the advance arrangement of this route and the correspondence between the game and the real scene require a lot of editing and time. It's amazing, well done.
It’s literally games like GTA V and Marvel’s Spider-Man that makes the game feel more immersive with the smallest details. It feels like you’re actually touring LA and NYC from your home!

@@JS-ix6hr the whole point you play a GTA game is becuse it’s supposed to be silly and cartoonish and you just run around a functioning society and just making a mess it’s almost a release for some ppl or just cool to just ride a tank.with multiple big open sand box environments that’s what made GTA well GTA.i domt like in V you simply punch someone and a cop comes shots you in one shot and ur dead to realistic I preferred the cop battles with CJ where you lasted longer on six stars than you did with 2 stars on V.
That “get off my property or I’m calling the cops” is the equivalent to “STOP SHOOTING ROCKETS AT MY HOUSE”

Hey man this is awesome, ive never been to LA so i have always been curious to know how everything in the GTA map compares to the real thing. I live just outside LA, and I have visited a lot of the places in the game. Its raw and real, and allows a lot of people who dont live here to experience it as if they were right here.

Amazing content man! I’ve been playing a lot of gta this year and I’ve always wanted an updated video comparing the cities!! 😁😁
the level of detail is nothing short of amazing and i do really appreciate the effort.
I was recently in LA and it was going to all the places I’ve been to a thousand times in GTA! Rockstars did a fantastic job of cramming as much as possible into their miniaturized version of the city!
I can't believe there is a city based of GTA V
This takes "Touching Grass" To a whole new level
I love this video. I actually felt confused as I could not distinguish between the game and some of the footage when I first saw it. Kudos to you for uploading this.
Great video! This has blown my mind how much effort they went through. After years, I've came back to the GTA V story recently and have been addicted all week... Now I have a good PC build I can appreciate it smoothly and at its best quality. But I've been sucked in to every small detail and just wandering around looking at things within the game. Seeing this video is crazy, makes me appreciate it way more.

For someone who lives on the GTAV map irl [just opposite the bunker in North Chumash, if there were houses on that side of the GOH], this map and all the details are absolutely mind-blowing. I remember several years ago [pre-pandemic] driving from Palm Springs to San Diego past the Salton Sea and I was like, wait, stop, that is the gas station next to Trevor's trailer!?!

Making all of the landmarks was a bit easier I’m sure because they did it once in 2008 for Midnight Club LA
I went to LA last week and really only enjoyed it due to the nostalgia of sniper fights on Santa Monica and the fact that i felt I new my way around due to spending so much time in game whizzing around on a Bati 801
these details is why i love driving aroung and exploring places in the game
Me who can’t even notice the difference between the game and irl footage cuz this graphics is really a head of its time
I still don't understand why this video doesn't have more than 10 million views. Is perfect
Still waiting for you to play Grand Theft Auto IV in Real Life. I'd love it if you put the same amount of passion and dedication into putting this much effort in comparing Los Santos and Los Angeles side by side, the same way with Liberty City and New York City. The Land Of Opportunity awaits your welcoming visit.
I live in the Los Angeles area part time, I'm mostly around the port of Long Beach for work. The amount of detail that Rockstar went into really is that deep. And for the record, most of the LA area isn't nearly as clean as the game is except for places like Orange County.
1:15 Is that the ship that blocked the suez canal lol
Can’t even imagine how much time it took to edit the whole thing🔥🔥🔥
It’s both easy and hard to create those details. I’m a new dev working on my first game but have been part of the industry for well over 20 years. Learning the fast way to world build is the first thing I learned. Some of the things you’re marveling over are the easy things to base replicate. Others deserve your praise because it required deeper than surface level. I won’t spoil it for your further than that. I love the reaction to the hard work. Rockstar definitely lives up to its name.
honestly an amazing video for what sub count u have. love it man, and i can see u put to much effort into it.
we are waiting for part 3
its nice that they made an whole city based on a game
These "small" details adds to the immersion by a lot. People just don't notice it consciously, but in the subconscious realm, everything adds up.
To be honest, i was expecting a simple comparison and some images and such. But it turned out to be much better. I can't imagine the effort you put, very nice.

I remember going to Santa Monica beach in LA and being astonished with how much the game copied. They literally copied individual houses down to details such as what colour the stairs were.
I frequently see like a storage house roof, highway or bridge in a movie set in LA and I immediatly reconise it from GTA 5. I've never been to LA but I reconise so much of it, kinda crazy how many people now reconise a lot of LA.
