FGO basically a visual novel with a bit of gameplay, story/lore are their selling point.

I am not sure why chat was doubting Morgan’s effectiveness in Camelot seeing as she does bonus damage against everything in that story chapter

Highly recommend reading the story or just listening to someone read it cause it's great. Also, because the NA version follows JP and they are almost 2 years ahead of us, you can easily plan on how to spend your SQ so I do recommend looking up the upcoming banners, especially since you like Morgan cause she is on rate up right now and she has two more banners in the future. You should not miss Oberon too cause his next banner outside of GSSR is in like a year and a half, morgan has a banner again in December I think

dude if you are not gonna read and play the chapters at the same time, don't bother reading the story, later in the game you are not gonna undestand what is happening with only the text or only the fights and the boss fights are really fun later in the game, epecially with the feelings of the moment

Once you reach Lostbelts, you'll go "the gameplay get a bit boring, but there is no way i leave the best written stories of this decade"

@@danielnugrahawira7132 hmmmm.... 2 and 3 aren't really good I think especially after Lb1 strong delivery, 5.1 centered the story around the characters so it just felt different in a good way and then there's 6 taking it to a whole another level. then again it's just my opinion.

There are almost certainly a few story summary posts on reddit that you can read as a stand in for the actual story. Also Euryale is probably your best Camelot unit.

You should definitely start reading the story for FGO. There's a reason why when you progress the main quest/story, there'll going to be more arrows in those chapters with nothing but dialog and less battle.

4 year player here and I'm glad you're enjoying the game! The game has its ups and downs, but the most important thing is that you're having fun with it. The story is a big commitment and if you do find a way to get to it, then I can't wait for you to catch up soonest, my fellow Master. Goodluck and have fun with the rest of your journey!

So interesting seeing new player's perspective on the game after playing myself for so long. Happy to see you're enjoying the game! Hope you can make the story work for your needs. While some earlier chapters (and a few notable later ones) aren't super great, the better chapters really shine and are some of my favorite stories in the fate series.

Playing FGO while ignoring the story is the equivalent of randomly throwing dice without a board game.

"Nagiko is cute" *Heian beeeaaam!* Anyway. Kagekiyo is a monster; just having an avenger in general is really strong for those demon pillar fights, but Kagekiyo is also an amazing servant to have in the anchor position once you level her skills. She has 100% saved my bacon in multiple boss fights since she released. She can solo most fights in the game. (Barghest is similar, an absolute solo monster; sounds like you've already found how useful Koyanskaya is).

I’m glad you’re enjoying the game. But if I were to say one thing which almost everyone else here has already said by now it’s please do not skip the story. Skipping the story means you lose out on over 50% of the content FGO has to offer. While yes the very early chapters are still pretty bad, Camelot and beyond are amazing (besides Agartha, fuck Agartha). The most recent Lostbelt released, Lostbelt 6 is one of the greatest stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I have yet to find another gacha that has more hype moments than FGO. Not to mention a majority of the characters you have you learn about in the story, and without the story you won’t understand who they are and why they’re great. I’ve had plenty of characters I’ve written off at first glance but after seeing them in the story have become some of my all time favorites. Also people will watch FGO story playthroughs, I watch a multitude of them and am always looking for more people to experience the fantastic storytelling FGO has. Because in my opinion if you skip the story you might as well just not play FGO at all.

Taira is a extremely strong (if not the best) solo/anchor servant, congrats on summon her.

thank god they added pity to the game. i remember dumping 1000+ sq on the first summer musashi banner and getting nothing but 4 star ces. thankfully i managed to get np2 on her rerun. now you don't have to worry since there is guarantee at 330 pulls

At least you didn't dump 2200 SQ on the first Hijikata banner and 1300 SQ on his second and getting 0 copies of him. Had to roll on the 3rd one shared with Okita Alter, got NP5 in 1200 SQ plus one Okita Alter. But still, 2 years and almost 5000 SQ, yikes.

Yeah no, both Saber and Rider Astolfo are quite bad.

I love the story, and think even though the watch time of like 9 hours is intimidating. If you read it as you play, its devided into digestable pieces.

Honestly after getting into the final released content on NA, I speedran the JP server with multiple SSRs and getting to the third part of LB6 in just under 34 days. Most of which were spent on me catching upto the translations so as to not get spoiled in detail. For example, I finished the singularities in three days. One day each for every EoR and two days for one LB. Its like a fun dash down memory lane.

I'm glad you got Koyanskaya... she's actually a Meta-defining servant. Have you made use of the special ascension which you get in the first 90 days of the game? where you can get a single servant to their max ascension without XP or materials? a 5 star gets leveled to 80, 4 star to 70, etc?

ahh Camelot, the chapter where the game slaps you conscious with class affinities, skills, and np effects :)

Stumbled on the video by mistake. Really glad to see new people still try and love Fate. Honestly I can understand wanting to skip story cause I skipped most of the event story and Epic of Remnants but this game is 30% story 10% gameplay 60% husbando/waifu. I would recommend just watching/listening to Otaku Daikun story expiations seeing how it’s just someone telling you the events that went on. But you should definitely at least start reading Camelot and Babylonia and all the Lostbelts so you don’t feel discouraged about the long amount of time you have to read said story. Good luck with continuing the game !

playing fgo for pure gameplay is a mistake, you'll get bored real fast, its like an effective sleeping pills. fgo main point is the story (camelot and above chapter are better in story writing)

The storngest point of FGO is its story. I'm a filthy story skipper in Arknights, but I never skip it in FGO. Especially the main story. The story at the beginning is just a regular classic mobile game old story templete. In short, generic. But as the chapter goes on, it keeps getting better as the dev realized that the playerbase wanted a more complex story. And in the latest update, the newest chapter was released and most of the playerbase agreed that it is the peak of Fate series story.

1. I picked tamamo since she is one of my waifus 2. I plan to reread all the story that I skipped at one point. My problem with reading is, I would want to do it on stream but most people already heard it way to many times. I might consider doing the same thing like I did in Arknights. Get Content Creator to voice act certain characters 3. Do you really believe I don't know the best part about Astolpho :D

I can see this man will have mental breakdown once summer banner come out where 6 servant (2 SSR and 4 SR waifu servant will use swimsuit including husbandos that come in form of free unlockable skin). Especially a fan of Sei Shonnagon. Make sure to save now or you will punch wall behind you next regretting that since you new player. Also that summer event this year will not return next year but banner will return with exception it stacked with other good servant and yeah old summer servant that want your wallet kun dry.. That aside about the story it is long. But there are anime of it. Start from 1. Fate/Grand Order : First Order 2. Fate/Grand Order : Shinsei Entaku Ryouiki Camelot Part 1 & 2 3. Fate/Grand Order : Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia 4.Fate/Grand Order: Shuukyoku Tokuiten - Kani Jikan Shinden Solomon Bonus sine you "cough" fellow astolfo fans "cough" Fate/Apocrypha. Probably anime you would like since you meet her in this one. A spin off called Fate Grand Carnival also good just for laugh. Love the video btw. Just worried you will start losing mind after this when new banner came out. But please for next video sake. Watch Fate Apocrypha first. And please guys. No spoiler. Let him dont know. Let he feel what we feel back then lol.

man, i can't even imagine how absolute dogwater fgo must be like if you skip story, the gameplay is pretty ass in part 1, (frankly the very early stroy is too tho) and unless you're a huge Nasuverse fan already, rolling the gacha doesn't seem too appealing either
