he have a same voice like one of my friend I played co-op games with and the laugh too is exact, it's like they are clones, and with that said the laugh is the only noise worth what comes out of both of their mouth ...

There is something about these obscure PS2 games that I find comforting. It reminded me of a time when you would see these types of games in blockbuster all the time and acted as a good last minute rental in case something like God of War 2 went out of stock.

​@@samljerIt's funny you mention that because I was looking at my collection just last night and said to myself that from Sega, PS1, PS2, and 64 through to even the Wii seemed like they were all fun and had loads of memories. However PS3 up to Xbox One and PS4 and 5 all seem like graphics graphics graphics with gameplay second. Over the years it seems like they've innovated so much but in doing so they've lost quite a bit of charm.

@@MGrey-qb5xz That's just pure hyperbole, people still do care about game play. We look more fondly about games from our past, it's just nostalgia, there's nothing wrong with that but to say that game's today aren't as good is just wrong. There are plenty of games that are gameplay first and graphics second. Plus, IMO if anything the 5th generation (PS1, Saturn, N64) was the worst when it came to putting graphics over gameplay. Since everyone was completely focused on 3D and polygons. People back then would completely ignore amazing 2d games simply because they weren't 3D. Sony had a rule for a while that they only wanted 3d games on their system, obviously that went away quickly but shows how focused the industry as a whole were on graphics at the time. IMO, it was much worse back then, and even out a bit the next few generations but it still till took a while for 2D games were seen as worthwhile (outside of handhelds).

I watched all of it. It's not too bad if you like Toku Rider Sentai bullshit like me. It tries to be more rated R adjacent but I'd say more for teens? I dunno. Japan's culture allows for some unique things. Anyway, the OG series is pretty cool. I had no idea this had a PS2 game.

Uh so like, where do I start....

Fun fact about Daemon Summoner : at one point, you're captured and locked inside an insane asylum. Your wife is there too, but you have no weapons, and there is a werewolf prowling around. You have to do a long sidequest with a ghost, helping him to retrieve his body and finding the necessary items to make silver bullets so you can kill the werewolf, which puts the ghost to rest. As a thanks, he opens a door to a room with weapons you can use to fight your wife. Oooor you can pick up a lantern and toss it at her face to clear the level in like two minutes. Also, the final boss can turn invisible... but your reticle still turns red when aiming at it, so it's no big deal. I heard the game was done in THREE MONTHS. I don't know if it's true, but it would explain a lot.

Yeah, TripleJump mentioned the short development window when they played Daemon Summoner on Worst Games Ever a few years back. Apparently the studio, Atomic Planet, was so busy trying to keep the lights on with ports and licensed titles that they barely had time for original stuff.

Project ARMS?! Oh crap, this got a game?! Man, that had one of the best panel pages I've ever seen where the MC's mom gets held hostage by a gunman. He does the typical "I don't know how to solve this!" thing. Then his mom tells him, "Oh sweetie.... didn't your father teach you not to panic in situations like these?" Followed by her whipping a gun out of nowhere and blasting her hostage taker away like a boss.

All I remember about project arms was the anime where teens gets grafted with alien parasites which are named after Alice in wonderland characters.

Fun fact: Zaruba (The talking skull ring from Garo) is voiced by Hironobu Kageyama, best known for his work on the Japanese Dragon Ball Z intros, as well as being the current leader of JAM Project (Who also do Garo's intros). 1:02:25 This fight is in the show and looks just as awesome there. There's official Blu-Rays for the original series, the two follow-up movies, and the sequel series, Makai Senki (Usually listed online as "Season 2"). There's a bunch of spinoff anime about different characters in different time periods Funimation/Crunchyroll distribute, too.

Garo is an awesome show. Darker Tokusatsu for adults. Highly recommended. I also appreciate that the game has the skyscraper fight with Zero as a boss fight. That scene was insane in the show.

How could this Garo game not feature "Savior in the Dark"? The hypest theme song ever.

The first night of my study abroad in Japan I turned on the TV in the business hotel and the last episode of the first season of Garo was playing. Naked demon ladies flying around? I had no fucking clue what was going on but I liked it.

Now that’s one amazing experience you had in Japan.

*Project ARMS* (the manga was originally titled just *ARMS* ) is some amazing sci-fi action nonsense with great mechanical and monster design, although the game is just an okay beat-em-up. It does have a full vs mode, though, iirc. The series made a decent impact in Japan, but it was never more than a cult hit in English. And yes, all the villains are clones of a dude named Keith. *Buccaneer* is indeed a Simple 2000 game, but it seems to be one of the more playable ones.

I'm a simple man. I see Garo, I click on Garo. Matt, if you're interested in watching the show, it's a little hard to come by, but they DID release a series of Blu-Rays of the first two seasons (and all the movies) a while back. Look for something called "Garo TV Collection." Knowing your tastes, I'd definitely recommend it!

I actually know quite a bit about Garo. its actually a super cool tokusatsu series. Like... an adult-focused Kamen rider. Basically, the weird skull ring is Zaruba. They are a horror-detecting ring. Horrors are basically demons that kill people and posess their bodies. Makai knights have armors and kill these horrors to help humanity. I think all the Horrors (the moth horror, chain horror, and the gooey armor monster, etc.) all appeared on the very first season. The red timer is because the Golden Knight Garo armor can only be activated for a very limited amount of time.

I was not expecting a Ben Hur game, or that it would be Marcus Kartelius but here we are.

The only thing I know about Garo is that it had a REALLY baller collab with FFXIV and gave a bunch of amazing armor

It's a really dark tokusatsu. "Dark" being more gritty and bloody then super Sentai and Kamen rider...it's actually quite good.

The phrasing of "Monster-turned pirates" makes me more think they were monsters first, that then decided to become pirates. Also the skulls on the loading screen for Buccaneer look like they are one photoshop away from being your character Matt lol. Garo looks pretty neat! I'm familiar with the show thanks to seeing some awesome figures and some clips online but that is about as far as I've gone lol.

Just an FYI... The talking skull ring from Garo is voiced by Hironobu Kageyama. You might know him as the singer of pretty much the best anime themes out there.

sadly.... no.... Legend which happens to be on SUPER Nintendo and also a sequel (recently just found out) happens to be Raging Blades chapters to it. don't get me wrong Golden Axe Series are and should be brought back as a remaster hd collection or remake. that would be amazing.

the time limit is for your summoned armor because in lore the armor's limit to 99.9 secs otherwise the user subject to be corrupted by armor and go beserk.

Garo was a toku show created by legendary designer Keita Amemiya, who made stuff like Mirai Ninja and Zeiram. The show was about wire kung fu fighting Final Fantasy bosses to JAM Project. While "mature" so it could have blood and nudity, the writing wasn't great and came off like cosplayers LARPing. Still the action was mostly the good kind of exploitation even if the CGI is dated.

These games look like above average Dollar General titles one can get for $5.00 each, man i love the PS2 . ❤

I never knew there was a GARO game. One of the best Toku shows out there.

I was so excited when I saw GARO on the list because of the skyscraper stage. That stage is beyond its time, and it is the scene that has been ingrained in my memory since I was a child playing this game.

that last game reminded me that KZread just randomly recommended a few Garo episodes to me about a year or two ago so i’ve actually seen the first episode of this show. didn’t know it was that old though, definitely has some cool armor designs!

I never really thought about it before, but a whole lot probably gets lost when you don't have the manual pamphlets that used to come with these older titles. They would explain some story and other things.

These multi-game videos are so good!

So Project ARMS is based on a manga of the same name. It's actually really good, would recommend a read if you can find it.

There is also a Anime of it that is great, I use to own a few Dub DVDs of this anime back as a Teen, an it had some crazy moments an great action, I haven't thought about it in years.

22:01 I read a great deal of Project Arms manga a few years ago, it's peak 90's manga/anime. I liken it to Guyver only it's a bit more comprehensible. The later chapters and story get REALLY nuts

Fans can take comfort in knowing that Garo survived the 2020 disaster and is primed for another season later in 2024. Keita Amemiya has finally put down Animal Crossing and started working again on his baby. Pity that Kraken Releasing went under though, would have loved more US Blu-rays of the live action shows.

That Ben Hur game looks familiar. I think my mother rented that one for me once.^^

Man, Project ARMS! That anime is a blast form the past, and ofc it got a videogame that was never localized so I couldn't play it back then.

Their is an obscure PS2 game from square back in the day called radiata stories I highly suggest if you ever feel like doing more of these it has such an interesting story but has hilarious characters. there is a situation where goblins stop your party and they play a word game saying a word with the last letter of the last one and one single cell goblin on their team just keeps saying egg and losing it for them 😂

I loved the original GARO series, which I used to torrent from TV-Nihon when it first came out. The designs are pretty sick, since it was a Keita Amemiya series after all. It spawned into several other media including three anime series but I still loved the first series the best.

Always love to see some obscure games I've never encountered before. 😃 Also love the feeling of validation when somebody brings up an obscure game that I have played before. Really enjoyed this video and the recent 24 Sega Genesis games video. Seems this format of taking a quick look at a bunch of games is a good fit for you.

The English Dub was the best part of the anime. They got away with some really funny lines straight out Ghost Stories while keeping the storyline/characterization faithful and nearly everyone was really well casted and voiced. RIP Kirby Morrow (Ryo), Micheal Kopsa (Kabuto), Ross Douglas (Keith Blue), and Gabe Khouth (Oscar).

How I wish I knew about these obscure PS2 games along time ago. The only obscure title I’ve found the most interesting of the bunch, is Golden Knight Garo. If only I could travel back in time and tell my youngest self to find these obscure PS2 games.

The PS Double Ballin' was one of my favorite consoles. But there was definitely jank involved

Daemon Summoner was a game I always saw at the video store and was like "oof, nah" and rented something equally bad like Oprhen Scion of Scorcery

ps2 library was the third person GOAT of video gaming , every single small and big company had their own engines for gaming and holy shit were they unique asf.

I'd seen a review of Daemon Summoner from a "worst ever" series, so when I saw it here, I thought "Oh boy, he's in for a time!". You didn't get to fully experience the "wonders" of the stealth mechanic, which was probably good for you. (PS: from the same series, Space Invaders: Invasion Day, a game so bad, Taito disowned it)

"The A button does nothing" I mean yeah Matt... it's a PS2 controller, I'd imagine the non existent A button on it does nothing xD

"Were there not guns created yet?" One of those things people get wrong all the time is thinking that guns are super modern. The Three Musketeers are called that because they were soldiers that used muskets and that book was set in 1625. So yes, they DEFINITELY had access to gun technology in 1880's England.

I'll never be able to hear "Ben Hur" without thinking about Tim and Eric.

A chariot racing vehicle combat game is a really cool concept. Shame the combat and physics seem kinda off.

Matt if you like Kamen Rider, you would probably like Garo Edit: that Talking Skull guy is actually a ring that talks

He also detects demons, has knowledge on how to destroy some of them and acts as support by offering battle tactics and advice during a fight. Oh, and in one alternate continuity he is the ignition key to a very metal looking motorcycle that is a repurposed demon horse because urban gothic fantasy.

You might be able to get Garo on DVD in this country, but I'm not 100% positive. It is a pretty impressive show. It's kind of in the Tokusatsu (Anything scifi/ fanstasy with rubber monsters) for adults vein.

The limited edition of Golden Knight Garo came with a green version of the talking skull ring. There are actually images of it which I did NOT expect

Oh boy, Golden Knight Garo, Garo: Makai Senki and Garo: Makai no Hana were quite a ride for mid-2000s japanese live-action TV shows.

Raging Blades ! I was thinking about it when the video started and it appeared! The game has a lot of characters a fighting mode similar to power stone and multiple campaigns, branching paths and endings

Okay now do the blocky Xbox next. Would be interesting to see what unknown games you have not played on that system. But hell looking at Raging Blades i need to play it.

Project arms is from an old 90s anime that is pretty badass.

GARO is GOATed. If you like Ghost Rider and Blade mixed with Japan's special level of craziness and intensity. It is absolutely for you.

Buccaneer's opening sounds like someone trying to rewrite the narration at the beginning of most One Piece episodes.

I remember getting sent to the hall because me and my friend started laughing during history class when the chariot in Ben hur movie was dragging someone behind. Don't remember anything else just for some reason 2 of us were laughing... good mems

fun fact: the creator of Attack on Titan Hajime Isayama has stated that project ARMS was one of the inspirations for him to become a Mangaka I believe that Eran's attack titan form was inspired by the main character's Jabberwock transformation.
