I Played 100 Days Of Oxygen Not Included

Ойындар

You guys seemed to like my 100 Days of Don't Starve, so I thought I'd try out Oxygen Not Included! This was my first time 100% blind playthrough, and suffice to say: it shows. I didn't really check out any guides while I played, so if you have any tips for me, please I need as much advice as I can get LOL.

Edit VERY IMPORTANT: Don't mark their priorities as X unless you never want them to do it ever again. You'll get into the "No one is moping up this pee water" problem. It's better to not touch those priorities until much later into the game. After playing this game for so long and not having known about the tutorials on the left hand side or basically just ignoring them, I always thought "How could I have missed those" good to know I'm not alone. Also it is a very VERY good idea to use the Book icon next to items names or on the top right to help teach you about things without trial an error. Trust me its in the game for a reason. Also it doesnt say it anywhere, but use Carbon dioxide to keep your unrefridgrated food fresh (build a food box at the bottom of your base) and whenever you find the mushroom spores they are great at eating up some of the Carbon Dioxide so it won't overwhelm the base

Advice: Look at the "rooms" filter(on the same bar as the oxygen filter) to see what types of rooms you can make(bathrooms, barracks, mess halls, etc) which can increase moral and therefore decrease stress. This is really important and really easy to do. Also you don't need to get a duplicant every chance, feel free to reject some to keep your food at a good level. Your bases look really big, you may wanna make them smaller to decrease walking time and oxygen need. Also don't worry this game is hard no one is judging you that much

As you already know, the priorities are backwards and BECAUSE you’re using the High Alert/Top Priority button, they’re disregarding their own needs, so as long as that’s in play, they won’t eat, they won’t sleep, they won’t go to the bathroom or idle. You should really only use that for, well, emergencies. Don’t feel discouraged though! ONI has a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you’re addicted. The game itself is a challenge, so once you get something you feel a big sense of accomplishment.

0:58 'Oh it's a reading game.' Pretty much summarizes the video. A lot of issues could have been skipped with a bit more reading. Props to you for going into this game blind it's an experience you won't ever have again. Oxygen Not Included has several different kinds of experiences depending on your skill level. As you improve, learn more about it's mechanics and how they work together you will find an ever growing list of brand new problems you didn't even know was possible. And all because you wanted to cool your metal refinery with yellow water straight from the source.

I get to the 52 minute mark and hear him talking about the Puft as if it cleans your air, rather than making it even worse lol For those of you who haven't played, ONI has a bunch of materials that are unstable as solids and slowly emits gases. Each kind of puft consume a certain gas, and excrete the solid versions as waste products, and the puft excretes slime, which produces more polluted oxygen.

My first experience with this game was very similar to this. So much to deal with, and not knowing how to deal with it all properly. XD Also a few things to note if you play more of this game: 1. Be careful about stress. Every duplicant has a stress response. The "destructive" response means they will start breaking machines when stressed, some may eat a whole bunch of food when stressed, etc. So, stress is BAD. 2. The algae terrariums are an alright way to generate oxygen without power, but it doesn't stop generating. So, the pressure can become high enough to cause the ears of your duplicants to "pop", which gives stress. 3. You may want to keep the coal generators separate from commonly used areas. They generate Carbon Dioxide (which is not breathable) and will also generate heat. 4. Lastly, it may be worth remembering how gasses work. Oxygen is lighter than Carbon Dioxide, so will always end up going upwards.

This was actually quite the good progression. You learned most of the basics in your first two colonies which is pretty normal and overall you did pretty well. One thing to help you understand dupe management tho. The higher the number, the higher the priority, meaining priority 1 is the lowest and priority 9 the highest.

Bruhhhh. Him not reading any tutorials or explanations on the screen hurt so much. Like every time you click on the priority tool it pops up a tip that says priority 9 is highest. I really came in with a positive attitude and a lot of learning the game is trial and error but BABE read the descriptions!!! (Halfway through Seanie reads the story bits. Every overlay contains important info and building descriptions help too,) The suits add decor to the duplicates themselves. Decor lowers stress. You could also make a “break day” schedule where you set it as downtime, wash time, and a few hours of work. And do it like every 10 days or whenever everyone’s stress is high. The massage tables have a max and min setting. If you set the min to 80 no one will use it until 80% stress. Same with triage cots. I’m now 50 mins in and he hasn’t seen (or shown him seeing) the germs or temperature systems at all. Ooooooof Duplicates are 2 blocks tall, can climb 2 blocks up or down, and can jump 1 block 53:00 Rooms need to be completely blocked in. And when you complete a room with certain furniture (explained in the room overlay) it gets bonuses

Great video and I really hope you continue, so here‘s some advice -There’s a building called carbon skimmer. It pollutes a bit of water but gets rid of carbon dioxide (the black gas that collects at the bottom) -Another very useful building is the water sieve, it uses a bit of sand and power to clean polluted water and give you clean water. -You really should start ranching as it‘s a great sustainable source of food and many other things, like coal for example if you ranch hatches. What you need to know is that you should always build max size farms (96 tiles) because the amount of space determines how many critters can live in a stable (8 in a max size stable). One really important thing is that you always need to remove new eggs, because they also make critters feel crowded. Also, be aware that you can’t permanently store eggs in storage bins, after a few cycles they will turn into raw egg and can‘t hatch anymore.

It took me like 20 colonies to get to a 100 cycle colony, it took me over 30 to reach 1000 cycles, its not a game about makeing one single succsesful colony, its a game about learning and bettering yourself from each colony that died from your mistake. "It's a reading game?" -- yes, read it lol, it would have saved you a lot of trouble. Taking time to check out the various overlays, tooltips, database, etc may sound boring, but it's there for a reason 😉 Other tips: -In general, meal lice are a preferable food source to mush bars, as they don't consume water and power. -Take it easy on printing dupes; while additional laborers sounds good, without proper infrastructure in place they'll suffocate or starve (I went a few dozen cycles with just four). -Some traits should be avoided unless you're an experienced player looking for a challenge, flatulent being one of them (they create natural gas, which is of course unbreathable, and also an eye irritant). -Don't want to spoil things too much, but let's just say water sieves and electrolyzers are among the most useful machines in the game.

now I'm kinda surprised that I was able to sustain kinda-stable colony, once I was out of the "PEEING EVERYWHERE" stage. also I appreciate you being ok with duplicants just venture into chlorine atmosphere. I mean, I have no idea what that does to them in-game, but I would never command someone walk unprotected into chlorine like... that's not healthy 😅

A big thing about that game is restarting, you play gain knowledge and then restart to be able to prevent mistakes because fixing them is not that easy and takes time. Also a tipp don't get so many dups 5 as a max is enough for a long long time.
