I Painted with..WOOL?! From an Amazon art kit..

I've tried needle felting before to create a little character but today I learned that you can make actual artwork/paintings with wool felt! It's a very weird and uniqee way to paint but I had a lot of fun - it's fuzzy art as shown by my friend Mira -

I learnt how to felt in school. I studies art textiles so did these art things all the time. I was taught to create a piece between 2 sheets of fabric alternating which way to lay the felt. You then loosely stich the fabric together all round the edge and through the middle then in hot soapy water in a very clean bowl you would kneed it together. The art can move about though as you can't see it but it works and I've made a couple of beautiful pieces. I then sew into them when they are finished with my sewing machine to finish it off. One of my pieces I have sewn dried lavender into it too.

Some tips from what I know: A. The fancy angle technique is actually what will end up in snapped sticks (they are called needles not sticks btw) and snapped needles ends up with a felting mat full of lost snapped needles. B. They are barbed needles so they do hurt to stab yourself with but we all do it C. This is actually just needle felting if you want to try really painting with the floof then I recommend you look in to wet felting. It’s really fun and you will learn loads from embroidery, needle felting, wet felting and more in doing it

Looks like Mount Fuji. You should do this more often it's fab. I did it for art collage and did Georgia O'Keefe paintings. It's very very therapeutic when you're in a very angry or annoyed mood. You could do a big Starry night picture to match your wall. This would make a nice pair with what you've just done. There are so many colours of felt available but it's fun to dye your own. You can also use them angel hair fibres to add sparkle to the stars etc. I love it, but the cats trash most if my fleece.

For the first time doing Needle Felting you did a really good job. It can be tricky to get the wool to do what you want it to do. The fluffy stuff is actually sheep's wool and poking it with the needle is called Felting cause you are making felt by binding the wool together. Nice job❤️

if you're interested in looking more at landscape felting, check out Moy MacKay's work. Her work is stunning! She uses different fibres together to create amazing textures, like curly fleece from sheep. You can also blend the felting wool together to make new colours or blend with other fibres like silk or sparkly angelina, so long as you dont add too much non wool fibre to the wool (only wool felts) You can also wet felt wool that creates a similar effect to needle felting without the risk of poking yourself, I've seen people make bags, nuno felted scarves and all sorts with wet felting.

Hi my main art form is felting! Some tips if this wants you to continue this is that needles bend and break when you turn them inside the piece, it should be a straight up and down motion (though some breakage will almost always happen), and you're not done when you think you are, felting is a long process. It should be very firm, and its done when you can't pull any whispy bits can't be pulled off. The etsy shop "Borderfelts" looks like a good UK based shop to get some supplies and ideas for what it seems like you want to do. And yes, it is a never ending process to get the "ends" in lol. The smaller needles are used for more control and details. This looks beautiful!

It looks really cute! If you like this flat felting style, you could try wet felting with the tools you already have!! You can make lovely patterns with some simple techniques and some people have even made amazing detailed landscapes that you can see on Pinterest and stuff. It's also pretty relaxing and unless you're doing detailed work you can avoid stabby stuff lmao. I'd love to see your take on it. I'm not sure if you appreciate art tips in the comments but I'm a semi-professional needle felter so I can give you some advice on things I struggled with when I first started. Feel free to ignore this if you don't want it though! Firstly, you should always felt perpendicular to the felting plane, otherwise your needles can snap!! Also you're right that a single needle is better for detailed work - I personally tend to use the larger tools to felt my base so the wool doesn't blow away then go in with a single needle for detail. Your last 3D piece was cute too, you did amazing considering it was your first try. I can barely look at my first pieces now lmao. I remember you saying it didn't look exactly like the picture, and I just wanted to mention that you'd actually really struggle to get it exactly like the picture with the tools provided in the kit. From what I can tell, they only gave you one size needle, but the picture definitely used different sized needles. Wider needles are good for making the base become firm quickly, while thinner needles give the surface a smooth finish. You can definitely do great work with just one needle size, but it's sorta like doing everything with one paintbrush lol. Anyway great vid, looking forward to see what you do next :)

In textiles lessons in school this wool stuff was the best, you can make almost entire dresse by stitching together sheets of the felting. But dear god I hated actually felting it with the water and cheap school soap that had already been carved. But the amount of intricate felting pieces I ruined when running it together, rip.

This was amazing as always. I do have a pro tip for you about blending colors. It's something I do for my doll repaints. Take small pieces of two different colors, whether they are contrasting or for blending is up to you. Then press them together and hold one end of the bundle of pieces. With your other hand, gently pull down on the free end of the fibers. You should come away with a small bunch in your free hand. Press them together and repeat until you're happy with the blend. It's a bit time-consuming, but the results are definitely worth it.

I've actually learned about dog wool (wool made of dog's spare hair) and it is quite good quality material! It's rearly used because of, you know, moral reasons but it's not that different form the sheep wool.

I really want to take a stab at this. I love the big stars. Very starry night vibes. Have you seen that woman who does like the most realistic cat head needle felt art? She must have spent ages getting to that level haha.

Well Chloe once again you create art! If you want more realism it just takes more time and more pokes! I think you did great I would love for you to continue to create starry night paintings. Why not try it in every medium you can think of, oil paint, acrylic paint, felting, soft pastels, oil pastels, watercolor painting, yeah you get the idea. You might have to break these videos up occasionally with something else, but I think you should ride that horse til they can’t go no more! Or you know do what you want because will still be here watching because quite frankly you’re one of the most entertaining KZreadrs and dammit we like you! Please take care and be safe!

As a child we did this kind of thing by massaging the felt down with a lot of natural soap and water. I didn’t even know needle felting was a thing until I was an adult! That may a more fun way to get into the craft if you’re a bit frustrated with this technique!

Your first piece is really rather good Chloe. Truthfully. I really like it. You are so artistic. But i have to say that putting the finger protector on your index finger and then using your middle finger of the same hand to control the felt while you went at it with the pointy metal thingy...why?? Explain that to me hun? It's literally the opposite to logical! And is therefore exactly how I would do it! Haha. I loved this video and I'm really glad to see you enjoying doing something other than painting. You are so, so talented. I never would have made a smoking mountain, that was a stroke of pùre genius hun! You always come up with great ideas!

tip for anyone who tries this, you should always put the needle(s) in straight and sure sure to take it out straight as it's v easy to break the needles. You also should learn the line between poking too little and too much. Too little and the wool won't hold to your base, too much and it becomes too tight!
