i would think edges like this really adds to the experience & first impression of a book, I'm kinda surprised we don't see them more often printed at a large-scale, mass produced. For special editions and such.
I like how she and Hansi work in so many different mediums, paint, foam, leather, electronics, so varied. Every episode is something new and little of the same. Very nice.
Martina: I usually paint with acrylic on big canvas, so I will start with something simple Also Martina: take the smallest book, bend it and paints it with aquarelle 😸

she has become such an amazing artist over the years like omg this is INSANE i love this and you, it is SO inspiring
I think the best part of these videos is the genuine joy and appreciation of the one's own work. Especially young artists are often self-deprecating when talking about projects they've done, so it's a great example to set! It'd be impossible for me as a viewer to find anything to pick on in anything on this channel, all the projects are so beautiful and magical, but I'm sure Martina and Hansi are their own biggest critics. Still, they don't let it show in a non-constructive way. So happy to watch these videos

Thank you for this comment. I'm definitely my biggest critic but I'm also my biggest fan, I can just get so hyped over constantly discovering my skills are leveling up :D. But I've been made to feel like showing this appreciation is egotistical and self centered. Or maybe I talked that into my own head, who knows. So it's nice to know I don't have to feel like that ^^

I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years now, and some of your projects just go beyond “wow”. This being one of them! So today I subscribed. I was a bit skeptical at first, with this painting on books idea, because I had the fears you had. But you have made it so that even I would try it on one of my books to see how it turns out! Ah finally the thing that I did to timepass in school became real art.

If you do this again, you should try to make it so that each books artwork stands on its own but also works as a piece in the set. The sheer improvement between the books is astonishing. The Hobbit definitely looked good, don't get me wrong. But if you had asked me if Hogwarts was made by the same person in a relatively short time span I probably wouldn't have believed you as the level of detail you were able to impart in your depiction of Hogwarts was breathtaking. You can definitely see how you were able to become more comfortable with your tools over the project.

As someone who uses watercolors as their main medium for 10+ years, that is amazing! Especially the Harry Potter ones, you absolutely nailed the lighting! 🤩 I can't even imagine trying to use watercolor on the edge of books, but now I want to try 😂
I feel like if you use thinned acrylics they would work fine, but clearly watercolors work.
