Should never have gone on the trip. If from the start Mom said she would not spend time with her daughter alone, then do not pay for everyone to keep peace. Invite her to something else like going to a dinner or a shopping spree in her favorite store. Then make personal plans far away from toxic step family.

She made a right choice to cut ties from her mother and start a new life

If her mom couldn't understand why her daughter wanted a trip with the two of them, then it was time to cut ties with her.

I never have written on one of these before, but from beginning to end all my answers to all these questions would be no. I would have canceled the whole trip.

Kate, you did what you had to do. Cut ties with your mother. Believe me, I know how it can be with mothers. I had to do the same with mine. All that toxicity got on my nerves too. I had to stay clear of her. Before she died, I found out she had dementia, I did get a chance to chill in ways. I also had peace with myself as well.

Bob and kids had no business going on this trip, let alone treating daughter like that.

What a terrible family! Mostly it was the stepfather

That stepfather was about himself and his children. No consideration of the stepdaughter.

For one thing the kids are not babies. They look too old to need a babysitter. Another thing why did the OP think that once she found out the stepfather was going, that she was going to get a room with just her mother and the stepfather and the kids were going to sleep in another room. Most of the time married couples are going to have the same room. One she found out the stepfather was also going she probably shouldn't have went. She probably should have made her mother understand she only wanted this to be a mother/daughter trip so they could reconnect. If she wanted to go to Greece with her husband they could do that on their own dime.
