I Paid $150 but there's a $1,000 item right in front! I bought a storage locker at a U-Haul auction

Locker Nuts episode 496
I'm pretty sure I scored big at the live storage auctions, picking up 2 really nice units. It's time to start digging in this one, which I paid $150 for. I'm pretty sure I'll see the profit right away, as one item in the front appears to be very expensive, and is why I pulled the trigger. That means the rest of the unit is profit, but what else is in there? Let's find out together on this episode of Locker Nuts.

I have a feeling she was a cancer patient. My medical coverage doesn't cover any of those supplies. I've had to purchase all those boots. $180, Shower chairs $49. Walkers range from $30 to $200+ Call around to your local County Human Service agency and see if you can donate these supplies to a medical loan closet.

I am in Brisbane Australia and have recently started in the abandoned storage units game. Still learning but it is so much fun. 1 item can change everything. I got a unit last week, paid $350 had a zebra Baroda scanner, retails new $2,600. Also got a unit today paid $150 had a wertheim vacuum cleaner retails $1,600. Obviously 2nd hand prices to sell, but will make bank, I believe that is an American term

Quickie wheelchairs are a really good brand. The air cushion is a Roho and they are excellent for preventing pressure sores. The white bench is a shower seat. Resale of handicap equipment can be great. Insurance companies will usually buy new equipment if a person needs it, but will not purchase used. My husband received new equipment whenever he needed it. He had accident settlement money and was a VA patient. Quickie is not the most expensive but, it is a good brand and good quality. Most any kind of insurance, including Medicare, will pay total cost of equipment with a Dr.s Rx.

FYI: to test gold, you can do a "streak test" using the unglazed back side of a tile. It will scratch the item, but real gold will leave only a gold streak on the tile, while gold fill or plate will show gold plus silver or grey when the base metal comes through. Also, remember, real gold is heavy as lead.

Seems the woman wanted to remember her bio hair. There was a wig there too, it stands to reason the woman possibly had hair loss due to alopecia or cancer meds.

My husband's chair was $4k our part was 900.00 after insurance. His crutches are similar $115 +/- . Being handicapped is expensive even with insurance. Roho cushions are up to $1000 depending on the size. Usually you have to have a prescription from a seating clinic & Dr for brand new custom to your size & needs. Only problem can be once you get a new chair insurance only covers maintenance on the newest one.

The water bottles are like that because when they are bottled the air in them is one temperature, and 6 months later when they are a different temperature the air "shrinks". Of course they could also have been moved from one high altitude to a low altitude and the same thing would have happened.

My mom and her siblings were born in San Francisco, my grandfather was an engraver for the U.S. Mint. I was not that interested in the stamps until I started researching. Look at the old ones under a magnifying glass . The detail is extraordinary. You may be pleasantly surprised. All you have to do is separate the envelope. Always save the post mark. Personal customized wheelchairs can go for much higher prices than that. That’s probably a more basic customized chair honestly. Insurance will usually cover those. It’s expensive to be disabled. My personal chair cost around $5000. It’s kind of amusing to hear you say that is someone can afford a $1000 wheelchair maybe they have other expensive things. 😂 generally a disabled individual doesn’t have a ton of expensive things because they have to cover the $$ difference that insurance doesn’t.

@@LockerNuts yes they are. If you’re able to donate some of those medical supplies they would be very much appreciated by individuals that don’t have resources to get those items that are very needed.

@@LockerNuts also If you do want to try and donate medical equipment I may be able to help point you in the direction of organizations that collect them to then redistribute to people in need. I know there are challenges to finding the right organizations.

Insurance does not cover the boot. It is prescribed by a doctor. It is expensive.

2 things come to mind with the hair. 1. They used to bunch hair up and use it kind of like a bump it or fluff puff to style hair around it. 2. I had a patient with dementia and she kept hiding her hair that fell out because she was afraid she would get in trouble, she also kept all her stuff ever if it was empty and would get so upset if we threw away anything that was empty. I think she would get upset because she was taken out of her home by family and they sold a ton of her stuff without telling her. She was in and out of memory loss at that time so at times she would remember and cry.

I would believe the price of the wheelchair my father just passed and his walker/buggy with breaks and seat cost about $170-$200

I saw you threw a roll of film away. I'll buy whatever old film you find, used or not. I love shooting on or developing discarded film.

My mum had cancer and started losing her hair, so she shaved it all off and kept it. It's a very difficult thing to deal with. While we might think it's gross to them it's a link to what they have had to give up and a link to what they were. We got rid of it once she had passed away but it is not always as it seems.

Jack, you make me crazy when you shake boxes! There are some things that can break. Opals can crack with that much shaking! Did you shake all your Christmas boxes when you were little?
