He really went back to college because he doesn't have to worry about upper management interfering with what he's doing nor have to worry about having to deal with other personalities on making his football decisions. He at Michigan has total control over the program. I believe he will eventually go back to the nfl hell if a team like the Broncos could get him right now that would be great but it will be a while before he goes back. He probably will if he gets a title for Michigan.

As a 49er fan I totally agree with Jed on this one. Yes, he's made major mistakes, such as dismissing John Harbaugh and not firing Trent Baalke sooner than he did, but he is the owner of our team and there's nothing about that that can change as easy as him being dismissed. He wants our team to do well, and he's making the moves he sees fit. Our team is really bad. We are irrelevant right now. But that doesn't mean we start pointing fingers; we need to reset. Do I agree with firing Chip and firing Harbaugh? Hell no, but that's not anyone's fault, every team makes the same management errors. I think Jed is handling the situation properly by affirming his status as owner. We don't change that. If you've read this far, props to you, but I agree with this and I am so happy we finally fired Trent Baalke.

Love the reporter GRILLING the owner.....there are no bad coaches.....just bad owners. Its all about Leadership and it starts at the top.....Stan Kroenke is a bad owner including his minions that run his organizations and letting Fisher get away with 22 years of 0 wins in the Super Bowl speaks volumes of the higher ups or "ties/suits"...... " Fraternal Club " maybe? Complacency? And what about the fans?

Jed, overinflated ego, coupled with incompetency, are two terrible things to pair together in a position like yours. Worst, you don't even know that your team is going through a crisis. In a business, the three things people care about are price, service, and quality. Your product fails at all of these. Rather than trying to improve your business model, you keep on building a sheltered bubble for yourself, hoping it will all just blow away or somehow right itself. Clearly, you don't know how to get it done, but you want to create a world where you delude yourself into thinking you're going to be the hero eventually. When Lane Kiffin was fired from the Raiders, a newspaper had this quote: "Just before Kiffin was fired, he didn't even know what the question was." Jed, you clearly don't know what the question is, let alone the answers. Eventually, it's all going to blow up in your face. I'm a 49er fan and will be absolutely happy when that happens. Someday I'll be with my friends and hopefully see you working some lousy job. We'll be sure to give it to you then. After all, you did say "Hold me accountable", right?

Jed York has really grown as an owner since this interview. He has redeemed himself in my book. I mean the facts don’t lie. The Niners have been contenders for 7 years now. I believe he really learned his lesson in that Harbaugh debacle and began staying out of the way.

Firing Chip Kelly and Trent Baalke was never the problem. The players suck as a team and what many don't realize is that the players run the team, not the coach or the general manager who are all grown men. This team was done as soon as Jerry Rice and Steve Young disappeared. When you have a strong caliber of good players on a team that understands one another's desire to win then you'll find unity to build success. No matter who you put under the helm now, the San Francisco 49ers will never be a winning ball club and the Organization should have figured this out when drafting a 2011 2nd round 36 pick QB Colin Kaepernick and making him the teams starter who failed miserably in 2015 after a lost to St. Louis 27-6 under then coach Jim Tomsula who was hired that very same year and then fired and replaced by now fired Chip Kelly. That's two coaches in two seasons...Apparently someone in the 49ers front office knows nothing about Football or for that matter, how to run a successful ball club missing the playoffs three consecutive years who has that same 2nd round draft pick in 2017 as they did in 2011 and really, will one player change a losing teams ways? Harbaugh wouldn't have made a difference who failed at the college level in Michigan's rally and quest in a lost to Florida State in a bowl game last week who is The 49ers third replaced coach in as many as three years...

Seems like SF has done well since.

Jed York isn't even that involved with the team like some owners that don't even want a GM. He just chose to back Baalke because the dude kissed his ass unlike Harbaugh. Almost every player that came together during the Harbaugh era was selected from McCloughan, even with our high draft picks for almost a decade Baalke only decent selection was Hyde. Atleast we some hope with a clean slate now.

Chip Kelly needed more time. No coach in his first year has ever taken over a bad roster and a team that has been awful, and transforms them into playoff team the next year. The BROWNS are giving Hue Jackson a chance, and they just went 1-15. Rebuilding takes more than 1 season. Kelly would've been a great fit once they found some pieces. He and the '13 Eagles were insanely good on offense.

Everyone talking trash in a owner that’s very smart. He just told them he seen success before his eyes when there is a great HC and great GM that works well with one another. So I think he’s doing a great job as a owner now.

The definition of a good leader is taking responsibility when you do well and when you don't. Clearly this rich kid who has inherited everything from daddy is unable to admit that breaking his toys weren't a good idea.

This was kind of expected once Chip Kelly was hired

The owner is willing to spend 40 million to start fresh with a new staff. He is doing it for best of the 49ers going forward. I am not a 49ers fan, but this seems to be an owner who cares enough to try and bring in a better coaching staff in order to fulfill his expectations and the expectations of the fans.

May not be true for him because of his family, but what he is saying is true for most owners. The owners have the say so in the end, they will do what they want to. They have the money and the power to get rid of anybody as long as it does not interfere with the NFL's rules.

He's not wrong. You can't have dysfunction between the head coach and the general manager/ownership and expect to be successful. That much was obvious in Harbaugh's final season with San Fran. However, it's pretty obvious that Jed York fired the wrong employee.… Well one thing is for sure.… Jed York doesn't care about being popular and that can have its advantages when properly utilized.
