I_o is a DJ and producer who has released music on a wealth of labels including mau5trap, 4AD, Anjunabeats, Bite This!, inHarmony Music, and Spinnin’ Deep. One of his most lauded releases arrived at the start of 2019 in the form of a Deadmau5 remix that was included on the mau5trap compilation 'We Are Friends Vol 8'.
As a graduate of the recording school ICON collective, and originally encompassed by the Washington DC underground, he holds a musical background touching on various influences. His sound leans towards harder hitting techno and acid and tends to push the vibe upwards with a focus on driving and rolling percussion. You can be sure that his set in the Lab LA is mixed with wide-ranging vocals and even catchier underlying melodies.
Right now, I_o is embarking on a three-part album project entitled '444' and the second installment, 'NRG 444' landed earlier in the month. The first part of the project was released towards the end of last year and 'ACID 444' included some of his best work to date. He's about to head out on his 2020 '444' tour in celebration of the project and we're thrilled he be joined us before it all kicks off.

Had the pleasure of working a show with him before the pandemic here in hawaii and taking him around the island for the day. He was a super humble and down to earth guy. I was looking forward to us bringing him back, sadly that will never happen. Rip Garrett you were a rising star. Your legacy will live on through your music.

This dude was beyond sick, his style of music, dress and overall vibe is so reminiscent of the 90's dance scene.. super underground but so intentional and clean. Just WOW, I'm equally blown away and heart-broken watching this set..

And to think I just found him as of 10/16/22 and am in love with his genius musical creations, only to find out he is no longer with us 😞 May God Have Mercy on him 🙏

Have you listened to the kitchen set he did? Between that one, this one, and his EDC Vegas 2019 set… OMG 😱 Garrett was a phenom 🔥 It STILL blows my mind at how much skill he had, and is no longer with us. Heartbreaking.

@@Kvysvr Well there is quite a few T78 tracks in this tracklist, who originally was a hardcore producer, then hardstyle / hardfunk under DJ Activator / Acti, so there definitely some hard influence on his techno sound

Hope you guys leave this one up for a lifetime. I don't think I've ever been pissed off that a human being bit it right as I found his music and it was honestly a favorite of mine. I get people passing away where I've had Randy Rhoads, Elvis, Wilson Picket, Robert Miles, James Stinson, and more. The only difference is this dude bit at the age of 30 with more to give. Apart of me is selfish in thinking that way but damn was I not looking forward to more collabs with Lights. Thay have some of the most banger/vivacious collab music I've ever sweated over. You'll forever be in my library and played often till I die bud.

Discovered I_o during his halloween-Virtual Rave-A-Thon 3 years ago and couldnt stop playing his music and other sets on repeat for the months after and sadly was finding out of the sad news that soon came later. RIp I_o Youre sets are so freaking good. I wish i could of found you sooner.. i come back to your sets every other month wanting to wake my neighbors up with your awesome tracks. I mean, I'm a DJ too and I keep my hands on the mixer section a lot too when not doing anything. Not pretending anything, just being near the faders. It's one of those bad habits you can just pick up over time
