One of my favorite games of all time had a second and third game made that I never heard of. I am excite

I noticed that a lot of Pokémon spin-offs are better than the main games (from what I played.) Don’t get me wrong I like the main games but sometimes I want a big story, to actually *be* Pokémon, or to be a *freaking warlord!* Legends: Arceus is probably the one exception and even then it plays more like a spin-off than a mainline title.

'Coliseum' and 'Gale of Darkness' were pretty nice too, designed to be completely different - a much more limited roster, it plays a lot more like a standard RPG.

Honestly, my favorite Pokemon spin-offs are Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Conquest. It would actually be kind of cool if they could make a 3D remake of Conquest. I would definitely buy that.

I only know about the fever dream that is Conquest from Fawfel’s Minnions Blessed or Messed Video on it… and now I want a remake for the switch since… it’s Pokémon but with the Generals from Dynasty Warriors(who are based off of Real people mind you) and the game play is akin to Fire Emblem…

@@BlackdragonTheShadow It’s a crossover of the Nobunaga’s Ambition series. Though Samurai Warriors does share the same characters since it’s based on the same era. They aren’t in Dynasty Warriors though as that’s a different point in history in an entirely different country.

@@theduckgoesmoo definitely a personal preference thing. Most people like them for that exact reason. The constant shifts in pitch, the melodies and all that. But that's your opinion, and I respect it.

7:47 Essentially: To use them as slaves. Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia's story has almost as many dark moments as there are funny ones, such as when Team Dim Sun almost burned down an entire forest because the innocent patsy they used to set up one of their Gigaremo machines there mis-wired it by accident.

I loved that part, being a Pokemon Ranger is not fighting mafias, is that and much more so a forest fire being part of the main plot was really good to set what could be a more "normal" day of work

The fact that you paused to show off that you still had your Pokémon Ranger box brought a smile to my face. Ranger (1) is so much fun! (I haven’t played the rest yet) My favorite Pokémon spin-off is probably the Collosseum duology. And I’m hoping Pokémon Company does another game like that!

It was funny because I had just seen the case like a month ago so I knew where it was!

7:45 The usual reason is to take over a region or some nefarious plot. Imagine an entire cave full of the Zubat evolution line or a forest full of the more "stabby" bug pokemon attacking a highly populated area. Countless flying types using hurricane or fire types burning fields. Pokemon are terrifying if used by people with dark intentions. 9:52 It's a whale pokemon. They could make it go all "Monstro" on passing enemy ships, guard Dim Sun controlled ports, terrorize humans living on the coast with potential tidal waves.

"Why would you keep all the gems in the same place?" I think they were using them as a power source for a shield (force field?) of sorts? That's why they battled the trio and beat them to get them back. Then they had to use them to deal with the shadow crystal.

Played through all 3 Pokemon Ranger games, though don't remember much of them to be honest ^^; Most memorable was that you could get a Manaphy Egg in the first one and send it to your 4th Gen game to hatch and that was the only way back then to get Manaphy. Second most memorable thing for me was that in the third game you could fly on Latias and Latios, as those are my favorite Pokemon^^ Now, the other spin-off series, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon... oh man. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is THE BEST Pokemon game, at the very least as far as the story within the game is concerned. I would go as far as to say that it's one of the best stories in games I had ever played^^ Highly recommend giving that one a try, or even a playthrough^^

@@theduckgoesmoo emulators for those games can be a little more difficult due to requiring a stylus, but I’m sure there’s a way that you could make it work. Also Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is an AMAZING game imo. It’s a dungeon crawler game where you become a Pokémon, and then go to stop crimes in a Pokémon world plagued by natural disasters and high crime rate. The music and story in that game is the best the Pokémon game’s have ever had.

@@savvythedivineyethuggable7493 there’s not really a “place to start” the mystery dungeon games of each generation are pretty standalone. The DX remakes are pretty good to start with story wise, because those games are in the same universe (I believe) as explorers of sky, which is the absolute best game in the dungeons series. Super Mystery Dungeon comes close to explorers, but explorers of sky is THE best

The think I like about Pokémon, Is they’re not afraid to make spin offs, sire some flop but some are good, but despite the fact some flop they keep going, and a lot of them are a pretty fun alternate romp through the Pokémon world

You actually meet Blake Hall several times during the game so I don't know why she acts like you only meet him right before the Darkrai fight. I'm also puzzled why she pronounces Kincaid the way she does. But OH MAN Ranger is a good series. It's very witty. More Jaiden videos to react to? Anything about her bird Ari!

Jaiden's Trip to Japan and Locked Out of My House are another pair of videos that are top tier

Toby Fox (creator of the game Undertale, and I will be VERY surprised if you HAVEN’T heard of Undertale) has made music for main line Pokémon games! He made the Battle Tower theme from Sword/Shield, and he’s made music for Scarlet/Violet that will be used in multiple places!

I’ve heard of undertale!

There’s an even weirder spin-off named Pokémon Conquest… it’s a turn based strategy game similar to Fire Emblem I.e you move your units to the specific target you want to fight but the trainers are based off of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms characters(or Dynasty Warriors) so you have these historic Japanese and Chinese generals using Pokémon to battle each other…

The first Pokemon Ranger game was released a year before Diamond and Pearl to hype up fans for the 4th generation games. Plus, the game has an important side mission that allows you to send a Manaphy egg to Diamond or Pearl.

I'd have to say one of my favourite spin off pokemon games are the pokepark games (2 over 1 but both are great), I never hear them being talked about but they were my childhood and I have those games etched into my mind for probably the rest of my life lmao

Honestly the villains in this game seem more like lads just out to cause chaos for lols than anything else tbf

Day 348 of asking for game theorists FNAF You know I still don't get how you don't like Pokemon music when like 99% of everyone else does. But oh well we have all tastes, but if you do consider playing games from Gen 5 and onward atleast try to listen to the music, because the music gets insane Gen 5 onward.

I must have played through Pokémon Ranger at least 20 seperate times as a Kid. I LOVED this game.

Team “Dim Sun’s” name is a spin on what state the sun is during a total solar eclipse, ergo how the sun looks when Darkrai’s dark powers could threaten the entire world. Edit: And if I remember correctly, this game was one of the promotional games released around the time of Darkrai being introduced in the mid 2000s.

A couple more you should watch are from SmallAnt. His Platinum No Damage run and his Shiny Only run of Soulsilver. The Platinum No Damage is pretty fun to watch.

@@theduckgoesmoo ha ha yeah it’s very tedious at the start, but gets easier about a third of the way through. Trust me, it’s well worth the watch.

I didn't own any of the Ranger games, but a friend of mine lend this exact game to me and yes, I loved it!

Honestly, any Jaiden video within the last four or five years is really good. If you haven't already, I DO recommend the video "Why I Don't Have A Face Reveal". But that's just because it's a more serious video than her others and I do think it's important to have seen it.

The spin-offs tend to be better because new games need to focus, on some level, on new Pokemon, new mechanics, etc. while spin-offs look at what exists and goes "any fun ideas we can do with what we already have?" Even when new mechanics are introduces in these spin-offs it is for the sake of that spark of what would be fun, unlike new mechanics in mainline games which often seem like the mechanic was thought of before anything else.

I always hated the original Ranger game, but I adore the sequels. The added progression elements did the series a world of good

My FAVORITE childhood series, especially the gigantic second game, but less so the third one.

MandJTV's Gamplay Videos are always a good Choice to watch

Generation 5 onwards has Pokémon's best music. Even Generation 8, which was very divisive, is regarded as some of the best music in Pokémon. Legends Arceus has one particular track, though, that we can all point to as amazing.

Where did you hear that? The only theme from Gen 8 anyone seems to care about is the Gym Leader theme, and one song can't carry a while soundtrack. Although, you don't really hear anyone talk about Gen 6's soundtrack at all. Or about Gen 6 in general really.

@@kevinbell5674 Gen 6's soundtrack isn't paid much attention because they're songs with tons of buildup, they're all surprisingly long, but the battles those good songs play over are incredibly short if you forget to turn off the EXP Share. Like, Kalos's E4 and Champion themes are among the best in the series in my humble opinion, Xerneas and Yveltal share a really solid theme, and even the guitar remix of the wild battle theme is incredibly solid. And, with remakes in the mix, the Primal theme is incredible, Steven's new theme remix is just as intense as it deserves, Deoxys gets an incredible new remix, and Zinnia's battle theme is still occasionally played in Pokémon/Smash videos to this day as buildup for hype.

Pokémon ranger guardian sign is my favorite haven’t played the other two just that one to me that one is better than the other two

Pokemon Ranger and The Temple of the Sea is the best movie especially when it gets near the Samiya parts, Samiya btw is the Sea Temple.

I hope you do Jaiden's "The most underrated game you've never heard of." It is one of my favorite DS games ever.

There are a lot of neat spinoffs, I would also recommend Crystal Clear if you haven't already heard of it. It's a ROMhack that someone took Pokemon Crystal and made it open world, with a lot of cool features so it's a coherent game and not a janky mess. Would definitely recommend.

I loved the ranger games. I wish they popped out more ranger games during the DS’s lifespan.

For a recommendation I'd suggest: Jaiden Animations Dating simulators. Though she recently changed the name of the video to "Dating things I shouldn’t" It is probably one of my favorites of hers.

You could always try asdf that you put on that original pole. Or Jaiden’s run of Mario Kaizo

I think you should check out TheAMaazing. In particular, his Maafia videos (yes, with two "a"), where he animated 2 different Mafia games between several KZread animators. It'd be a good introduction to other animators who do videos similar to Jaiden's. He's actually collaborated with her before as well, though she's no featured in the Maafia videos.

I think you should start playing the rest of the mainline pokemon games starting with gen 5 to see if you like them.

I recommend Jaiden's Japan Vacation video. It's a lot of fun

I want a new game, there has to be a way to provide a new and more comfortable way to ensnare Pokemon (forgot what those capture things were called) instead of needing the stylist.

Jaiden vids are amazing, I would reccomend 2 of them: I attempted a Speedrun, and The hardest Mario Game Ever

Mystery dungeon and rangers are games i played Played the first rangers and explorers of sky I did it a lot of times (more with mystery dungeon) and i never got bored, i just liked to play them, didnt matter if i was at 100% completion, i would just restart from the beginning

Im trying to get an emulator working on my phone so I can play this. I got snes and gba already. Hey Mr mooing duck, 😂 if you ever get the chance, you need to play Chrono trigger on SNES. There's a reason it's one of the most beloved RPGs of all time. If you want a little history lesson, watch "25th anniversary review and retrospective" by nescomplex. It’s pretty close between the 2nd and 3rd one for me, but I’m going with the 3rd one mostly because of the new mechanics (hidden Pokémon revealed by roaring, flying in real time on Latios/Latias, multiple Pokémon on one clear, etc)
