@@rlud304 I used to feel as you do. Listen to Jackson Browne's "I Am A Patriot" and the distinction becomes clearer. I love my country. That does not mean I don't love other countries and their people. And that does not mean that I don't believe my country should be held to high standards.

I can't believe at ninety years old he now getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame it should have been ages ago.

His embracing, circling round, and walking calmly to the soul of his or anyone's lyric are beyond technique. He is a d**ned fine singer. When he finally goes to where we all hope to go someday, it will be an infinitely richer place. God Bless you, my friend, and I will see you there.

All Willie has been through and can still repeat, Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV, while singing Whiskey River Take My Mind. An amazing individual.

I've been going to see Willie ever since the 70's when my parents drug me to Milwaukee to see him at Summer Fest. He is a legend and one of the most admired people on the planet. If the Rock and Roll HOF is going to induct Dolly and now Willie, it should change its name to the American Music HOF.

The honor it must be to play with Willie Nelson. I can hardly conceive of it. This is one of those iconic songs that no one does better than those who have excelled in country-western, folk and blues music in which the singer proclaims the opposite of what is true to assert the point all the more strongly. Simple images, powerful message, perhaps also from Willie Nelson, the singer, to us the audience to make sure, just in case he doesn't get another chance to say it, and we haven't yet realized it, what he feels about us. I worked for Young Country radio in Seattle in the late 1990's and got to introduce Willie and his band to the crowd at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, WA. THAT was a treat in itself! But the biggest treat was learning from one of the fairs security guys calling in the next morning that AFTER the show, a die-hard Willie Nelson fan got a major score. He'd waited and waited to meet Willie up until the fairs closing time, being told repeatedly that the meet and greet was over. But later, as the tour bus was getting ready to leave the grounds...Willie was told the guy was STILL hanging out. So he said, "Well bring him in!" What a high that guy must have felt! (In addition to the second hand haze already permeating the bus I'm sure...)
