@@przybyla420 , now I use a impact hand piece. Before I got that, hears the best I can suggest. First try a burnisher, starting at curve do not make contact , a gental press . Then do at 3:00 o'clock, then, 9;00. Remember gentle. That will stabilize the stone, when you start tapping, do just like with burnisher, couple mm then directly opposite. DO NOT DO TIP TILL LAST. Then I buff with 600 grit emery stick. I'm really sorry this took so long , I really want you to succeed

i think you need to be more specific flush setting, using burrs to cut for a setting.. i struggle with flush setting myself.

I know you’ve covered this but it’s often tough; properly polishing finished work with different metals on the same piece, brass and silver for example. Or maybe a new video on how to properly cut metal for various pieces like flat cutting, cutting curved metals etc.

great idea for a video. I’ve got two chunks of fire brick I sawed off to make “solder furniture” but they aren’t even even enough to use as props, and that’s it. I bought the titanium strips, but can’t figure out what ways they’re best used. Aaaand I’m still stuck at “bending a T-pin and hope it holds.”

I find bobby pins (hair clips) are very useful for holding pieces together. They can also be bent into various shapes

Yes would love this! I have lots of ideas for random cuts of wire to be soldered together but like how the hell do you keep them in place and how can you make the joins neat when they are not uniform?

Rivets, how to make and set, tube and solid. Different solder joins, round to flat, soldered sleeve/thin sheet around thick wire. Forming, specialized hammers and how metals will move and the degree they move at

but yes as you mentioned hammering an ingot into a sheet or wire that would be a good video to watch! Polishing a 50lb anvil or resurfacing one to get it ready to do such work.

One (more basic) could be: How to make square, conical settings using a square-holed bezel block? Everybody demonstrates round ones, but please do a square one. Another one: how to harden and tempering tool steel/stainless steel. I am playing with bending tubes and need to make the pig-tails to form the curls. You could also make one about making tubings to measure. Or: a bit about making tiny coil-springs for clasps Or: correct use of tiny tap-and-dies for nuts and threads Or: How to use a ring bender without getting all sorts of sharp marks on the outside of the ring Or altogether how to make our own tools. I am sure, you have a collection, you have made by yourself. Or: How to make round wire on a square rolling mill

How to avoid or deal with firescale, I find everything seems to be going well, polish up and then the firescale is visible. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Soldering a back plate onto a decorative back plate - I love the look of stacked back plates on rings and pendants!

Oh I love that question! I am a poor novice metal jewelry artist so can you start a new step by step series? What’s the minimum supplies needed to get started, best places to get equipment on line, what to look for, what to avoid, thinking outside the box for ways to get metals (for instance copper pipes,) and making simple jewelry pieces to sell and build the business. I do work with polymer clay, metal clay, and beading so incorporating these pieces into metal clay and also collaborations with these polymer clay, metal clay, and beading artists on KZread would be awesome. Soldering tips when using gold with comparison to silver... ie. This works for silver but doesn't/ for gold. I'm experienced with silver but only have theoretical knowledge for gold solder . Sharon Spiers I agree with you Sharon. I am just starting to work with gold and would like to see projects using gold. The gold prices are dipping, still expensive, but better. Maybe on you At The Bench venue.

I'm struggling with trying to set a split shank on the side of a bezel cup without bending it. I just can't get it right, everytime I think I've got it, the cup ends up deformed and unable to fit the stone in.

use a very thick gauge for the base of the bezel cup too.

How about how to make 3mm bezels (especially when your fingers are sized z+)? How to make and use impression dies? Making and using pancake dies (including without a press) How to make bezels on a curved cuff bracelet? Flush setting or gypsy setting a cab and faceted stone into a ring, bracelet or other curved surface? What to do with a stack of pre-decimal copper coins (apart from the obvious coin rings, lockets, rocket ships, zepplins, steampunk goggles, conchas and squash flowers).

Done rings, necklaces, pendants, cufflinks, tie pins, stick pins, goggles styled cravat pin, desktop ornamental rocket and currently working on a concho bracelet (but need to make 3mm/3.5mm bezels for some coral and turquoise). I'm working in copper, brass and nickel which gets sealed to prevent tarnishing.

Anything on shaping and sharpening gravers. Which are the best tools to help getting the angles correct. Thanks very much Andrew, keep well. 😊

Kudos Andrew! I'm trying to solder a very fine chain directly onto a diamond already set in a 4-prong basket setting. It was previously soldered to my mother's old box chain, which over the years had gone a little wonky. I've cut the old chain away, but I melted the new chain a few times trying to attach it to the setting, so have ordered some easy 18K solder to see if it will help. Some pointers will be much appreciated! I can send pics!

John Fore. In the UK and EU(for now) Cooksongold is a good supplier, who often does free delivery too. But I would stay away from amazon if you could, because they don’t treat their suppliers very well...

I aso got some extras for the foredom from metal clay limited that i couldn't find elsewhere (duplex adapter & extra long flex shaft)

These are the steps that work for me: 1. Use center punch to mark the piece. 2. Put a piece of wood under your piece 3. Keep the drill in a 90 degree angle 4. Hold the drill steady, do not put pressure on drill to force into metal, let the drill do the work.

How to get a proper polished finish on a sterling piece ~ right from fire stain to the finish. I’ve been hand making for ten years and am mostly self taught and I Still struggle to this day with a good even shiny finish!! And thank you and stay safe/happy in lock down!

Hi Andrew. I work with silverware of different compositions. Stainless, silver plated and sometimes sterling. Many times I find difficulties soldering some of the plated pieces with regards to heating techniques, which solders, fluxes and such. As you know, silverware varies in size and shape so that’s also a large factor. Since following your channel, I try to use the borax cone and dish but sometimes, when I’m have difficulty, I found using other fluxes may help me. Regardless of the wonderful channels on the subject out there, I thought you would certainly have good info and techniques. Thanks.

Andrew, I love the idea of live webcasts. We had such great fun in the Periscope days. I was going to suggest a live broadcast of some sort.

I have been making 1" to 1-1/4" etched, domed round pendants in 18 and 20 gauge argentium nickel silver and copper with wire bails of the same material soldered to the back so they are not visible. As a novice, the soldering has been tricky for me. I flattened the end of the wire to mate nicely with the back of the pendant but still having trouble. I have tried different solders, fluxes and techniques but have not been able to create a consistently nice result. A video on this would be greatly appreciated. I've learned a tremendous amount from your videos and I thank you for that.

Andrew, how about a video using different metals, like aluminium? It is easily recycled from cans, hypoallergenic and soft to work with. The only caveat is you can't solder it like silver so riveting and other tricks might come in handy.

My problem is this: Jeweler's saw blades, how do you tell which is which once they are out of the package? I only have one saw frame so I change blades depending on what I am cutting. I put the blade I removed aside because it is still usable, however I do not put it back in the envelope with unused blades. When I am finished cutting and move on to another task, I do not always remember what blade I had/have in the frame, so it may not be the right one for the next project. As a result I have a collection of used, but still usable, saw blades with unknown TPI. My eyes are not sharp enough to attempt to count the TPI, so what is the solution? Thanks so much, I have truly learned a great deal from you. My personal favorites are the soldering tricks, my metal melting and soldering failures have decreased greatly thanks to you sharing your knowledge.

Stuff to do with cheap metal, awful flux and awful solder. I have lots of steel wire, solder and also a few fluxes. I made a net needle that did OK with outrageous amounts of solder. I'm afraid it's too toxic to gift but I like it anyway. I don't have a budget for fine materials but I do want to learn filigree before I die.

Could you make a video on a silver ring with an irregularly shaped opal in a bezel setting? I have quite a few opals that are not "standard " I'd like to try making them at the bench, but am a new learning maker. Thanks Andrew.
