I love y’all so very much, so please don’t take my advice the wrong way. I remember when Jami got all the OG geese as babies and had them in a big trough. She went outside every day trying to make them friendly. Look at them today, they don’t charge or chase her, but they don’t allow her to pet them either. I would say try to spend time around the goslings so they know you’re ok, but don’t take them away from the parents.❤

Please leave them with their mother and father. Let nature take its course. Trying to tame them is sweet but perhaps a little unrealistic just be around them as they grow and maybe they will get used to you. That’s the best you can do. don’t be cruel and take them away from their parents. I know you have a kind heart and would only want the best for them.❤❤❤🙌🏻

Let mama goose raise her hatchlings without human interaction since they are already born. As for preventing goose, duck, or chicken hatching in the future, take the eggs from the nest daily as a form of birth control. You and LE have enough farm chores to do per day without trying to raise and tame any more hatchings in addition to running ISS with proper care.

This time I would let the babies stay with their family. But you may want to collect all eggs in the future. Without Tiny Tim collecting eggs every day, you may get eventually overrun! You really need a pig to do an egg patrol! 💖🤔💖😉😊

I may be wrong Megan, but it seems to me that Jamie was socializing the geese when they were little so is that something you have to keep up? I’ve been around a lot of geese and yes, yours are loud and yes, they like to chase after you, but they’re more social than that here in Minnesota.

Since Tiny Tim (population control) isn't around to eat the eggs as they are laid any longer. I suggest you borrow Paw Paw's brooder and collect eggs from under geese or ducks and hatch them yourself. That way there is no attachment to a mama but you. But if something isn't done you are going to be over run by ducks and geese.

I don't know anything about birds/geese/ducks... so my opinion may be impossible. Yet, I will say that if it is possible to make them, even partially like Pablo was, I'd say go for it. That is if this is something you want to do. I don't think you would be breaking up the family, just making it better. Better for all if the animals of any species are friendly. You also may be able to get the pup better adjusted to the ducks/geese if there is some you could actually interact with and help her interact with in a friendly manner. Love you guys, and no matter what you decide, I think you all are doing a wonderful job!❤

Birds, like many animals, required a ton of time to make the tame. Daily sitting with them and hand feeding would eventually make progress. That is the only way and it would be a forever commitment. Jami got too busy to deal with them and they went back to the flock dynamic. Maybe if you sat on a bucket in the pasture away from all the other animals .. just the geese around, you might make progress. There are wild geese at a park near me and they are so used to people feeding them that they will eat out of your hands. If you want to pet them you would need a goose to choose you as its mate. That is nice but also can be annoying. Then that one goose will be protective of you. 😂 Geese are incredible parents so I would leave the babies with them. That one momma seems friendly enough. She isn’t hissing at you as much as some of the others. Maybe she is a way in with the hand feeding? Then her babies will be less scared too 😊❤ Just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️💚

  • @wendybuckey3807

Maybe just keep feeding them in a special place like where they are nesting right now so they get used to having that food in that spot and they will come up to you and allow you to get close to them and maybe pet on them. Otherwise, they will stay with mom and dad. If mom and dad are trusting enough to come to get their food in that spot Where they are currently laying, maybe they will be more gentler towards you, but otherwise living in the farm yard. I think it would be way too much time on your part to continuously have goslings follow you everywhere you go all throughout the day. And as others have said, you might have to keep them next to your hip at all times. That would be too much work. Best of luck. They certainly won’t be a Pablo… But that would be nice! Sure miss Pablo. 🥰

If you want friendly geese Meg you really need to have it glued to your hip and take it everywhere with you take it from me who used to raise quails and quails can easily fly away and I literally had to take it everywhere with me and it did never flew away just make sure it’s glue to your hip at all times even when you go to sleep have it next to you. I know you don’t want to have a smelly Gosling in the house but just literally keep it clean and have a diaper on it. 😊 good luck I can’t wait to see your journey with it. 😊😊

Sanctuary not a petting zoo. Please respect the natural needs of the animals. Why take away their babies so you can pet them? They teach their young how to live, feed, survive. Imagine having your babies taken from you after birthing, or hatching 🐣 Please leave them to be raised by their parents.

Megan, if you want Sassy to be able to be able to set/hatch her eggs, you might want to do what Brooke @ Cog Hill is doing for her Victoria Crown pigeons. She made a "sided" box for their nest, so that eggs wouldn't be able to fall out. L.E. , or Jake, could make one for that area, with 6" sides ( 1x6 boards ), and, using a ladder, put it up there for Sassy to have her nest inside of the "box". That way, her eggs would be safe. Just a suggestion, since you're losing fertilized eggs every day. If you don't care about the loss, just forget what I suggested. Good luck~~
