I NEED A ROOT CANAL! - Pregnancy and Dental Issues

Today I found out that I will be needing a root canal! After 5+ years of avoiding dentists, I guess I can't avoid them anymore!
I had a filling fall out over 6 months ago. I didn't have any pain, so I figured I could ignore it. Now, at 3 months pregnant, it's started hurting pretty badly and I had to see a dentist. The densist informed me that I would need a root canal or a tooth extraction due to it now being absessed.
This is not at all what I had planned for my pregnancy. From having an absess/infection to getting an xray to taking antibiotics and later needing to freeze my mouth and have a root canal performed... As someone who is obsessed with being "natural" and "healthy", I just did not expect for things to take this route during my pregnancy (the time when I thought I would be the MOST natural and healthy).
In the end, I'm grateful for the health that I DO have. Baby seems to be safe and healthy so far, and I've been assured that all of the steps we are taking will be perfectly fine for the pregnancy. I'm also going to be so happy to have the tooth fixed, no longer giving me pain, and to hopefully feeling better with the infection gone.
Thank you so much for watching! Please subscribe for more pregnancy updates!

I’m 5 months pregnant now and had an emergency root canal done yesterday. I’m in so much pain. This is baby #2 and I never had problems with my teeth only when I’m pregnant. With my first pregnant I got cavities and had to get fillings and after that suddenly my wisdom teeth bothered me and I had to remove all of them. Pregnancy can touch.

I relate so much to this video- pregnant and needing a root canal, filling fell out early early pregnancy and because of dental trust issues waited until root canal was necessary:(

I’m going through this myself 12 weeks pregnant! A tooth that I had a root canal on, is causing me problems. Chewing hurts, I’m not in agonizing pain like when it gets super bad. But it’s just dull and constant.

Oh my goodness! Yes, it takes a while for those bacteria to get in there and do some damage but it will eventually hit hard. I hope you'll feel better soon XOXO

I know this is kinda an old video but I had an abscess tooth and got a root canal yesterday. The funny thing is that I never even had a cavity. I had a microscopic crack from grinding my teeth. The bacteria got into the crack then into the pulp and voila!

TheLaura21774 root canals often get infected and are done improperly in the US. So that’s $1,000 down the fucking drain and for a bonus you get to have a missing tooth. Currently dealing with the same thing. The infection was so severe it ate away at my jaw bone. That meant I needed bone transplant and that wasn’t done right either and shifted and now I spit a little when I talk. I fucking hate dental work.

And sometimes unexpected things happen that you can't control and so we have to just go with it and get it done because you're doing what's best for you and the baby. The pros outweigh the cons of meds sometimes. Life throws us curveballs sometimes. You're doing great and are concerned about your baby's health and that already makes you a wonderful momma!

@@PorschaRenee I didn't need any pain killers! Some people do, but for some reason I felt fine. A week afterwards my tooth felt sensitive for about a week but then that went away and I haven't felt anything since.

simon292pass I just counted them last night- looks like 5 fillings, including the one that fell out (it seemed like much more when I was little and had to go to the dentist to get them). They are all silver 😕, but the root canal tooth will have a porcelain cap/crown. If I could have chosen back in the day, I would have rather not had that yucky mercury put in my mouth... it was all around 20+ years ago though

Don't get a porcelain crown! they don't last long enough for the price they are,and they excessively wear the tooth above/below. Get a gold one and it will last forever.
