I can't believe Christian music has gotten THIS GOOD!

I am a 60 year old woman and I loved it! I use to be judgmental, looking at songwriters hair, tatoos, piercings etc and judging them unrighteously. God convicted me of this many years ago telling me to look at their heart as He does. Brandon, it was an excellent song, full of life (in more than one way), and a great testimony to the world! Thank you! Yeah I have tattoos and long hair but I gave my life to Christ when I was 5 and have been living for Him ever since (not to say I never strayed) but I've always loved God as far back as I can remember and have always been a part of the church. His grace saved me from having any kind of wild season of life. People often think I have a crazy past and when I tell them I'm a Pastor's son and have always been in the church, it kind of throws them off. Appreciate you looking at the heart, as Christ does. I really feel like the people that got offended by this aren’t as strong in their relationship with Christ as they think...the second I heard the song my heart immediately went on the jolt spirit. Wasn’t until later I saw people were arguing about this song? Like what? Why did they immediately start thinking about “other spirits” or “context”...as long as you make the holy trinity (our god!!) the first and final thought god will see that! 🌹

Just when I think that I must, by now, have heard every song Brandon Lake has recorded, God makes that KZread algorithm pop up something new to me that I LOVE. I've had this on loop all morning while I clean my house, just feeling the Holy Spirit in the room rocking out with me. If you should read this comment on an old video by some chance: Awesome, Brandon. Just awesome. When I was a teenager I wished for really good Christian rock music, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm happy to see that God put that desire in you as well, and that you answered his call. May God richly bless you and yours. You're really being a blessing to those of us who're listening.

Yes and all 88 scriptures refer to “THE” Holy Spirit(Ghost). It’s the context in which he used the song that is misleading. When you say I need “A” Ghost or “A” Holy Ghost you are no longer referring to THE Holy Ghost. It’s like saying I need a god. I need a holy god. Tell me where in scripture does the Bible reference as “A” Holy Ghost? Not once in all 88 scriptures. Scripture refers to Holy Sprit and Holy Ghost as “THE.” Meaning one. So it’s not the word itself but the way he used it. Bottom line, he should have spent more time studying the Holy Ghost in scripture and thought it through...Am I giving listeners the actual scriptures in the correct context?????

That seemingly small change has changed their whole perception of who Jesus is and has led them into a false gospel and into ultimately following a false Christ. Words matter.

Bless you Arlene. 65 Year old here and I love it too. AWESOME song, especially if they listen to THE ENTIRE song, in context and don't just take 4 words OUT of context.

First - Brandon Lake has been ON FIRE all year. Each song has been amazing and spirit led! Second - As most everyone has mentioned, look at the lyrics of the song and the context. The title of the song (and the fact that it's a straight banger!) are going to reach people that may not normally listen to Christian music and therefore be impacted by Christ. This song allows Christ's Holy Spirit to be a talking point and further share the gospel. We can't get hung up on small semantics if the intent and body of the message is truth and biblically sound. There are plenty of things in this world that we as Christ followers should spend our energy on...nitpicking this song title isn't one of them.

Makayla I’m in agreement with you there, I’m simply saying that we will be known by our love for one another. And when we admonish one another it isn’t something we take joy in, Paul says he did it in tears. As believers we handle disputes differently, not publicly showing division in comment sections. My prayer is that he is submitting to an authority based in Gods truth. I believe in THE Holy Ghost, and I believe that Brandon does as well, as evidenced by his comment. But I understand people’s argument, I just think that it shouldn’t be in a public forum. Above all I pray we seek God and find him! He is truth! God bless you!

Jerran Duty I agree, we need to be careful in how we engage over disagreements. I can’t know a persons heart but I understand concerns about wording. We shouldn’t engage in discussion out of pride and self righteousness. I guess since the song is public that’s why people are speaking about it publicly though. we need to make sure it’s in a loving way and not bickering. I don’t know Brandon or his heart and I never will and he may believe in the Holy Ghost I just think people’s concerns are with baby Christians or people who this may confuse and that’s why they are speaking about it

The Lord says in his words to test the spirits. Each person had to discern for themselves and doesn’t matter how famous you are, if it doesn’t align with the Word, it’s false teaching. No where in scripture is THE Holy Ghost referred to as an “A.” So it’s misrepresentation and misleading. No one should be singing I need a ghost even if your mean it the other way, since it’s not giving God the full credit you open doors to invite other spirits in. Just because people don’t agree doesn’t mean we will be silenced. When Jesus brought correction and flipped them tables he wasn’t doing it to be kind. I’m just saying. He brought correction and the problem with this generation is nobody wants us to stand against the flow if it’s incorrect. We just want to cover up incorrect theology teaching or songs and say let’s all be happy and kind. Nah bro, Jesus wasn’t all super sweet when he was correcting those in the church, he was straight forward with firmness. For those who actually spend time reading the Bible and studying scriptures deeply, we know for a fact even the simplest letter or word reference can make an entire difference and interpretation. I just pray that Brandon will understand it’s not coming from attack, but you have to understand that if we are going to represent THE Holy Spirit, we have to do it correctly and 💯 ! All love ✌️

@@cherish2u85 It is quite biblical, and not just a personal opinion, as Acts 1:8 say's; "But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:". This very same power gave Peter the boldness to preach the great message were 3,000 souls were saved, Acts 2:14-41. But I must say calling those that caught Brandon changing "the Ghost" with "a Ghost", just "religious spirits" is a bit inaccurate, as a better name would be "bereans " Acts 17:10,11.

Clearly when, as you say, we are referencing the Holy Spirit, we should honor him with his title “the” Ghost as opposed to just “a” Ghost! @@petratical it's not about being technical but it's about what was the truth. Anyone who has a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit knows. Just like we referenced the name of Jesus Christ the holy spirit is sacred in reference in one title of either the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. To leave it as I need a ghost a name by itself that can be extremely confusing and referencing an evil spirit or familiar spirit as a Christian is not right. I'm not here to please anyone but the Lord Jesus Christ and he is not pleased with this Im sorry.

I've lived through car wrecks, where my body was wrecked, been healed of spine birth abnormalities, healed from Deer Tick bites (5), had and recovered from Covid 19, yes, I NEED A HOLY.GHOST!!! GLORY!!!!

There’s no formula I can rightly give but I can tell you there’s something about dwelling in the good things around you and in you. I know for sure God constantly stretches his hand out when I fall back in depression and sadness, I always find there’s something that he places that can help me climb up and its the tough decision of accepting that life is still worth living and there’s so much beauty even after death. So I can tell you, open your heart to receiving his joy and begin to believe there’s still Joy even if Mama is no more. Not much about 2020 has been good...God will redeem it and this is definitely one of the God things!!!!

So many of you are not reading this song in context. He is saying...”I need a Holy Ghost awaken in my soul...” If you separate the ghost from awaken, it leads you to “I need a Holy Ghost”. That’s not an accurate interpretation. Go back and connect that as ONE thought. Also, he only uses I need a ghost a Holy Ghost as a hook but we know what Spirit he’s referring to. Sharee S The song sounds good, but we need to make sure the theology behind songs that are “Christian” are biblical. Even if it’s incorrect in just one area. False teachings can damage people’s walk with God, that’s why people are concerned and pointing out their concerns. Righteous judgement is commanded of us, it’s hypocritical judgement that is wrong. The difference between “a” and “the” may seem minor to y’all but its a distinction that’s larger than we think. Think about the Jehovah’s witnesses translation of the Bible the new world translation. In John 1:1 when describing Jesus their translation says the “in the beginning the word and the word was with God and the word was a god” instead of the correct translation “in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God”. That seemingly small change has changed their whole perception of who Jesus is and has led them into a false gospel and into ultimately following a false Christ. Words matter.

The song released in iTunes last night. The chorus and all throughout the song repeats, “I need a HOLY Ghost” . Who knows why it’s titled the way it is, but I wonder - would a non-believer be persuaded to listen to it, while we who know Him know and understand the heart and intent of the message? What if the non-believer would ask you or me - “what is a ghost? What is a Holy Ghost?” Giving us the opportunity to share about Him - His presence, direction, comfort, teaching, goodness .... just posing a question. What if?

We all need THE HOLY SPIRIT! That's we are to be baptized in the holy spirit and fire and speak in tongues, just as the bible says. The holy spirit is the only way we as Christians can connect directly to God, that's why he sent us the Holy Ghost to have the mind of Christ and the 9 gifts of the Spirit. Also, speaking in tongues and praying in tongues ( its our heavenly language) is encouraged to do regularly regardless what your church may or may not say about tongues. God is Spirit so we must worship him in Spirit!
