Yes!! I would buy one
The amount of knowledge needed to do the level of work you do is impressive. You may as well be a PhD in paint and collision work.
Thank you and Demri so much for supporting Tread Lightly! And allowing the final owner to decide about the b-pillar was such a great idea. Can’t wait to see it in person and see everyone’s reaction this summer. 🤩

Is it Dars or the back of Robbys new rollback?
Really amazing to watch you do all the different steps to getting something painted. I would have never dreamed there were so many things to do and so much required knowledge. WOW!!! NICE JOB GUYS!!!
Poppa Dar’s utility truck bed looks awesome.
Robby was that an HVLP gun you were using for the base coats? It would be interesting to some of us if you would talk about the different guns you use, why you use them, pressures, etc. Thanks for the consistently high quality content. You've got a great crew and that speaks well for how you run your business.
Amazing how easy it's is To be so involved in your videos ! Yet I'm sitting home in my recliner!
Robby's movements with the spray gun make it look like a robot is doing the painting. Fascinating.
I just love to watch when you spray panels it’s a work of art
Jeep looks bad-ass! Flawless paintwork. Very nice job guys!
Coming along nicely! What a beautiful colour❤👍
Love the videos. I have a question, can you do a bit on how you deal with the small spots where the painting is blocked by the places you need to use to hang panels? Thanks.
Always appreciate the effort and quality put into the work even with some set backs at times, always top quality. 🙌
Always been fascinated by the way you bring cars back to their original form or better.
In aviation, we etch and Alodine aluminum prior to paint to protect the metal. We thoroughly clean the surface, we do not sand. Sanding removes the pure aluminum facing on the sheet metal that is naturally corrosion resistant.

The doors are not Alclad, most likely 6061.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper

Aerospace is about the only widespread application for alclad, and you definitely don't want to sand it. That's why there's so many "aircraft paint remover" products out there, it's the only safe way to remove paint from aircraft so it has to do the job. I dunno if you watch Mike Patey's channel, but while he was building his cub, he sanded the alclad to "give it an etch" for paint and sealers to adhere to, even inside the fuel tanks of all places. For all the great work he does, to see him doing that really melted my brain. I don't care what you put over it, you just don't do that to alclad.

@@Skinflaps_Meatslapper At least it’s still a highly resistant aluminum alloy underneath. Not like its going to fall apart anytime soon on a private recreational plane. But yes, everyone has those, “doh!” Moments.

It's fun to see the process. It will be awesome to see this Jeep and the Golden Nugget complete.
OMG Y'all are so positive! Factory color variants are such a PITA.
Robby and his crew takes so so much pride in their work.🇺🇸
Great video as always I like the end when Dinner is pointing the other direction you guy's are fun to watch & do awesome bodywork & paint 😉👍
Robbie you're the Best! I just had my Ranger truck fender and roof repainted and had more dust specks in them than when I took it in for. Wish you were close to VA.
I like Dinners hair cut. He looks like he's ready to join the Airborne. High and Tight. Good look Dinner. 👍😉
There was this beautiful canyon named Choke Cherry Canyon in Farmington, NM that had some of the most exciting 4x4 trails. Fast forward 20 years and it is completely worn flat from jeepers and razors. No trees, no bushes, no staggered sandstone formations. Just bald sand Stone formations worn to nothing.
Robbie and Crew YOU ARE FANTASTIC!
Shoutout to the Dream Team at Robby Layton’s Shop 💙 👍 Hillbilly, Dinner, Cody and yes Robby …. Thank You sharing 💪
Robby, always appreciate the detail you go into.
A seasoned subscriber will recognize what else was sitting in the paint booth while Robby was painting the doors. Also was that Ole’ Red sitting in the shop? Sure looked like Him!!! 10 VARIANTS!!!! Ridiculous!!!
Been watching since the start of the Golden Nugget. Thank you for explaining what blow tack and static means. I didn’t know if that was 2 or 3 different steps and what the steps were exactly
At 7:10 of the video. That spray out card looks perfect! You only thought you were wrong. Luckily you were only mistaken. LOL I'm sure it looks fine when your done. Nice Job and thanks for teaching us a few things as you go.
Robby - great tips on painting new alloy - I have a RV I need to paint that has lots of new alloy panels
Looking fantastic as always, your level of knowledge... Amazing.
Awesome build. Ty for sharing the experience:)

Another reason I love your channel Robby: I learn something new every time. Here I thought having the color code was the only way to ensure you have it correct to match. Who came up with the variance options? What a curveball. Does that apply to different materials to ensure the colors is accurate? I spied Papa Dar's Knapheide Service bed being painted. Can't wait to see that video. The giveaway Jeep looks so nice Robby! Excellent job!
Funny Robby,...the red thing in the back ground in the paint booth is the Utility box for Pappa Dar's new truck...!
Dinner, is lookin fly with the new dew. Enjoy your channel. Quirky jokes are great.
Awesome job and video color matching is really hard to do, I painted a hood 4 times before I was satisfied that the color match
Omg, I never dreamed there was so much to CORRECTLY painting Robby has to be a genius in disguise.
Them doors are really nicely made. Thick Aluminum too. Beautiful! 🍩
Dinner! Love the hair cut! You guys are awesome and so dedicated
Man i wish i could paint like you, gorgeous work.
Robby you seem to always have the right tool for every job.
Love the painting music. Great crew you have.
Variant. Definition. : factory made ten mixes that coated more than 25 jeeps each. Built the varient into the paint code but didn't add beginning and end of each varient to the list by vin. Thanks jeep!
We love you no matter what you do Robby. 😍
Ah, Easter egg time huh! Poppa Dar's truck Bed! I do believe I seen a smile on Code's face
Now I know why my Dodge white is wrong, even taking the paint code off the door! Thanks Robby!
You are the BEST peeps....... Love your work!
Papa Dar's service box has color. Did I miss a video? Gotta love matching colors. The sun faded cars in your area will stress a person to the edge. Good video and another job down.
Yeees! Dinner looking smart with that fresh haircut, he’s my favourite on the team 🤗
Lol " butt match" Always a pleasure!. Ty to all the crew. You all make Humpday and the day of rest %100 my favorite dayz!.
Going to look great when done. U guy's do very good work. Thanks for video stay safe and keep up the great work.
Excellent work as always!
O yes I would accept that jeep in a heart beat..I love all of your work
Nice paint on the fab rats service body 😉😉!
Thanks Guys
Robby, there are wash primers intended for use on aluminum. The acid component is phosphoric acid. If you don't want to use wash primer, you can use Alodine to chemically treat aluminum for maximum paint adhesion.
Hey Robby due you think that you could do some quick videos on a run-of-the-mill repair, like the black vinyl wrap on the window frames that crack and peel.
I used to think that the guys at Kingdig Custom were the best vehicle painters in the world, but I have never seen them do the wax & grease or blow tac and static steps, and I don't remember them starting with an epoxy coat either. They certainly don't put as much work into their prep as Robby does either. So I am now certain sure that Robby Layton is officially the best vehicle painter in the world.

You DO realize they don't show EVERY step they take on TV right? I agree Robby is the best, but neither shows EVERYTHING. One KZread channel was accosted for not greasing a rebuilt machine. First, it was a mock up assembly, and second, if you don't know how to grease stuff, maybe watching a video on rebuilding a machine on KZread, isn't how you should be spending your time.

@@haroldphipps3457 But having seen a LOT of episodes, you would think the entire process would be revealed by a sort of law of averages. Kingdig has also repeatedly made the point of not touching bear metal with an un-gloved hand. I started my working life as a toolmaker at Ford UK Product development finishing as a design engineer, so I have a reasonable idea how stuff works. ;-)
As always, great painting explanation. As they are aluminum, anodizing the doors would have been cool too. Of course, that would not have been a paint color match.
Good job on the give away Jeep, I like it. I would've liked to see you guys fix the weld distortions on the outer doors. I can't unsee it! All well, I guess its getting covered up with stickers anyway. Thumbs up for the G Nug!
A small chunk of Brake Line and Bicycle Brake cable is what i use for stoppers!
Can we like have a video of the basics of spraying ... e.g say we had a compressor at home and wanted a better finish then rattle can ...... a basic how to mix the paint u would get from a normal body shop supplies etc
All that Beautiful Aluminum and Your going to sand and paint it! Damn
I would have painted the doors black. But that's because I love black.👍🏽🤘🏾😎😊🙋🏽♂️🙏🏽
Great work Robby and team!
Awesome vid again to all of you gee Dars utility bed I mean that thing we didn't see looks really good I mean um geez those doors came out pretty dang good and a crimper a crimper as long as it does the job
Those door handles make me chuckle. That rectangular design dates way back to the days Jeep was owned by AMC. The same handles are on Hornets, Gremlins, Pacers... So that means they're either vintage and cool or lazy and cheap.
Yo do an awesome job showing how highly skilled someone must be to do the work you do.
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Such great attention to detail 👍🏼
Good on ya for getting the paint right! When someone wins this they may not want all the stickers!
Sandstone ledges just aren't that picky about what color they scratch off the doors.
Nice work on the Jeep, I like you do own your mistake unlike some others.
Thanks. Nice buzz Dinner!
Now this is my opinion yes I know it’s like tail holes every one has one but polished aluminum would look awesome
What you call red pad is also known as maroon pad, we use it for wood floors too.
You guys are fun to watch.
That's a beautiful color.
The doors are looking good 🔥 🔥 🔥
I love how dinner closes his eyes when he laughs I don't know why LoL 😂

A paint code that really irritates me is the “Radar Blue Metallic” for a 1994 Chevy S-10. The body shop that painted, repainted, and continued to repaint my aftermarket hood until finally giving up and telling me I’d have to pay to repaint my whole truck to get it to match left a sour memory. My truck was a real pretty blue, but would shift to purple when it was clean and the sun would hit it just right. The hood kept coming out people and would shift to blue in the right light. 20 years later, and seeing several other trucks with the factory color, and I learned that my truck had already been repainted once… the hood was the color the truck should have been all along.
Back in the day I had a metallic 1974 Ford Ranchero “special paint”, needed a fender repainted. It stuck out like a sore thumb.
ROBBIE LAYTON.... WE MIX AND SPRAY PAINT UNTIL WE GET IT RIGHT...!!!! That's professionalism at it's finest...!!!! Great job guys for having Robbie's back when he screws up...!!!!
Beautiful!!
You all are doing such a good job a great job on the giveaway Jeep
You guys are the best. Love your vids.
Thank you for the awesome content!
On the tablet I watched this video it was the first try that was the better one. Course that is worthless, as it could be the screen, settings, old tired eyes etc. But it kind of of looks like the doors now has a slight reddish hue. Great work and great videos.
The cable gimps are called 'cable ferrule' Keep the awesome videos coming Cheer from Tasmania
Really good to see how meticulous you are with my Jeep lol 😂 thanks
We Enjoy ALL YOUR VIDEOS ! ! ! 👍👍
Thanks for saving the pillar Dinner!!
I like the stainless look better than paint. My in game GTA cars were completely chrome every time.
Robbie don't worry too much about the match. when I win it the doors will be off 90% of the time. keep up the great work
Lookin good!
great video with all the tech tips
oddly satisfying. great term.
Well at least with there being more coats of paint is should last pretty well at least till who ever winds up as the owner scrapes it against some rocks. Looks good.
Nice job as always!!
The giveaway Jeep looks awesome!
