If you ever get to go to Arlington, the vibe noticeably changes, especially at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It feels like legitimate sacred ground with the amount of souls buried there. Hope you get to visit it.

We have several family members buried at Arlington National Cemetery. We remember their lives and sacrifices for this country. and honor them. The men and women who served their country, fought and died for their country, did not make those sacrifices for a political party, but for their COUNTRY. God bless them.

I'm a grandmother. They've grown up too fast. Maybe in the very soon years to come I'll be a great grandmother. I will be standing with you. I was in the Air Force 1977 to 1980. It was peace time so your tour was only 3 years. It's where I met my husband. I'm so proud of his commitment to country and community. He spent his entire adult life defending them. I miss him every day. He carried my heart with him. Anyway, I too am a proud Republican. We have to save our country. ❤ from Tennessee. We think we're Texas' little sister. My step daughter and two of my bio daughters were born in Wichita Falls, Texas, Sheppard Air Force Base. So I think I qualify as an honorary Texan

Teresita, thank you for your reply, it means a lot to me. I was born in Colorado, but came to my beloved Texas in 1956. I too feel like a Texan and I love people from Tennessee. My husband served in the Air Force and my son in the Navy. We lived in South Africa for 2 years and I was so happy to come home. There is no place like home. I also love South Africa, they need prayer, it was once wealthy and now the whites are begging in the streets. It breaks my heart to see anyone begging for food. Much love to you my sister from America. I always watch this British guy, love his reactions and he thinks like us, I believe he said that he will be moving to America soon. I say WELCOME, glad you are here!

I'm in Killeen, my brother served for 10 years stationed at Ft. Hood, which I why I moved to Texas from Arizona. Funny thing, I told myself I would never live in Texas. 😂 I had a friend in high school that is a Texan and he raved about Texas. I moved here and love Texas. Killeen is a bit ghetto but still love living in Texas.

So glad you're reacting to this. It's very moving. It is the cemetery for those special heros that went above and beyond. My heart is so greatful for all of my country's military men and women. My late husband was in their company for 20 years. Went to Vietnam twice. Then got spit on when he came home but he stood firm in his convictions and love of our country. Then he retired. He died in my arms at age 63. He passed one month before retiring from the Davidson County Sheriff Department. He always ran toward the danger. He was everything a man should be. All our military is what a man or woman should be. God keep and bless them all.

My husband too was a Viet Nam veteran, served in the Air Force, my son served in the Navy. They both volunteered. My husband passed away also in 2021. After he retired we volunteered with our police department, and I have been doing that for 18 years now. I love the Military men and women. I still cry over the way our servicemen and women were spit on and treated so horribly. We stand behind them and deeply love our country. Your husband was one of our heroes, so was mine. I just now realized that I responded to one of your comments before, my Tennessee sister. We must have a lot in common. Your name Teresia is so beautiful! Love to you from your Texas KZread friend.

It was inspired by United States Marine Corps Corporal Patrick Nixon, who died in battle in 2003. After meeting Nixon's father, Turnbull was inspired to write the song. Adkins said that "This is not a war song, and it has nothing to do with politics. This is a true story."

The song inspired by the story of Corporal Patrick Nixon (U.S. Marine Corp) whose picture is shown near the end of the song along with a picture his gravestone. Corp Nixon's father had related his son's story to songwriter Dave Turnbull who along with Jeremy Spilman wrote the song. Trace Adkins, a huge supporter of the military, was a natural choice to perform the song.

Much like Toby Keith, Trace has lots of patriotic/military themed songs that can hit hard and also many fun songs as well as ballads. He's a supporter and advocate for the Wounded Warrior Project - definitely check out "Til the Last Shot's Fired" live at the CMA awards, and also "Semper Fi" which he wrote in honor of his neighbor who is a marine. For some of the fun songs/videos I'd recommend "Hot Mama", "Swing", "I Got My Game On" and "Mind on Fishin'". For those that will tug on your heartstrings look for "Just Fishin'" (which has his daughter in the video), "You're Gonna Miss This", and "Then They Do". Hope you dive down this rabbit hole like you did with Toby - you won't be disappointed!

It makes me think of my great uncles who served in WWII and who are buried at a local cemetery dedicated to those who served in the defense of our freedoms. I served as a funeral detail officer (on a volunteer basis) leading a team to provide military honors to veterans throughout the State where I was assigned. In every instance, the detail I led was absolutely superb, and we honored our fallen comrades very, very well. Being the officer-in-charge of the detail (at the age of 22) I was the one designated to present the folded flag to the next of kin at each burial. It's not possible to express how honored I was to do this--every time. I've physically been to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, to Bethlehem. to the Temple Mount and the Wailing Wall, and the tomb of John the Baptist in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus (all of which were wonderful experiences), but in all of my experiences, there's no place I've ever been where I felt like I was on holier ground than at Arlington National Cemetery. For a time I lived within walking distance of the Arlington National Cemetery and visited it many times. Every time I felt as if I was on holy ground, please forgive me if that's offensive to anyone's beliefs, I'm just relating how I felt. With respect to this reaction video by Mr. Mikey, the mere fact that he removed his cover (baseball cap) during this video warmed my heart. Mr. Mikey gets it, he gets what it means to show respect. God bless Mr. Mikey.

If y’all ever get the chance to go to Arlington it is amazing. There are many good videos of the changing of the guard of the unknown soldier. Be prepared to cry. God Bless America. I just subscribed.

I saw him at Ft. Bragg a few years ago for their 4th 0f July fireworks. This was the only song of his he didn't sing. Another song that will bring tears to your eyes is The Statler Brothers More Than a Name On the Wall

Great reaction as always. May I suggest a few songs? Til The Last Shot's Fired by Trace Adkins, Gone Away and Wrong Side of Heaven both by Five Finger Death Punch and Christmas Truce by Sabaton. All are related to the military by either lyrics or video.

Oh boy. I have heard this song numerous times and it always gets to me. In February, my uncle died at the age of 88. He spent 20 years in the USMC and was a Korea and Vietnam combat veteran. To me, he was invincible so adjusting to a world without him us hard. Originally his wife was going to select a local cemetery for his burial but I requested Arlington and enough family members agreed so she changed her mind. His burial will be later this year. I can't handle a 21 gun salute, Taps or a missing man formation even if it's someone I don't know. As hard as it will be I am still glad that Arlington will be his resting place. Thank you for this reaction...it really changed the song on a personal level.
