I make emotional dubstep with 15 lines of code (tidal cycles)

Музыка

Inspired by MitiS - Falling Into Mystery (feat. Dia Frampton): • MitiS - Falling Into M...
Animation made in Unreal Engine. This is actually my 1st time trying the Tidal Cycles to Ableton integration and I'm super happy with how it turned out! It was a huge hassle to set up, but it opens up a lot of doors for sound design and for the first time I can implement side-chaining :O. The only downside currently is that I can't put Tidal effects on the Ableton synths.
Also yes, I have a vtuber model now :)

Hi very impressive job ! I have a question for you ? Do you control midi in DAW or synthdef or sample when you called "fim1" "fim2" etc...

Thanks so much! I'm sending midi to a DAW (Ableton). For the drop chords, I'm basically triggering a bunch of saw waves at 3 different octaves to get that full future bass drop sound.

Awesome. Do you prefer tidal to foxdot?

Thanks! Both have their strengths. I like Tidal because you can compile in the middle of a loop and it reacts immediately. Foxdot only shows changes after each loop (less reactive). I like how in Tidal you can generate a sine wave and sample values from it. I did like Foxdot's formant filter since it takes in continuous values (instead of discrete integers like Tidal) so you can automate it and get cool effects. Depending on the song, i find myself going back and forth between Tidal and Foxdot's note representation system (cycle based vs more classic pitch/duration).

Do you live code too? What language do you use?

@@SleepyAstroboi Cool thanks for the info. I actually just started with live code and messed around with Sonic Pi a few days ago but using Tidal now cause I like the functional approach it uses and I can use my vim setup with it. I'll probably stick with Tidal for now and then try some other languages later on, I think Tidal also has integration with visuals which is cool, hope to mess around with that too. Hope you got some more jams planned!

Good luck! I started with Sonic Pi too. I have good memories of it. Thanks! I'm actually thinking about holding another coding concert next Saturday here...
