I made this Flutter App with ChatGPT

Ғылым және технология

Lets test ChatGPT to see if it can build a real app! Follow along with the prompts that I gave ChatGPT and see the score it got for its efforts. There are three categories we're testing, each with its own set of challenges.

    Glad to see you back, and I've been playing around with it too. I feel like we're only a couple years away from not needing to "write" code anymore, and just prompting an AI to do it

    Thank you. I'm happy to be back! Very excited about this year and content. As I was playing around with this I thought the same thing. Since Microsoft has now invested in OpenAI there's the possibility of direct integration with ChatGPT. Which will allow for file manipulations etc. I think that's probably just a year out. Very exciting times!! We'll have to step up our game to stay relevant!

    What came to my mind is thait if you weren't a software developer you wouldn't know what questions to ask, nor how to deal with any of the errors that showed up. I mean, the OpenAI team might find solutions for that but it seems like that is still a barrier, even though things got way easier.

    Yes, without making the video too long that is something that I wanted to add in as well. I agree fully, I can look at the code and see that it's not good or it wont work so I can prompt it for something better. Right now you have to know the language in order to use it, but I'm pretty codex or the likes of will become good enough that even someone like me will start to trust what they deliver. Right now not so much.

    Absolutely right. It would be very cool to have a feedback loop from the IDE/Compiler to ChatGPT to not run into errors anymore.

    @@bowlingguy7755 Can't wait for it to happen. It's basically what Microsoft announced with Github copilot X. I hope we'll be able to allow it to make edits in the code as well instead of just spitting out the code for us to move over.

    This is the first time I've seen this and I only checked into what ChatGPT is this week, so I'm amazed at what I've seen here, and I imagine that it's only going to get better...If Google buys this one and then incorporates it with Google products 😊

    It's pretty awesome. Microsoft bought in to it already so I think the ship has sailed for google. They've integrated it with gihub Codepilot X which will allow it to modify your code directly in VS code. It'll be really awesome to use as a pair programmer I think. very interesting to see these tools develop.

    I think its one way teaching, users wont understandand from it, means dependancy and you cant say "I am CHATGPT user" , in resume for interview , i belive in coders like us

  • @FilledStacks

    @FilledStacks

    I think that's a good way to look at it. The other way to look at it is if you understand and master the AI tools you can most likely instantly be better and faster than any one of your peers that are not using it. The same as Flutter is a tool for us to use, these AI tools will become apart of our daily lives. If this was integrated into VS code directly the video would have been something else completely.

    For sure but basically a developper would just have to understand the ecosystem he is working on and clearly know what he has to implement, he will be able to let chatgpt write most of the code and just add or correct if needed. 1 developper would be able to work as multiple

  • @FilledStacks

    @FilledStacks

    Жыл бұрын

    @SocietyAnalyst I couldn't agree more. The way I see it is similar to how I look at hiring Junior engineers. When the high level decisions are done and the architecture is in place you still need someone to build UI, write basic state logic, write a bunch of utility functions etc. This would be done by ai. As long as you know what the output needs to be you can build so much faster. Like instead of 2 days for a UI it could probably get down to 15 minutes if you master the prompting and give it correct context.

    For a product to grow it has to make money. Now that microsoft has invested into OpenAI they will most likely integrate with ChatGPT directly and put it into products like Visual Studio code. This means the AI will be able to do file manipulation and will have no need for this big prompt -> copy -> paste -> run process.

    I agree completely. For now that's definitely the case. I think when Microsoft integrates this model, with some adjustments, into VS code and it modifies the code directly then I think people with less coding experience can start to build some cool things. But if I had to project the future I'd say we would skip over that part completely and go to no code AI tools. Text in, app out.
