As a historian, if I may fact-check these: (1) While there was a great fear of being buried alive around the 1800s, there is no evidence that it ever actually happened, or that anyone was ever 'saved' by ringing a bell. The coffins did exist, though. Mainly because of said fear. (2) most historians agree that the phrase 'saved by the bell' did not originate from this, but originated in the world of sports.

To your question at 13:05 Way back when everyone was stupid, when someone fell into a coma or was passed out for days, they were presumed dead. Obviously, the families would wait by their side for a few days to make sure but if they didn't wake, they would be buried. Occasionally, people would reuse coffins and when they dug one up, there were scratch marks on the inside. When these scratch marks showed up on a large number of coffins, people began to think "Well huh, maybe we killed a few people by burying them alive..." Bells on a string were attached to the coffins. If the gravekeeper heard the bell, the person would be dug up. (This is where the phrase "saved by the bell" comes from. ) So, yeah people have been buried alive but we can tell a dead person from a living one now lol!

13;10 That actually used to happen wayyy long ago in history. When modern technology didn't exist, and we didn't know if dead was dead, people would commonly get buried alive. This is why something called a "safety coffin" was invented. Strings would be tied to the head, feet, and hands of the person being buried. If they woke up and moved, a bell would ring, signaling that somebody was buried alive and they would be dug up. There were also places where the "dead, but not for sure" would be held. Basically what it was, was a place where people would stay for a while if presumed dead. If they didn't wake up at all, they were presumed dead and sent to burial. If they woke up, they went back home.

At 10:56 the clear tube you are holding is actually for the name of the decedent, birthdate, date of death, and the mother and father's name. It exists because in the event of a flooding and instances like Hurricane Katrina there were unearthed caskets floating down the streets. Batesville and a lot of other casket companies decided to place that feature in so we can make sure that we are able to identify the dead. I work at a funeral home and I just wanted to share that little tidbit with you! Also just so you know, because you ordered the Batesville Black Onyx J37 casket it should come with some paperwork and one is called the living memorial packet. Batesville will plant a tree in your honour, all you have to do is just fill out the mail postcard and send it. Then they will send you a letter in return saying that they planted it! I just think that is super cute :)

that’s actually a casket. that’s the thing they put the dead body in during a funeral. you can tell by the rectangular shape with rounded edges and how the door has hinges and it opens half at a time. a coffin is what they bury the body in. it’s not rectangular it’s more of how you would draw a diamond, but longer and flat at the bottom. and the door is nailed on. there are no hinges so it’s completely off or on. you’re welcome for my knowledge on caskets and coffins

Re: the little vial. On the end of many caskets there is a plastic vial that screws into the body. It makes a water-tight seal. Vital information about the deceased is placed in that vial, such as the name, cemetery location, date of death, etc. These have been very useful in returning the remains to the proper place after some disaster or mix-up has caused a problem. For example, in some of the hurricanes that have hit the southern part of the United States caskets have floated to the surface and away from the burial site. If there is a lot of water on the Earth's surface and the soil is sandy or not compacted, a casket could float out of the grave because it is quite buoyant.

This video made me sad because my best friends dad died recently and his coffin looked like the one she bought before the holo. I still watched the hole video because I love you ❤️

The year is 2074. 86 year old Cristine lies dying in a hospital bed, surrounded by her many cat children and cat grandchildren. She beckons Ben closer to her. It’s time. Ben leans close to her, tears filling his eyes as his girlfriend struggles to get her last words out. “What is it, Cristine?” “It’s not a problem anymore.” She whispers with the last of her breath, before her hand drops and her pulse slows to a stop. I realize this is two years too late, but technically what she bought in the video, is a casket not a coffin. The lid on a coffin detaches while the lid on a casket doesn’t, and caskets are rectangular, coffins are not.

The ultimate purpose of this vial on the end of a casket is to hold a piece of paper on which is written the name and other particular details of the deceased. If the decedent were to ever be exhumed it would be easier to determine the identity rather than actually open the casket and disturb the remains.

6:47 , Cristine, "U know I'm putting a lot of thought into my death. Is that weird?", Relax my family and I have discussions about and plan our funerals more often than most people would find comfortable. A funeral is for the living but if they're going to honour me, why can't I have a say?

All I can imagine is some archologist finding her coffin in distant future and name her as some queen or be hella confused

Isa & Fred USB drives are at best built to hold data for a century, tapes 30 years, hard drives 5. And those are for best quality. But then I'm unsure if she bought a durable body preserving coffin or a fast-rotting ecological coffin.

@@johnfrancisdoe1563 I am sure that there would be something to house it, in addition to the coffin itself. Even if she were buried in a bog somewhere and the organic bits were decomposed beyond recognition, the glitter and the more synthetic materials might still have a chance.

Hey! When I saw the casket for the first time, I had almost started crying. My friend Emily had recently passed away on November 21, 2019 and on the following Tuesday I went to the funeral and it was a open casket, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I started crying immediately. Not only that but a lot of pets and family members had passed away this year, and it started on my birthday. March 1st 2019 (which is my birthday) my great uncle died and then up until July people and pets were dying one in each month except their were two in March. I always click on your channel to watch videos to make me happy, but when I saw this it almost made me cry, but now I know to stay away from these type of videos. - Morgan P.S keep up the great work!

that little glass vial is something called a memory record tube! in there is usually something that has their name, a family member’s contact, etc. in case the casket is found out of the ground somehow, it’s identifiable without having to open it up.

that little vial typically contains info about the person... so in case of a natural disaster or some other morbid incident, the body can be returned to the proper place. it also attaches to the body... not the casket. sorry I had this info and now you all must know

They actually used to accidentally burry alive people and they had to put bells in the coffins with them so if they woke up in one they would ring the bell and someone would be working "the graveyard shift" to dig them out. they were "saved by the bell"

I heard this one scary story about that (they said it was true but who really knows). A man that worked at the graveyard was checking something (I don’t remember what) and he heard one of those bells go off, he was surprised and confused. Instead of helping her, he took away the bell and put dirt in the breathing hole. He said, “I’m sorry, but you’re not alive. Whatever you are.” Apparently, the girl had been dead for 4 weeks (or months, I can’t remember).

“Did he leave me!” “We didn’t Film a Break Up video yet!” 😂
