I Made Jack-O'-Lantern SLEEVES
Ойын-сауық
For my next installment of "I want sleeves large enough to have their own gravitational pull", HERE WE ARE! And of course, for the festive Halloween season, we had to make them little Jack-O-Lanterns!
Also made a little pumpkin bodice because WHY not.
ANYWHO I hope you have fun with this one and I hope it fills you with roasty-toasty cozy feelings.
I love you all!!!

Look up "sleeve headers". Basically a short ruffle of tulle, stiff interfacing or quilted fabric, which you sew into the top of your sleeve so it stays lifted at the top instead of sagging. I think it would help you when making big puff sleeves like this.❤️

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm enjoying this ''Sleeves but make it whimsical'' series
Airbrush tip from someone who has only used them in a custom automotive refinishing class: keep it horizontal. That unfortunately means hanging the cloth upright. Also, take it completely apart in between uses and run paint thinner through it and clean all the parts. You're amazing at airbrushing, just holding it so it's hard for it to stay together :) I love how this turned out!

For future reference: You can make the top of the sleeve stand up more by sewing two or three layers of tulle down the middle after having gathered it down the middle to make ruffles. Sew them to the top of the outside of the inner sleeve. Makes it "perky"! For you Future Self! That top is Super Stinkin' Cute! I'd make it for myself but my chest is much too large for that. Omg, so I'm an American married to a Brit and living in England, I've been here for six years and it was LITERALLY JUST THIS YEAR that I said "gotten" once and my husband just chuckled and went "that's so American" and I was like "????????????" so yes I just learned the got/gotten thing too and now I'm so self-conscious about it. But sometimes sentences just sound wrong with 'got'!!! Anyway thank you for coming with me on this journey.

Really cute blouse! You could probably puff out the sleeves by stuffing them with tulle or crinoline mesh, and could string fairy lights through the mesh to make it more evenly lighted. But your creativity is so much fun!

These are really cute, and I love the idea! Maybe to really capture the jackolantern vibe, make the outside layer out of lightweight solid orange, then interline with an opaque fabric (maybe orange or black?) with cutouts made of the same COLOUR fabric, but more sheer. That way the sleeves would look solid in normal light, but in low light with the LEDs on, the face cutouts would glow!
Rachel and her love for crunchy leafy season is the only reason I get excited for crunchy leafy season
The most Rachel video of them all - everything was on point. And I am obsessed with your black and white stripey top. PS - Had to laugh at the girl from Massachusetts wondering where her "R's" went.
Love this whole whimsical/outrageous sleeves series, please keep interspersing them in cos they are so much fun and it's great to see you have so much fun with them! I saw someone comment on sleeve headers already so I wont cover their points again. I would suggest getting another set of the led lights putting 4 of the strips into each sleeve in a tight block, but putting the pocket slightly below the mouth. AND if possible, creating a foam wedge to glue the strips onto so that they aim upwards instead of straight out (think of how the candle in a jack o lantern projects up and around). I'd also make the pocket out of a tulle (yellow-ish hue if you have it) so that maximum light gets through. Those are my two cents anyway, you are the creator so by all means leave them where they lie. :-) If you did find the time to tidy these up I'd LOOVE to see a quick follow-up, maybe as part of next Hallowe'en's craftathon (cos I know you're scheduled out for this year already). I continue to love your channel and even though I dont comment much your creative and problem-solving brain is very, very much appreciated in this house. Happy Spooky Season!!

I've followed you for a few years now, but recently started re-watching your older videos again. Let me tell you the soothing this gives my heart is everything the world needs. Wholesome, pure, whimsy that after a rough year is just perfect for the soul.
I might have tried stuffing the sleeves with netting to keep them puffed out....but they are pretty stinkin' cute!
This is the cutest! You could make snowman sleeves for winter or something like that so you have a pair of giant sleeves for every season
I love the spooky dark lighting of this video 😍 can we appreciate how much effort this looked like to make omg
Fun sewing tips for anyone trying this moving forward: If you gather layers of tulle at the sleeve cap it would support the sleeve for maximum floof. It is used a lot in theatre to eliminate the need for sleeve supports in 1830s/1890s garments. If you'd like the light to only come from the face holes. You can get a plastic material called, "black out fabric" that can be bought at Joanns in the drapery section. Flatline it to the puff sleeve that way the light only spills out from the face holes.
Your brain is the most magical place on Earth. How do you come up with such enchanting madcap ideas? The sleeves give me major Halloweentown vibes. I adore them, especially when they’re all lit up! 🎃

I honestly love your videos and your creations, but I would say my favorite thing about your chanel is how honest it is about the process and the try-fail-try again. The final recap about the things you wish were better or different is so important. Because one thing is to make a piece you've made a million times before, another entirely different is making something for the first time, which is bound to have unexpected results. Sewing is so much about experiment. And if one has been following you for a while, it's a joy to just witness, honestly.
