I think the mixing effect is caused by the water trying to connect to other water blocks, but because the water is made of different blocks it causes it to create a layer for every different block, and it creates the wierd effect

My love for this concept is immeasurable

As someone who used to do stuff like this in minecraft, I am pretty sure what is happening is he retextured the water to be invisible, then whenever you place a block he shoots a raycast from the player to get the block you just placed and replace it with water. The final step is to model the blocks, and have them rotate to follow the water (although I am not sure how you did this) Interesting concept, but highly impractical. It would be amazing to have this working normally, however due to the execution of this it would cause extremely high lag when combined with large bodies of water (you can visibly see the game update the blocks slower during the river test at the end).

A pool with all Minecraft blocks would probably look interesting.

Immagine doing this,but the blocks become solid afterward.you could make some really smooth and natural-looking hills this way
