    It does speed up slowly and then at number 76 it slows down in one big jump.

    The game actually speeds up as your blocks get smaller, so what ever speed you set it to it will eventually find the right size piece that it will start making perfect hits on. I think the problem you had was that the machine just wasn't reliable enough.

    That’s assuming the game blocks slowly get smaller in small enough increments that eventually it would find the right speed. In reality, you won’t be able to find that point because the blocks will immediately get much smaller with a different speed. But yes, for most speeds between the upper and lower limit, there is a block that will work, it just likely won’t find it on its own.

    You need a feedback loop. So you add two colour sensors that scan the screen and give an way more faster push impulse with a timing offset.

    I attempted something similar as a tween back in the 80s, making a Lego button pusher to use on a Tempest coin-op game in a neighborhood shop. It didn't work so well, but I didn't put it through a lot of testing and adjustment TBH. Thanks for dredging up that fun memory for me!

    A similar machine is available on Chinese e-commerce platform several years ago.With this machine, some netizens get paid by the fans for boosting the view rates for certain Chinese pop stars. Especially for their MV or TV programmes. They even set a timer to have the periodical clicks. Or can flip the pages of 3 mobiles to increase the hit rate at the same time.     Lego ev3 and nxt are notorious for not having reliable voltage output to the motors, in lego robotics all teams are told to use rotation rather than time for programming

    I once done this on the same game with an Arduino and a model car servo. With a servo you can always start at the same position and programm a time in milliseconds rather than set the speed of motor

    That Scratch system must have a "run motor at deg/s" block, not a simple "run at %". Using that would prevent dead batteries problem and remove the need for gears.

    you could make a huge gear ratio thing to speed it up for the ultimate auto clicker for Cookie Clicker. it may accidentally mess up the screen a bit with the rapid tapping but there has to be sacrifices for greatness

    I've often considered doing this for grindy, repetitive tasks in phone games... But always teach the conclusion it would be MORE effort to make the machine than just grind out the task.

    Pretty sure the motor speed options just set PWM and are consequently subject to battery voltage changes.

    Depends on your program, you can actually regulate the speed by looping the motor control to the coder weel inside
