Here's some advice for Glowing stuff. I saw a video where the guy made a completely transparent mold of an entire figure (Godzilla) and painted over it, but had it glow from the inside. It made it look like it was internally glowing, which fits godzilla so much.

Im just curious as to why you did not just paint the body while the fins/spines are detached instead of applying a layer of protection on them that you mentioned was quite tedious.
