I made a GIANT pumpkin costume and it was a struggle

I’m going to show you how I made a giant pumpkin halloween decoration that can also be worn as a fun costume.
You’ll see how I transformed some yoga mats, fabric scraps, and paint into a realistic-looking pumpkin that is big enough to fit me inside.
This project was inspired by my love for halloween and pumpkins, and also by the movie Cinderella, where the fairy godmother turns a pumpkin into a carriage. I thought it would be fun to do the opposite and turn myself into a pumpkin.

I know it was probably frustrating to see it not go as planned. But I genuinely think that all the "flaws" and "mistakes" just make it better! It has a Nightmare Before Christmas aesthetic, and it's soooo fitting! Much love and thank you for putting a smile on our face! 😊❤

Thank you on so many levels for showing that this is also part of costume making. I am a professional costume and propmaker for shows and theatre and people usually see my work in the shining, glittering show light, well staged or nicely shot. They don’t see us makers sitting on the floor in a shabby, ill ventilated basement, covered in hot glue, latex and duct tape, with scratches on the hands and marks on the face from the respirator mask, after the tenth energy drink and some leftover junk food, ugly sobbing and crying and questioning our life choices while the deadline is laughing in our face and you just feel more stupid every second because you’re usually good at this. I love your channel so much! You are an awesome maker and I am grateful, that you share it with us.

You are a mad crafting genius, and to me this video just proves it. The pumpkin looks so cool and creepy! Even with a lot of setbacks, you pulled something "cursed" into a really cool finished project. The details are just fantastic. I really appreciate when creators show what goes wrong and how they problem solve it. I'm sorry this was so stressful for you, but it does look really cool.

As frustrating as it is when things don't go as planned, I think it's awesome that you posted this to show all the frustration and setbacks. It's easy a a creator to watch all the successes on social media and think you're the only one who fails. Thanks for being real!

It was NOT an unmitigated disaster! You mitigated it fiercely! SUCH a journey to completion. One always thinks, "I can fix it by doing *this*" Then *this* doesn't work and you still think its fixable... I liked the pumpkin blouse with it; it ended up looking pretty cool!

I absolutely concede that this is a "nightmare project" for a perfectionist. The setbacks and glitches were daunting and your feelings are valid. As a person who creates on a smaller scale and more infrequently, watching your struggles, and learning from your mistakes is immensely helpful. I am impressed with the state of "artistic wholeness" that you wrastled the stubborn pumpkin into!🎃 I agree with others that the rough irregularities added to the spooky holiday vibes. Honestly, from the outside, and, subjectively, I believe it looks like a success. I hope your next project is more satisfying for you. (I am sure that your viewers and patrons will live it either way!)

I doubt you get trick-or-treaters at your house, but this would be such a great Halloween prank. Just sit outside, looking like a giant pumpkin decoration until some kids turn up. Then you can pop up and scare the crap out of them.

I think sewing with fishing line would have been my go to for a shape like this. It might be less prone to snapping than thread, but I am sure floss or small cord could work too, especially if you sew out the side of the edge to keep the stitches off the front face.
