The header primary length is tuned with the expansion pipe dimensions. This would perform a lot better if it was juat a stinger pipe extention to the rear.

I wanna put the exaust beck do my bodyshell on rc car, so, dosent matter the size of the pipe after the exaust? I have one kyosho drx with brand new body form my collection, i dont use the car to not mass with the paint etc..

The expansion chamber needs to be closer to the exhaust port it'll make a world of difference with the throttle response. It looks cool though.

It actually ran pretty good in that configuration, but I did re do the exhaust and the second version is how it should be and it does run a bit better now. I put another quick short up

Thats what is on the end...and normally what they run. Two strokes dont run well without an expansion chamber.

@@Tboninatorwhat I meant was that it would look like a 2 stroke dirtbike pipe, starts near the exhaust port, gets real Big, and then has a small silencer at the end. The bigger rc car engine have em. But one day I really want to put a dirtbike engine into one.

@@NOTTApro142that’s how most are built puts the powerband up really high like a dirt bike. 20-30 thousand rpm’s isn’t uncommon. This pipe should kill top end power unfortunately.

That’s stunning!!! Adds some realism to the model with the shell on… the Big 6 has a rear exit that goes through the shell and I’ve always like that….

Long pipe like that will probably limit the powerband to the low end of the rpm range. The pipe length is tuned to a specific length so the resulting exhaust pressure pulses resonate at a specific rpm range to optimize scavenging in 2-stroke engines. This will make the engine more efficient and more powerful. Huge gains can be has from properly tuned exhaust.

Looks good and great work, but from a physics standpoint, the length of the exhaust before the expansion chamber will render it useless. If you put the expansion chamber near the engine and ran a long tube after it, that would fix the problem.

The expansion chamber isn't doing anything back there, it would make waaaaaaay better power with the expansion chamber back where it was and the extension behind it. Then you could make a little resonator that would actually change the sound if that's your goal. Running it this way is gonna make it hard to find a good tune.

Had that fitment originally but wasn't ideal for firment and surprisingly it runs almost as good as it did with just the tuned pipe on the motor. Its just a pavement basher

Traxxas easy Start style

Good thing he redid that exhaust, oil will build up in the pipe and choke out the motor, nitro engines spit alot of oil out the exhaust it needs to be able to drain

You have to understand what the expansion chamber does for a 2 stroke engine. There is a maximum distance that the first chamber cone has to be from the exhaust port… in other words you completely ruined your power band and even changed your full throttle fuel ratio. This looks sick and the work is nice but you actually took away a lot of power from that engine. Not hating but thought you should know.

Looks awesome from a craftsmanship standpoint, and overall aesthetics. Well done. However from a standpoint of having a good running engine it looks super restrictive, I would think you’re probably losing a lot of power… is there a reason you can’t use a shorter one?

It's got an electric remote starter and that sits above the exhaust manifold so I can't flip it with that on. Otherwise yea that would have probably worked to shorten the exhaust 👌

Oh 100% but it's just a old VX18 so not too fussed. Wouldn't do this to my savage haha. Performance wise it needs a light tune up but still has a decent power band
