After listening to Sha’Carri’s interview, after everything came out, I think the most shocking part for her was how she found out about her mother’s death. She mentioned she found out during an interview by the ‘interviewer’. Just a sad situation all the way around - she wasn’t even in an environment where she could respond naturally; she had no emotional support at the time and had to keep up the facade. Like many have said, she has responded in a very mature way, accepting accountability and not putting blame on anyone beside herself. I respect that.

Why question Tabitha Brown's response? That was sincere, Southern, Tabitha. She's just a "take the high road and be positive" kind of person. Chance Brown has his own non-profit, unlike Wendy's ex (and Mo'Nique's husband) who had a "job" being a "manager" of only 1 person. He held her down as she pursued her dream, and now she can hold him, down as he runs his non-profit. Too bad so many folks don't realize that a marriage is a partnership with give & take and mutual support. I love the way Tabitha responded to side-eye with love.

What makes me the most mad about the Olympics is not only that Sha'Carri can't run, it's the PILE of last minute disqualifications that seem to largely affect Black women this time around. Adam Vander Tuig writes about them like this: “'For as long as most of us can remember, the professional-managerial class (PMC) has been fighting a class war, not against capitalists or capitalism, but against the working classes,' writes Professor Catherine Liu in her delicious new broadside, Virtue Hoarders: The Case Against the Professional Managerial Class. First identified and described by Barbara and John Ehrenreich in 1977 as a class of 'salaried mental workers' who reproduce the essentials of capitalism without owning the means of production, the PMC, argues Liu, has for decades 'been happy to abandon mass politics to reproduce the social division of labor and the widening gulf between those who prosper under late capitalism and those who do not.'" So they're basically the upper middle class "mental laborers" (who are predominantly white, though not exclusively so): middle management, lawyers, finance, etc. Here's that article: www.currentaffairs.org/2021/05/the-smarmy-sacrilege-of-corporate-divinity-consultants

I don't know Tabitha. I don't know anything about her but I think Wendy is being a hypocrite because she still talks to Kevin. Their son is no longer a minor so she doesn't have to talk to him but she chooses to. There were photos of them having lunch together after her mother passed away. So she can't be that mad at him. I agree with some of your points, but I take issue with policing how people grieve. I don't even smoke, but if someone's going through it, I don't judge them for having a drink, having a smoke, whatever. It's not the most "socially acceptable" answer because of the stigma with "self-medicating," but it's reality, and doing so doesn't make someone automatically an addict or out of control. She'Carri knew the rules and took responsibility for her choice (and if she was with friends/family when she ingested the weed, they ain't sh** for not trying to stop her -- although perhaps they _did_ try, but her mind was made up), so that's the that on that.

I was actually excited to watch the Olympics this year because of Sha’Carri and other black athletes and I can understand both sides of the argument, but I think what’s missing is the need for actual accountability and consistency. Sports and the olympics has had scandals of (white) athletes using PED before and after their competition and they’re just given a pass or leeway without tarnishing them or their career as if it’s the norm. Needless to say I’m 99% sure I won’t be watching the olympics because it’s notoriously racist, classist, and nationalistic. The fact that they’re banning black swimming caps meant for black hair is racist enough for me.
