    Well had stainless steer box with wing nuts mounted about exhaust one could put food in and cook it on the move. On side of roof rack we had 2 soil stack pipes on each side with water and tap and shower on it. We in back we had more soil stack pipes together with pump and top filler screw on which long range fuel tanks

    Sam, you might want to go back and replace those stainless steel bolts. Stainless steel and aluminium touching eachother is not a good idea, this may cause galvanic corrosion. Better use galvanised fasteners as zinc and aluminium are closer to eachother in the galvanic series.

    Hi Sam, great vid looking forward to the whole series, maybe you'll become Ireland's specialist L322 conversation expert. The towbar space is perfect for aux battery, my auto spark installed a motorsport battery in there, fully sealed so no need to vent fumes, no need for switch charging as it's far enough away from starter motor, the fat + running to boot fusebox is enough without running new cables. It's an Odyssey Extreme, I think 20ah, can't read side as it's bolted in. Pricey but worth it, mine's in two years and never had problem, always feel confident daily pre heater use won't kill main batt

    Did you make a choice on the roof tent yet? I have exactly the same l323 and front runner rack. I was hoping the Alu cab gen r3 but seems it would overhang too much on the front due to the tail gate needing to open. I am aiming for a tent that I can put solar panels on top of for my home made solar generator. So I’m super keen to see what tent you ended up going with :)

    Hey Sam. if you want to charge the second battery, you will have to run a cable from the start battery, through the firewall and by pass the canbus system. Tapping into the 12v power supply on the rear fuse board won’t trigger the charge for the second battery. Tried it, won;t work. Mark

  • @SamsMotors

    @SamsMotors

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the tip Mark! Though I’m a bit confused as the big 25mm2 cable that goes into the rear junction box comes direct from the main battery via a 250 amp fuse. I can’t see how it would be any different running a separate cable? I can understand that the 2nd battery voltage might not trigger the smart alternator to charge though, as it will be reading the main battery voltage. 🤔

  • @SamsMotors

    It’s not silent but with the wind deflectors fitted correctly on the front, it’s not very noticeable. Without the deflectors, or with the fitted incorrectly, it can absolutely howl and vibrate like crazy. When I first fitted it, I thought my roof was going to fly off because of the noise and vibration it made. But after adjusting it all a few times, it’s very quiet now.

    @@SamsMotors I expected such an answer 😊 The reason I asked is because I moved to Canada Edmonton. It's very cold here and temperatures are going down to - 40 or 50. This was one of the warmest winters with - 30 for long weeks. RR can cause lots of problems with air suspension, but how badly in such poor weather conditions I don't know. There is no chance to keep a car all the time in heated garage. This is why I thought maybe there is a chance to get rid of them :)

  • @SamsMotors

    @SamsMotors

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MrLeonardodv It should work fine in those temperatures, but it will definitely need to be in good shape to avoid any problems. Compressor: will need to be performing like new, if it's worn it will definitely struggle. Air springs: would renew as a matter of course - rubber will be inflexible at that temperature so I would replace any aged bags with new genuine or Bilstein items etc. Dryer: The dryer will need to be in good order as you want to avoid moisture in the system which will freeze at those temperatures and cause problems with valves etc. The dryer can be replaced (VUB504700) or refurbished with new desiccant and seal etc.
