I'm a lesbian woman who dresses super masculine. So much so, that people will refer to me using male pronouns. I've run into people who ask me if I'm trans and who will say things like "are you sure you're not trans?" Yes! I am not dysphoric! I am comfortable being a "manly" woman. This doesnt mean I have another gender identity. Being a masculine woman is ok. Being a feminine man is ok. Those two things do not necessarily constitute a new gender identity.

THIS. I've been diagnosed actually, it's not exactly being sad all the time, it's mostly feeling alone and unfulfilled without necessarily meaning that you are alone. Like for me at least I am surrounded by some wonderful people in my life but once I get home my motivation to do even the most simple tasks is lost like I'm making a huge effort to even get myself to study for thirty minutes, I oftentimes don't take care of my body when I don't have to go outdoors and people always tell me to text them but I don't even want to go on my Instagram feed for two minutes. So basically I'm always at home feeling like doing nothing although knowing that I have to keep up with everything for my own well being. Also my sleep schedule is terrible because I experience sleep paralysis multiple times a night.

Technically that could be accurate if the meat is free. If either nobody bought it and it was donated by a grocery to a food bank, or for example, a co-worker bought it, didn't like it and offered it to others before throwing it away. Vegan is more about what you purchase and support than what you put in your mouth, and goes beyond just food. Then there's a "plant based diet," which is all about the food and what you eat. The two often overlap since most vegans are plant based, but they're not the same thing. Especially considering that many plant based eaters are not vegan. Actually I just now remembered a documentary on a group of dumpster divers in NY and a few of them were vegan but will eat whatever they find. A better example would be, "I'm vegan, but I purchase meat."

@@alyssaa1328 If someone doesn't contribute to animal suffering but has limited options (or even doesn't) and gets their food from a food bank or a dumpster, then I'm not going to turn them away and tell them they can't label themselves what they want or follow a certain philosophy, especially when they work so hard to follow that philosophy and avoid contributing to animal suffering. Which is what veganism was to me. A philosophy and a practice of that philosophy, not a diet. A plant based diet is just a result of veganism. I also don't consider any being to be food, from a moral stance. But biologically speaking flesh does act as food and has done so for humans for a very long time. Since near the beginning of human evolution humans began eating flesh and started producing a special stomach acid to digest it and absorb the nutrients. So yes, flesh as food is an option for us since humans are omnivores. Biology and facts doesn't care about anyone's morals, and not everyone has the luxury of turning away free food. My definition of veganism was developed many years ago before it became popular and the crazies took over the vegan internet space. Not that I'm complaining that it's popular now. The pros far outweigh the cons and this is what we always wanted. But in the past veganism was, first and foremost, about the animals and what we can do to end their suffering, or at least not contribute to it ourselves. When it did come to the people it was a more pleasant and open minded community. We didn't shame someone because their practice or interpretation of the philosophy didn't look exactly like ours. Now it seems to be more about the people rather than the animals, including gatekeeping and drama surrounding around who's vegan and who's not. Not my cup of tea and is partly why I distanced myself from the label. I just hope the concept is able to forge ahead despite the nonsense drama.

Another reason that transitioning is a big deal is that Disphoria isn't just a symptom of being transexual, it can be a symptom of many mental, physical, and psychological disorders. People need to be evaluated for things like dysmorphia first , eating disorders, untapped trauma, DID, BPD, and many other things that can cause gender or body dysphoria. This is why establishing that Gender dysphoria is a necessary symptom for being trans, people are either making mistakes they know they might regret, or they have that one disorder where they want to believe they have mental and physical disorders for attention or validity of self and it's sad and scary.

Enjoying something traditionally seen as fem or masc occasionally is not genderfluid. As someone who does Identify with genderfluidity but not necessarily considering myself trans, I'll try to explain it as clearly as I can. So, I have days where I am comfortable in my birth gender and I am ok with being called by my birth name and the associated pronouns. But there are some days where I can hardly look at myself in the mirror when changing because I can't stand to see the parts of myself that are associated with my birth gender. Some days it makes me incredibly uncomfortable to hear people use feminine pronouns and terms in reference to me, because on that day, I might be more masculine leaning. Some days I wish I had a packer and a binder, while others I am very much comfortable and happy with my body. Basically, my dysphoria and internal thoughts on my gender often shift, usually gradually, sometimes suddenly. I hope this explanation was clear enough.

I remember in a time before marriage equality, making complaints about the LGBT community ignoring anything that had to do with trans people and was preaching the T should be dropped from the acronym. Mostly on the grounds that orientation and gender are two totally different concepts. However, once same sex couples were able to get married, all of a sudden trans people mattered, like the LGBT conglomerate needed a reason to continue existing. Though it's funny how TERFs started preaching the same thing a decade later but for a bigoted reason.

kenny He/Him lesbians who go by that for safety reasons are valid and understandable. What is not valid nor understandable is lesbians exclusively going by he/him pronouns. Saying that pronouns do not equal gender (e.g. I’m a female but I only go by he/him) is an open alleyway for people to misconstrue the importance of pronouns. Recently, TERFs have been saying pronouns don’t equal gender therefore misgendering a transperson is okay. That is what saying “I use he/him but I’m a women” is causing. It is allowing more transphobia to arise whether intentionally or not. Pronouns were made for the reason to identify someone as a male, female, or otherwise. He/him pronouns are male pronouns for men, not masculine identifying woman/GNC women. She/her pronouns are female pronouns for females, not feminine identifying men/GNC men.

I know I’m late but I completely agree with Blaire. Why does “Trans” have to be this umbrella term for anyone who isn’t cis? Why can’t “Gender” be the umbrella term if people really need one. Everyone has a different path in life and a different journey. The journeys of a transgender person and someone who is gender fluid, where they may be similar in some respects, are not the same. We experience different things, we live different lives. The word transgender literally comes from the Latin prefix “Trans” meaning “to change from” or “to change to”. That’s why we have cisgender from the Latin prefix “Cis” meaning “the same as”

As I grew older, the dysphoria started to resolve and now at 30, I can remember what it felt like but I don't have those feelings anymore. Wish I knew what it was that 'fixed' it but I think for a lot of people it resolves itself. Scares me how many kids are going on puberty blockers and never have the chance to organically decide after growing into their body if transitioning is something they really want. I had dysphoria all the way up through my mid 20s but it was manageable starting around age 18. I don't know the answer to this 'debate' other than case by case and that it's really not my place to decide for anyone else or their kids. Shrug.

Transgenderism *IS* perpetuating stereotypes. I'm not saying that gender dysphoria isn't real -- it is. But pretty much any form of transitioning involves stereotypes, which is why trans women often appear more feminine than actual women. Some trans people rise above it, but for a lot of others, especially those that *don't* even experience GD, being female basically amounts to "I like high heels and pink lace", which is stereotypically associated with femininity.

Exactly, why have all these gender identities for literally just forms of expression. I mean, that's like saying if you dress up in a Halloween costume on Halloween you could identify as creepyfluid or something... I have no problem with guys and girls who like to crossdress, but if you have no disphoria, you can't call yourself trans--eccentric maybe, as having gender variant STYLE but never trans; because then you invalidate transexuals who are actually aiming to be stealth at some point, and just want to live their lives with out having to explain their gender and receive unwanted attention.

I watched the whole video of Vera. She doesn’t just say „Im trans and don‘t have dysphoria“, she says, while she may not be transitioning into something that is fixed, she has TRANSITIONED out of the life of a cis-gender male, is on testosterone blockers, has developed a bust etc. and thats why she puts herself under the umbrella-term „trans“. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with her definition of trans (= transitioning in broader sense) and there is a discussion to be had, but not even mentioning her main points seems like Blaire is putting her out of context.
