Yeah, imagine an alternated ending where the rich man (Frank) came in, but he also brought two people who Carol recognized. Both the homeless woman (Susan) that Carol wanna give clothes to, and the girl (Clara) that she gave her dad's red velvet cake to. That one his way home, he pass them both both, and as if they're okay. When they said no, he offered to help them. And that Susan recognized Carol's mom and knows she's an awful person. After Frank asked his security to kick out both of Carol's parents, Carol's life would soon get better. We would see both Susan and Clara with a makeover and that Susan offered to watch both Carol and Clara while he was on his business trips. After a few months, Frank proposed to Susan, and she said yes. And they got married. As for Carol's parents, they got arrested eventually, but that doesn't matter because now she has a new loving family.
