I'm THROWING AWAY my Instant Pot with ULTIMATE LID

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Which is better, the Ninja Foodi Smart XL pressure cooker steam fryer OR the Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Ultimate lid? We'll put them to the test in this head to head battle.
I wanted to focus on the steam function on both of these units and this recipe for steamed cabbage and broiled sausages was the perfect way.
When using the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer, steaming takes place during the PREHEAT function. This takes advantage of the preheating time of approximately 15 minutes to gently steam food while the unit heats up. Once the steaming (really preheating) is done the Crisp portion of the process automatically begins.
In the Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Ultimate Lid, steaming is a pressure cooking function which is much harsher on food. If you want crisp food, after the steaming (really pressure cooking) is done you must remove the inner pressure cooker cover to reveal the heating element on tip of the unit.
Ninja OL701 Foodi 14-in-1 SMART XL 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer comes with a cookbook so you can get cooking right away.
Unfortunately, the 13-in-1 Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Ultimate lid does not supply any cookbook, so you must figure out how to cook with this on your own.
Instant Brands, the makers of Instant Pots and related products has an app but it doesn't allow you to search very well for the specific product you are using.
While the Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Ultimate lid works well I cannot recommend purchasing something that doesn't bother to give much guidance to the customer on how to use it.

Thank you for the video, it is exactly what we need, as we are trying to decide which one to keep. We clearly overlooked the fact that the instant pot doesn't have the "combi" mode. I was going to say the cooking result is a bit unfair for the instant, as the pressure cook mode will obvious leave liquids in the pot. However, thinking about it again, the lacking of recipe is the root cause, so it is a fair point.

I fell in LOVE with the original Ninja Foodi multi cooker from years ago. Was so excited to upgrade to the Smart Lid model, but unfortunately could not handle to loud and constant BEEPING. :( I switched to the Nuwave Duet multi cooker and am happy with it. But boy, I really do miss the Ninja! Great video!

When comparing the two the first thing that stood out is Instant pt has a stainless steel pot vs Ninja nonstick coated pot. I prefer not to invest nonstick coatings after they start to break down.

My dear Sweet Savant, I’ve tested the foodi and the instat pot pro crisp and I prefer the instant pro crisp. It’s much more quiet, it’s more intuitive, it has a preheating function also for the Air fryer for Perfect results, from my breakfast Croissants to my Chips, I will send my foody back.

The instant pot would not require that much liquid because of the cabbage is gonna be full of water, So is the carrots, and onion, so you could make it with the exact proportions that you do for the ninja foodie. It’s always because of the moisture content that will be varied

Thanks for your review. I would like to add that with the Instant pot yuo can NOT buy replacement parts like gaskets and float for the pressure cooker. Mine did not even come with the gasket. 40 minutes on hold, they disconnected me and said I timed out. Seriously, you are more than correct about you choice. You are also correct about the lack of information on how to use the instant pot. I never have used a pressure cooker, spent hours using and then found out it did not have the gasket for the float which according to what was writen could have blown up my kitchen.

I’ve had instant pot stuff, and when they first came out, they were the only kid on the block and we love them but Ninja has taken what they did right, and added to it, and made up intuitive much more realistic appliance for the rest of us, so I gave my instant pot away to my sister who likes a pressure cooker who doesn’t necessarily have the time to devote to how to use the ninja like you know we all have because she still working so I can always buy her a Ninja Foodie if she wants one but she hasn’t wanted one

Hi! Actually, I've owned several of the models and have demonstrated them on this channel. This is quite different. Even if this were a similar product, not every user or new purchaser would have that experience to know how earlier models worked. These appliances cost too much money to leave consumers to figure things out for themselves. The company needs to do better. Thanks for watching.

Probably it’s because any pressure cook recipe that you have or air fry recipe you have already will work perfectly and they’ve been selling pressure cookers forever and most of us have cut books already and the times will be accurate plus or minus a little just like always because of quantity and temperature of the liquid

  • @sweetsavant

    @sweetsavant

I totally get what you're saying. However this isn't just a pressure cooker. It has a proof setting that is unlike its other products but they don't give you any recipe to use it. This is where the issue comes in. If you're going to sell a product with multiple different settings it's a good idea to give people recipes and clear instructions on how to use it. Thanks for watching

Remember an air fryer is just an oven. You don’t need to pressure cook or steam sausages. They have enough fat inside them that they won’t dry out on the standard air fry mode that’s not too high. Same again for cabbage 🤦‍♂️ which would create it’s own steam in that thing so as not to burn but still reduce down. A good test would have been roast chicken on a steam fry combo mode or steam/pressure cook followed by air fry on instapot. Sausages are also tender enough not to pressure cook them. Pressure cooking is for tough cheap meats that require tenderising.

I prefer the cabbage softer... you might try low instead of high pressure to keep them from splitting open rather than lowering the time? ... and less liquid. Unless you want it for stock broth. I like the Ninja the way it browned was a lot better. Didn't they tell you to go to the website to get recipes and manual with Instant? That's what they did when I bought one. Honestly I think it was over done and had too much water in the Instant pot.
