Okay let me address the Limit Breaks situation, because apparently some people are losing their minds about that in the comments 😂 SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE VIDEO YET! Here's what happened: the whole game long, I've always tried to wait and use my limit breaks during a stagger for maximum damage. Only sometimes would I try a bit earlier because a boss got my number and made me sweat (haha) What happened with Sephiroth, is that I used both Cloud's and Barret's limits, but they were unfortunately BOTH cancelled by Sephiroth, and got them both at 1HP. Of course, being alone with Tifa at the end of the fight, I did NOT want to risk yet ANOTHER cancel, have her at 1HP, and then lose the fight. I decided to play it safe and bide my time with ATBs to revive a partty member, and finish the fight the normal way. That's it. It's really not that deep. Reminder: still beat Sephiroth first try. So I don't really get the uproar I've seen about my limits from some people... Second reminder: remember to stay respectful. Curse me and you're banned 😊 ________ Thank you so much for this awesome journey everyone! I had the best time with Remake and I'm SO excited for Rebirth. I will be talking about more theories I have at the beginning of Rebirth episode 1, and I'll put timestamps for those who want to skip that! That's a HUUUGE compliment and I can't express how grateful I am. For what it's worth, I've seen other gamers engage in a Limit Break or some other attack that requires charging and the boss manages to cancel it somehow and they end up at 1 HP from the counter attack. So, I'm not about to compare your tactics with them. But, at least you got him first try. So, kudos for that.

Who needs Shiva/Ifrit to help fight a dude threatening the entire reality/planet when you can unleash an angry chocobo at him?

​​@@WhimsyPsyche The whispers of faith didn't exist in the original, nor was the final boss fight with the arbiter of faith. They basically exist to preserve the original storyline which makes Remake less of a "remake" and more of a sequel to the original. I also suggest watching the ending of FF7 crisis core to understand the significance of Zack's scene, JUST the ending, actually playing FF7 crisis core will spoil you on Rebirth.

While most people playing these games will have already experienced the OG game and other content (crisis core e.g.) I am very appreciative of you keeping to a no spoilers reaction and I think it's also a very valid way to experience the series! Specifically, I'd like to rebut some of the suggestions I've seen below recommending you to play the OG game or crisis core before rebirth (or even before part 3).

I've never even seen Barrett join that last fight. Didn't know it could happen. lmao

Wow this was the perfect playthrough for me to watch. It's kind of sad cause it's probably the last FF7 Remake playthrough I'll be watching since Rebirth is dropping in a few days.. although I've probably watched waaaay too many since 2020 LOL. Having played the original, I prefer this over a 1to1 remake where i know what's going to happen. It's so much more exciting for both OG fans and newcomers like yourself cause we get to experience this ride together.

Congrats for finishing the game and thank you so much for another fantastic playthrough! I enjoyed it thoroughly! To be honest, even though I've played the original FF7, this Remake leaves me so confused about several things, that I have no idea where they're going with it. It feels like they've changed some of the key story elements, at least for now. You make some interesting guesses, interpretations, predictions, sometimes quite on point, at least as far as the original is concerned, but I really wonder how valid knowledge from the original game (and all the additional FF7 games that expand on the story) is. I guess we'll see what happens after you start uploading the episodes for the next part. In the meantime I'm gonna enjoy watching your playthrough of the DLC! Regarding Sephiroth, you'll see why he's so ridiculously powerful, hopefully in the next part! I also hope that one day after you finish with the main FF7 game, you could play (or watch a compilation) of the other FF7 games like Crisis Core (lots of great story details and cutscenes in that one) and also the 3D movie FF7 Advent Children. Got to avoid them at all cost right now though, as they spoil too much and are only meant for people who know the whole FF7 story.

Got to give some leeway for a non final fantasy players. Bars and limits would be flashing away, and many new players just keep hitting one button. I thought they would get burn in from it ... But now that they are a FF fan, it will not take many FF games before they get the hang.

Hi Whimsy! I really enjoy seeing your playthrough, first I need to say I'm not a english user so please bear with my google translation :P Here's some explain about the story I want to tell you, don't read this if you want to figure it out yourself. . . . . . Zack is a character in Crisis Core FF7, which is the prequel of FF7 (you really should try that too if you love FF7), He was Aerith's boyfriend, he die at the scene that he surrounded by bunch of Sinra trooper, he did't survived that and Cloud was right there when he die, Zack gave him the sword and told him to live, for him, Cloud get memory confusion at that point, he was never a 1st. (if you want to see this cutscene you can find it on youtube) Aerith also feels his death, and look up to the sky, that's why she do the same at the end of FF7R. So what you've seen in this game is probably a different timeline. I think Aerith and Sephiroth in this game are also from the other timeline, which explain why they know so much they shouldn't have know. Zack also showed up at the end of FF7R Intergrade (DLC), he came back for Aerith but Aerith is not there, I guess Zack is somehow get into our timeline too. What Whispers do is to keep things run as the original game did, but now we defeated them so no one knows what gonna happen next, can't wait to play Rebirth :P

For the M.O.T.O.R. boss you should've used spinning slash more often instead of the long range attack. Spinning slash takes out all three wheels at once, it's super useful!

Yeah this game is part remake and part sequel, some of the stuff doesn't make much sense without the context of the original game. Thankfully they confirmed the next part will still have a lot of story events from the OG while also having brand new surprises

In case anyone is curious, hitting Rufus with Braver when he uses Reload automatically staggers him. You've got a bigger window to pull it off than it initially seems, too.

Talk about ramping it up. Where as the game seemed to drag on a few times before, now they`re really stepping up the action. Sinrah`s just throwing the kitchen sink at them.

I have a replica of Sephiroth’s sword. You have to be crazy strong to be able to wield it with the level of easy that he does.

*sees in the credits that Sephiroth was Tyler Hoechlin* So that's how he got so strong, he's frickin Superman!

It just blew my mind.....I know im kinda late here, but daaaaammmm, so it makes this whole thing about rebirth and everything just more interesting....this remake saga its actually a Remake but a real remake........man Whimsy if you see this comment, advent children is a FF7 movie that continues the OG game events....but its savage because still after all the research Ive done I dont understand anything🤑🤑🤑👌

1:24:33 Your combat style, or way of interacting with this boss, is different from what others might do. If you ever do decide to replay the game, watch for the ques to use your strongest attacks when the boss is staggered instead of just normal attacks. Wasting your triangle power attacks on one wheel or two is a bit over kill. Hitting the gas to get to one side or the other, instead of just waiting for the machine to use its side attack, would also speed up the fight considerably. It is a long fight, I mean it is a Final Fantasy game, which are known for their boss fights, but there are always key ways and weaknesses to go at each one. Wait till you meet Ruby or Emerald. Also you may want to pull the camera back during combat, a menu setting. Might help in seeing more of the attack spreads. Good reactions, and watching a new player interact and react to the story and combat.

Which companion reaches Cloud first seems to depend on who has the strongest relationship with him. In mine in was Aerith. And I love the exchange they have. Cloud: He’s tough. Aerith: Yeah? So what, screw him!

This isn't true. Its only dependent on who you use more in the final battles beforehand, and what they accomplish. It is an enforced order of the first character being either Tifa or Aerith, and the second character being Tifa, Aerith, or Barret, but it doesn't have to do at all with any choices before Chapter 18. The final chapter where relationship matters is Ch 14. Ch 15-17 is nothing, and Ch 18 is standalone effects. If you focus on Barret then Tifa, you'll get Tifa then Barret arrive. If you focus on Aerith then Tifa, you'll get Aerith then Tifa arrive. There is a background points system.

Motor Ball’s a pain. You can use spinning slash to destroy 3 full health wheels in one attack, but that just makes it easy, not fun. The fact that it lets you skip it on repeat playthroughs means they knew it was a problem.

i just love how casually sephiroth throws whole buildings at the group haha. also: "how is he so powerful" is a excellent question. not as excellent as "what the fuck is that cat?", but still.. :D

The odd jobs you missed have to be done on a second playthrough, because it’s a branching quest line in chapter 9 while you’re in wall market. Different quests become available depending on what actions you take when you first get there.

Yeah the game is low key urging a 2nd playthrough, and depending on how you do things before/after Hard Mode, either a 3rd playthrough in play or some more chapter selecting. Anyone who is at least following a guide should be 100% and then some after 3 full playthroughs... or so (maybe a bit of chapter select for certain Hard Mode sidequests). And all are there to service the final gameplay challenge of the Shinra Combat simulator, whether base game or the one unlocked by Intermission. (But if you happen to accomplish that earlier, the rewards from them will help in more easily clearing everything in Hard story bosses).

I'm sooo glad you loved the game. This playthrough was a joy to watch, thank you soo much. Final Fantasy 7 is THE game for those like you who likes lore and think a lot mean while they play. It's also got so many fantastic character moments, the greatest twists and mindf*cks. It's the reason why the game gets the most cool Remake ever and the reason why it got the most popular characters, bosses, story and music in all of gaming. Btw FF7 has the most loved soundtrack of all time, Remake won best soundtrack of 2020, FF16 2023 and Rebirth will win this year.

I did think it was interesting that you said you played the XVI demo, but could get into it and thought maybe the FF franchise was not for you. My experience with FF is that I played a couple of them and thought they were OK but that VII was the only one that I really got into. When it comes to more hardcore FF fans, I've noticed that many of them will have a nostalgic connection to VII, as it was the first FF game for many of them, but none of them will say it's the best (most of them don't even put it in their top 3). My conclusion is that if FF really is for you, then VII is not the best, but it is the most "accessible," which is what I call media that is more mainstream or having widespread appeal. As someone who often gravitates towards media like movies that are not popular I usually use that term as a negative against people who can only appreciate what is mainstream, but it appears that when it comes to FF I happen to be on the other side of that fence, so I've just kinda learned to accept that over the years.

Depending on who you connected with joins you in the final fight. I had Aerith and Tifa. Have you seen the other scenes in Aerith's garden if you didn't connect with tifa and got the other two? Would love to see your reaction to other ones.

lol, this game sent down a rabbit hole of picking apart every line of the OG FF7, then going back and doing the same thing here. 29th is almost here girl! Nice job staggering Seph right off the rip and knocking him back and down through the platform, not a lot of people pull that off. There's so many different ways that fight plays out (like party members joining in, him knocking you back multiple times etc etc) In regards to your closing statements. FFX and IX are timeless classics from the PSX/PS2 Era. VI is really good, and VIII is hit or miss among fans, but still is held in wide regard as a great game never the less.

The bottom of Rufus's trenchcoat is literally just belts. All the belts. Sometimes I think Nomura is aware of the memes and leans into them as hard as he can. That said, it somehow works in the aesthetics of Final Fantasy design. Speaking of outfits, your cosplay is amazing, you are selling yourself short.

Aerith always knew something. Remember in chapter 8 where Cloud asks her about Sephiroth and she looks to the side and says "oh, right..." then goes on her merry way. I'm sure she was uncertain of what to reveal at which time.

I believe she also doesn't have perfect knowledge anyway. She clearly has an idea of the narrative and is both fearful of and anticipating the future, but there's also moments where it seems she genuinely doesn't entirely know a thing and yet also doesn't seem like she's fibbing about being ignorant. The planet is dead set on speaking to her and she likes to listen, but like the scene where childhood Aerith is hiding from Tseng, she also has an inclination to not actively learning and internalizing all of what makes her important.

I loved FF16 but its barely a Final Fantasy game and storywise very Game Of Thrones. 4 through 9 are what you want to start with to get into the series. Remake is a good modern start, but the story gets even more confusing than it already is without playing the first FF7 or experiencing anything from the compilation. Anyways well played!

Honestly, you made that last boss fight way harder than it needed to be. Yeah, using Limit Breaks on staggered foes deal more damage, but his health was not even a fingernail bit left. And yeah, 2 of the Limits were interrupted by Sephiroth, but it's because you spent most of the time idling by in the intervals where he'd do some other attack before Heartless Angel. Not sure if you noticed, but he would usually only focus his attacks on the character you're controlling. You could have ordered one of the others who had their Limits up to activate them while his focus was on the character you were currently steering. No need for you to switch to use Limits.

It's not a perfect game but it's so damn close!

2:42:40 Honestly, each game in the franchise is hit or miss even for long time fans. Whether it's the story, the characters, or the game mechanics, there are just some elements of each game that aren't going to gel with everyone. It can sometimes make for stimulating conversations, just as long as everyone understands that my opinion is the only correct opinion.

Wait until FF7 Rebirth. What happens after Midgar is what makes Final Fantasy VII so great.

Are you gonna play Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core? Which is a prequel to the FF7 and you’ll get to know all about Zack in that game.

Hopefully you give FF16 another chance. Sometimes there's a gaming cliff you have to overcome to really get into a game. I would quit most games if I could only play an hour into it, just something I learned over the years hope that makes sense.

16 is kind of a different style of game. It's actually closer to God of War or Devil May Cry then a FF. I wouldn't call it a bad game. But it's very different then the older games. After 10... Square lost their way for a while and now there are 3 main types. The older style (up to 10.) The newer action movie style (13, 15, 16.) And the MMO style (11, 12, 14.).

@@reaperbsc 13 has other problems but it is 100% a classic turn based FF game with ATB, it's nothing like 15 or 16. That said i think 7 is the best balance of strategy and action I've ever seen in the franchise. I wish 16 had more of that, it was just wayyyy too simple of a battle system for my taste.

I just can’t get into FF16. I keep trying to go back to it, but as much as I generally love and tear through all the (non MMO) FF games I just can’t really enjoy the gameplay style and the story is… fine so far. But the 7 Remake and hopefully Rebirth are just about perfect for what I want from an JRPG!

XVI's story was all about a self centered ego-trip about royalty, chosen ones and personal tragedy. VII is about overcoming failure, PTSD, trust, loyalty, friendship, but also collective tragedy, war crimes, politics, ecology ...This is a whole other league.
