This man Ludwig Van Beethoven was abused so badly his father was a musician for the Queen and he taught his son to play many instruments the piano was his outlet his father was a perfectionist and was very strict with Ludwig and would deny his son food and water unless he could perform pieces of music without one mistake and if he did make a mistake his father would slap and kick him if the note was off his father would strike his ears and they would bleed he never married he dedicated his life to writing music most of it generated from pain and suffering and he fell in love with a woman he never told her. She was a fellow guest at a friend's chateau where Ludwig also was staying for the Summer. He would see her walking around the gardens and courtyard at night and fell in love with her.he spoke with her once and they walked the courtyards together in full sight of everyone but they were such friends and would make each other laugh so hard but she was married her husband away on family business and the gossip of inappropriate friendship began Ludwig van Beethoven was told to back off and so was she she was heartbroken and so was he. At night she would walk the courtyards he would watch her cry and he did also weep. He wrote this song for her the beginning a longing almost telling you already a beautiful love doomed before it began the part you hear as indignant then angry the unfolding of why they cannot see each other the pain it gave them then the formal classical sounding mundane pomp and circumstance sound then it goes into the rapid desperation like to say no no she feels the same way see what you have done if I continue to persue her we would face terrible circumstances ..then to let her go because to disgrace her reputation would be unbearable to cause anyone to see her as anything but a dream would kill me...the song was written for her or because of her and the original title was or is actually sonata quasi una fantasia in 1802.

What I love about classical music is that these composers could tell a story without even having to say a word. They just make the music and your imagination can fill in whatever it wants.

Tbh reactions are one of the best ways to listen to classical solo piano like this. Good professional pianists put so much polish on how every note sounds, how to to voice every chord, know how to bend rhythm subtly and precisely, etc. And then the pieces they play are typically even more meticulously constructed. The more carefully you listen and let the music move you without distractions, the more you will enjoy it. If I’m listening to a serious piece I can’t even really pay attention to it and doing anything else-I kind of just get swept along for the ride. PS if you want to delve more into this. Try listening to some Chopin-he wrote very accessible but still masterful music for the piano-I recommend starting with krystian zimerman’s performances of his ballade no 1. Beethoven’s piano works are probably my favorites now overall, but I didn’t fully appreciate his stuff until more recently.

  • @matthewv789

This is a great point about the polish professional pianist put into every note. Unfortunately, this particular recording is not one of them. It’s a programmed MIDI track played on a not-very-good sample library (very robotic and artificial sounding). I mean all the notes are there, and a bit of rudimentary expression, but that’s about it. It’s ironic that such a recording would be the one to get 183 million views and thus be the one that EVERYONE reacts to. Gah…

From Eminem to Beethoven, I'm rockin' with ya! Plz do Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Winter (it's universally the best season of this piece) 😊 I really think you'll be blown away 💖 If you react to it be sure to find a video where a full orchestra is used - it's largely a violin/string instrument composition peppered with other instruments. Anything else (like a piano solo) just doesn't do it justice. Thx for reading 🙏

Beethoven began losing his hearing around 1798 and it gradually grew worse until he was almost totally deaf by about 1815, though he could still sometimes hear lower tones or very loud sounds.
