lol I told you. I was the tall guy working for guest services that day in your section and the same one who was outside the gate when you left. I knew it was a great pick. I was up by section 131 hyped up and people were probably thinking that I was crazy as hell lol. I was thrilled about the pick either but he's made our qb room look a whole lot better than last year

People keep forgetting that we might not have a first round pick next year. Trust me this pick will make TF look like a genius in a couple years. I still wish we bring a couple of veterans to shore up the secondary and pass rush

Oh yeah, he looked so good when he played the only pro style defense he faced last year against Michigan. He had the best receiving Corp in the country and couldn’t do sh*t. Even faked injuries for sympathy. Rewatch the game, notice every time things are going their way he’s fine, but he misses on a pass all the sudden he’s holding his ribs. He and that Washington offense had one of the most gutless performances I’ve ever seen in a CFP game.

As a Lions fan, I'm not that invested in the Falcons' draft picks. But that said, YOU SIR, are a total class act! Big respect to you for doing this video. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

We needed a qb so I get kirk signing, kirk will probably get 10 or more wins so that means you wont get another top 10 pick the problem is kirk is 35 years old, coming off injury, with who aa a back up qb Taylor H. How could you not draft pinex at 8 ??? All of those edge rushers you named wont move the needle that much not without quality qb play and if kirk is not ready week 1 lol Taylor H. No sir great pick in my opinion and still got d line help later the best draft for the Falcons in a long time .

I'm on the same boat with you, Coach. I didn't like it right at first, but the more I've heard and read - the more I like it. I was wanting them to get Penix halfway through football season last year. I actually watched quite a few UW games, and MP has one of the best arms I've seen in a good while. Look at it this way. Over the last two seasons, the Falcons have by FAR had the WORST QB situation in the NFL, and it's not even debatable. NOW - the Falcons might have the BEST QB situation in the NFL. I think that we'll get at least 2 good years out of Cousins (and his contract won't go under the cap after year 2). At that point, I'd imagine Penix will take over. Football is an expensive sport, so there's that as well. Still - Penix will learn a LOT under Cousins. Finally - Penix isn't as fast and quick as Vick was, but he's a LOT more accurate than Vick ever thought about being. MP might have one hell of a career. I'll say this - I'd MUCH rather have Penix than Caleb Williams (he'll be a bust), or any of the other QB's in this year's draft...

I was happy when the Falcons picked MPJ and I'm still happy.

No need to think about it. I was saying that this pick was outstanding from the beginning but folks were GOING in on it. I love the pick.

Interesting pick and like so many others when I first heard the pick I was like wow.. not unhappy with the player but surprised in the pick at 8. Why? Because in my mind "I" was set that we had to take an Edge player and during the entire offseason every media outlet, content creator, and Falcons fan had convinced each other that an Edgde rusher was the only way to go. However, the more I think and sleep on it, the more it makes sense and proves why I am not the GM. This move may turn out to be a stroke of genius by Terry!! Cowherd also said 3 other teams tried to move up to get Penix which seems to be a widespread statement about the draft. If we can take our emotions out of the pick, it actually could be a pretty slick move. Time will tell.

Bo looking at the big picture, even if we were paying cousins a billion, it doesn’t change the fact that if he got hurt, that money is pointless. Plus like you said, he’s 36.

I haven't seen this much interest in the Falcons since the 2016 Superbowl. Some press is better than no press.

100% agreed on everything. Almost. Matt Ryan, Julio, Roddy can all argue for the best picks in Falcons history. But 100% on the Penix Jr view. Initial shock. Then the "Shoot, that's a genius pick." We're set for the present with Kirko, and the future with Penix. Plus the rest of the draft was solid.

I was sold from the beginning; I love the Cousins signing for the next year or two, but yeah, this guy excites me. I saw a clip on KZread a week before the draft with Shefty mentioning that the Falcons were spending time and money on Penix and really liked him, so I wasn't as surprised by the pick like everyone else seemed to be. I felt relief knowing that arm will be sitting on the bench, we had already gotten rid or Ridder, and I didn't trust Heinicke to take the reigns again. Awesome you got that footage of Cousins already, love it. He's such a good sport. Keep up the great work!

Nearly every year there are several qbs that are taken and then a few years later we all look at them and say how bad GMs are at drafting qbs. Then the next year, all the qbs are taken again the next year. We were in a perfect position to see what was available in round 2 or round 3 or in the case of Rattler Round 5. This may be a bust or not but unless Kirk is injured again this year, this was a waste. Could have had all kinds of other elite talent. I like Penix just not at 8.

The initial take and consensus about the picj not being the right one is likely the correct thought. What's happening now is, he is here now, so now everybody is in justify it mode. Saying you're in win now mode and drafting a player who's going to sit for at least 2 years doesn't make sense.

As a T-Wolves and Falcons fan (I know right...) I hope this works out to be the Falcons equivalent of the Gobert Trade (looks much better in hindsight than it did at the time).

All I know is this: last year, we had Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heineke. This year we have Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr

fans saw how we had a chance to start winning again and were ready to throw away everything to see 2-3 years of winning, meanwhile terry and raheem said they're trying to ensure long sustained success and the fans mad at it. i was mad at it too, but id rather have this then go through what the vikings had to go through or put the franchises hands in a 3rd rounder again. if raheem saw similar characteristics of matthew stafford in penix then i aint mad at it lol

Bad timing and organization makes this pick a lost for both parties.

Everyone trying make themselves feel better by saying they like this pick. Either the pick was stupid or it was stupid to sign Cousins. Both together equal dumb AF.

So what they say happened is.. they tried trading up to top 4 before FA began but no one agreed and they didn't think Penix would fall to 8. They didn't want to risk having Heinicke or another mid QB as the starting QB so they signed Cousins. Apparently they had Penix #2 on their board only behind Caleb.

@@RoyalHabsburg No the Knuckle head move was letting Matt Ryan leave without a young successor to takeover at QB. The front office addressed that past mistake last Thursday night by drafting Penix! Penix can learn from Kirk and continue to develop to when he eventually takes over as Starter!

I think it was a great pick. I was very impressed with his play. He may be one of the top two or three QB in this draft. Plus, counting on Cousins is not too wise. He has never been and will never be a great QB. He has been serviceable to slightly better than that. He is coming off a major injury and has been playing since 2012. Remember, Cousins was a 4th round pick (102 overall). He is better than most of the others at his position taken in that draft, but that isn't saying much. Penix may be better than every QB taken in 2012, including Luck. Be happy you probably have a starter and a backup who are superior to every other quarterback in your division. I don't trust Mayfield. Carr is mediocre at best. Young may get better, but he needs to get a LOT better. Be happy Falcons fans. Your team has talent and weapons. They believed they mostly needed a signal caller. They have two now and they may need both during the season. A division title in Atlanta is very possible.

Maaan, don’t be so hard on yourself. I think every single person except the people in that room reacted with surprise. We see way too many mock drafts and then think that’s what we take. So we get disappointed. Only time will tell if this pick is great, but we know Michael Penix is.

Your initial reaction is the one I still have- they should have gotten one or the other.

Low got his VIP status taken away by the Falcons, so he changed his tune.
