As your trusty friend I'd like to ask that you use the energy you would have expelled on liking and subscribing to instead follow my little sisters artwork. She's working on a painting of Mike Video Punk right now that'll make you believe in love again. instagram.com/bailsos/

Ur too next level brother 😎😎
I get a huge rush when I see one of your videos come up in my feed. I know that for a few minutes I'll experience a beautiful, heartfelt piece of art that will enrich my soul. Every. Time. I'm a city hater too. I had to go to NYC for work and hated it. But I did find one perfect gem of a moment. An old man sitting cross-legged on the filthy floor of the subway platform at Times Square. He was drawing in pastels with a cat sleeping peacefully in his lap while the trains roared.
I think cities lend themselves to feelings of anonymity and can sometimes provide your problems with a sense of scale. Sometimes when life gets a bit too much, I llike to sit myself down with a good book in a busy square and luxuriate in the fact that despite the hundreds of people around, no one cares who I am or what I'm doing. Whereas, wide open spaces and isolation bring my focus back inwards. I head to the peaks and moorland when I'm in a good place and want to enjoy my own head, not seek reprieve from it. Plus people are more likely to be curious about you on the top of a mountain for some reason thanks for coming to my TED Talk P.S. loved the video ❤
Why can't I put the feelings this video gave me into words???? It just goes so deep... Thank you man ❤
I literally cried. Thanks for been such an amazing artist.
Amazing work, man.
Incredibly solid work. I've stopped engaging with most user generated media, even in artistic spaces like the things you make, because parasocial relationships began to feel so weird to me that I didn't want to foster them anymore. The things you bring into the world are some of the only things that break through that barrier. I think that's the highest compliment I could give to a stranger on the internet. It's a much bigger compliment than it sounds.

@@ShafferN No problem. Credit where credit is due and all. Keep up the good work.
This is fucking filmmaking, dude. I'm floored by how good this is, and I don't even usually go for genuine "short film" category stuff. Subbed, and let me know if you want any extras for skiing/snowboarding b-roll for any Colorado shooting locations. It would be an honor to work with you.
AHHH This is so good! How you frame the story you plan to tell, how you're able to express your introspective journey, the cinematography and OH MY GERRRD, THE EDITING (especially the 2 minute intro)! Love your work Shaffer. The stories you tell have been amazing, each one holding a lil lesson on life. Truly excited to see what comes next
I completely agree with you, Shaffer! I don't like big cities as well. While I do live in the capital of Latvia - Riga, it is nowhere near as loud, as hectic and as unpredictable as New York City. I visited NYC 5 months ago and immediately felt an uneasy feeling - everything was SO FAST, SO LOUD...and so stressful? I can now imagine why people who live in these big cities are always so stressed about everything and are in the fear of "missing out on things", it's because if you look all around you, it feels like everyone is doing something, rushing somewhere and thus you kind of unknowingly slip into that stream as well. Great video, man! :)
@shaffer please make a full length movie ! You are an amazing filmmaker . You got what it takes ❤
Found this through musicbed selections and I love this style. speaking to my soul
Hey there, I have a few things to say about your content: Your channel is really underrated, and that's a good thing. It's this little corner on the Internet where it's okay if things are not okay. It's a little diary of your life, and I really feel at home here. There are a lot of emotions that many can relate to, and I find comfort in that. You are like a distant friend that doesn't try to cheer me up, but sits by me feeling the same and thus sharing the momentary pain. There are a lot of ups and downs in life and I am happy to share them with you. Every single one. I am happy that I found your channel and I'm very grateful that you are sharing your ups and downs with us. It's okay and important to find weakness in oneself and it's okay to show emotions. That's what makes us human. Thank you very much ♥️
your storytelling, video composition...etc. so inspring !! Great one!!
“Emotional embassies”. Love that! Today I will let that idea rattle around in my head and see what develops. Prop’s Schaffer
I agree with LBerg below. Make a full length movie. You're way past ready!! And the world needs it!! btw, love the link to Bailsos' work. Love bomb to you both!!
I have the same built in 'hatred' for cities (and inner city suburbs) - for the simple reason that it's hard to view the horizon (creating that feeling of being trapped in a maze) BUT New York looks like the city of views.
I have never subscribed faster. This was a masterpiece. Thank you. Teared up a bit at the end.
I honestly don't think you'll ever stop surprising us. This was soooo good! I absolutely love the anchor metaphor. Whenever I push myself out of the norm, the standard day-to-day life, that's when I realise what I value in life so much. Great video, seriously! PS. still waiting for that jacket hahahahh
totally sold on that soul metaphor~! bravo!
Only found out about this channel recently and I'm loving it. Awesome filmmaking and storytelling. You deserve a lot more recognition. Keep it up!
Man, you have a way of bringing your feelings into the real world through film like no one else I know. Every time i watch one of your videos, it seems like I'm able to make sense of who I am a little bit more than before.
Your channel truly is my biggest inspiration and ideal image of KZread, from your cinematography to the message of your story, your channel truly is amazing
Wow! Beautiful video. Loved this one. I love cities and I love beaches, mountains, etc. My wife and I went to NYC in fall of 2021 and although I’d been there for concerts before I’d never spent 3 days exploring it. I love NYC. I don’t think I could live there but it’s a fantastic place to explore. Thanks for sharing this with us. That shot of the no skateboarding sign and then finger boarding, well done.
Incredible storytelling as always! I’m not a fan of cities either but there’s something special about NYC. Keep up the good work Shaffer!
I resonate so much with your videos man, with your way of being. If I had a youtube channel it would look like this
Everyone who goes to NYC forges their own path and has such unique experiences- each story is different. That's why I love that city. Thank you for sharing your story Shaffer, killer video as always.
dude, I feel you. brilliant production man. thank you
At this juncture I need to say, "Don't leave us anytime soon." I'm an OG, old guy. I'm learning from you although I've lived through a lot of shit already. Congrats on your sobriety as I sit here and contemplate mine 9 drinks in. 63, land living a life of awareness, now.... And there is a future that is unfathomable for you. Patience and on His terms.
Your work is so beautiful! Every little tiny detail… Great work!
Randomly my first time in NYC was also with Jake and it was quite the experience. NYC is something else and I love it more each time I go back. Also, incredible storytelling and cuts. Loved it.
Congrats on the Diamond Award by Musicbed!! This is one of my favs of your stuff.
It’s the worst when cars don’t want to wake up from car sleep. Loved the video, and NYC looked like a fun time outside your comfort zone. Keep up the awesome content!
As always, adore your work Shaffer. So on point. Looking forward to the next one.
Great and honest video. I really enjoyed the many different styles in cinematography you used. Always happy to see new videos from you 😇
Gotta get me one of those soul do dad puzzle thingies! Great Metaphore and prop! Brilliant video Shaffer!
Simply the best storytelling. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful work, great vibes, I smiled all along, keep it up 🤘
If I ever want to feel a sense of calm, I know can come to your. I love the wide open spaces too, but unlike you I have only ever lived in a city, I yearn to be living free in the expanse of the American west but, well It's just not time yet, until then your beautiful pieces of art keep that yearning strong.
Inspiring work. Could you speak about the color grading process?
Another great video. I'm surprised you went to NYC of all places. But it is definitely an over populated city. Hope you had a good time regardless.
Just subbed. Props from Mexico 🇲🇽 great vid 🤙🏽

Another great video mate! held out for some new content and didn't disappoint.
I loved the analogy with the ancors ☺
This is one of the best video I’ve seen on the platform. The story, the cinematography, the essay, everything. Like many others said here, your work is very inspirational and represents what I want to see here on KZread. All the best for 2023 man 🫶🏻
dang… this video really tugged on my soul anchors 🥺
Cool video and nice editing 🙂

How do you only have 16k subs. your videos are TOP KZreadR standard
another masterpiece, beautiful!
I need you and Van Neistat to make something epic asap!
I also consider myself a cool, calm, collected person.. just like you.
The energy that comes through the lens when your sister smiles is incredible!
Bro how do you not have 10 million subscribers?
what about those small ski towns? Don't you love those? You kinda get a little bit of the best of both worlds. Small towns in america are virtually dead, but they were once great places that were destroyed by the suburbs. I've thought about this a lot, but I think van life people are earning for the cool small towns we no longer have.
damn that was good. Inspiring work
the color grade is Incredible
Where'd you get that sweater?
My day last Week: Dead Battery 🤝 Car wont start 🤝 In the middle of the City
