I would not imagine being in this same position like Sheila. I would absolutely reach a Breaking Point if I had to put up with any ridiculous rules for years and years. That would be a nightmare for me. That will affect me emotionally, mentally and personally. I am so glad that didn’t happen to me. I'm 42 and can't even have one or two hours to brush my teeth and head to sleep with the light off without my mom come charging home quick as to say, "Don't have to run downstairs to open the door, I wish you would leave everything how I had it." In our house, my mom likes to run lights on, even when no one is in the room and even for our cat at 4am in the morning, you can't go to sleep early I'm the house, nor wake up early because it is too "suspicious" to her and all your money goes towards feeding outside feral cats which is ridiculous.

Hi Sheila, Bella i have a twin sister named Amaya and my mom legit said the same thing and i have more irrational rules but i can relate to you. and i don't know how your mom thinks cinderella is a bad movie i could understand how mean your mom is. and i feel so amazed that you were able to fallow your mom's ridiculous rules. and i am so sorry for you but having a mom like that i think she has a phobia.

Imagine if Sheila continued to put up with her mom and especially her Ridiculous rules for years. It will get to the point where Sheila would reach a Breaking Point where she still not get over it. Yes, this is what I would say to Sheilia: "I hate your Mum. Your Mum is just ridiculous, limitive, restrictive, intrusive, strict, expectation, abusive, etc. You need to stand up for yourself. Be yourself. You need to stay true to yourself. Give her a taste of her own medicine. You can escape home, live with someone else, call the police, get adopted, talk to someone, etc. If you talk to your Mum and it doesn't work, then be yourself and you need to live your own life. You can break her rules, boundaries, expectations, wants, wishes, requests, boundaries, etc."

I've had no problems like this and neither of my parents ever acted this way. I feel so sorry about poor Sheila, my advice to her is to run away as far as the next town, go to the police or a therapist, and ask them for help.

Easy, leave a note that you can’t handle those rules anymore and run away, you can do it during the summer so you don’t miss school and it will be enough time for your mom to get gel from a psychologist (you should mention that she should see one in the note)

Those rules are so weird dumb and not helpful for anyone e.g flushing the loo at night Everyone does that it’s a normal thing to do

Sheila’s mom ridiculous rules should never existed. It’s just not on. Sheila should never have to put up with this and also put up with her mother behaviour. If I was her dad for example. My reaction if Sheila told me everything that happened, I would be furious, Livid and angry at her mother.

If I had parents like that I would leave when I’m 18 and I would yell at my mom.

My mom almost doesn't even have any rules for me

No Child should ever have to put up with ridiculous rules and put up with this sort of behaviour. It’s just not on. Make no mistake about it that Child Abuse is a crime.

I would’ve been super annoyed and angry. Outrage with this woman.

What would happen if the mom breaks her own rules. I don’t think she even follows them or gets punished. Since she is the rule maker.

We had similar rules with internet back in the day we had exactly same length but for TV we can watch long we want. Thank God we can drink during dinner time. Thank God I have my own rules now.
