I remember watching this after our 2020 disaster season and thinking this guy was so well spoken and motivated for success. 2023 National Champions, 3-peat B1G Champions, Rose Bowl MVP and 3-0 vs ohio state later and he's declared for the NFL Draft. Thank you for everything J.J.

Fast Forward to 2024, and JJ wasn't just a star. He became a legend at Michigan! 27-1 as a starter, won back-to-back B1G Championships, and won a natty. He also beat OSU×2, PSUx2, retired the goat Saban and beat Bama , and beat Washington.

I witnessed Nazareth Academy & J.J. McCarthy back in 2019 vs. my wife’s alma mater, Rolling Meadows H.S. in the semifinals of the Class 7A State 🏈 playoffs. J.J. was 10 for 11 passing with four touchdowns…in the first quarter!!! (McCarthy finished 19-for-25 passing, 330 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT). My twins and I witnessed the greatest high school quarterback performance ever. Today in 2022, J.J. leads the NCAA in completion percentage 🎯 and #3 Michigan with a perfect 9-0 record so far.

As a Michigan fan I have been following JJ Mccarthy since high-school and I can't believe I have found a video I have not seen before. Just amazing to see a video from 4 years ago and as May 4th 2024 he has not changed. It's hard to believe that a young man his age is willing to put in the time/work to be the man today. I used to be a lion's fan and now I am a vikings fan. I doubt that JJ Mccarthy will ever read this message but if you do congratulations your hard work and dedication has made you a national champion and now the 10th pick in the 2024 draft. I remember when reporters were talking to you about the possibility of being a heisman candidate and you said although it would be an honor you would rather have rings.

Can’t wait to see him starting. He’s going to ball out and be one of Michigan footballs greats.

J.J. goes to Nazareth Academy, my old high school. I have watched him play the last two years and he is incredible. I'm looking forward to watching him play this year as a senior. This is what I Michigan quarterback should be like, have this mentality of the sky isn’t the limit, only your mind is, nothing can stop you if you don’t let it. I don’t know what are coaches saw in the quarter backs in the past couple seasons (mich fans should know everyone I’m talking about) but they definitely got a gem here. Hopefully JJ is the first of many great quarterbacks to come and no more garbage quarterbacks!

LaGrange is basically Chicago and he makes it sound like it’s in rural Illinois. Talking about using haystacks for working out. Nazareth is literally on a street that starts in Chicago. As everyone from Chicago/the Burbs knows, Chicago/the Burbs is totally different than the rest of Illinois. Basically it’s own state.

Ok did some research here is the good, bad and a little mis-direction: first the gritty Midwest town and school he’s from is Nazareth Academy an elite expensive Private school from LaGrange Park Illinois which is right next door and caters to Hinsdale, Oak Brook and Western Springs are noted as some of the wealthiest zip codes in the country. This area is no where near gritty Chicago. Then he wintered last year at IMG in Florida, basically a year round camp for future D1 and professional athletes. This isn’t to disparage JJ he is a premier athlete, just pointing out the smoke and mirrors about the brand building story here. Now about the decision to sign with Michigan? Interesting that last year and the others at elite Nazareth Academy he was the star, this year it will soon be cold in Michigan and he will be holding Harbaughs clipboard as Cade runs the offense. That’s a fact and I wonder if JJ would make the same decision again ? He’s been All America this and that since the 7th grade. This will be his biggest test. Sitting the bench in the cruel gritty Midwest winter.
