Floor would have been a fabulous 1940's chanteuse. Nightwish saved Floor, yes but she also saved Nightwish and brought them to new heights with her voice, stage presence and personality. She is, without a doubt, one of, if not the, best vocalists alive today. I truly believe she is as close to perfection as we will ever see in our lifetime.

John,I agree with your assessment 100% and as for your '40s chanteuse', yes, absolutely, no more so than the soft nightclub singer she portrayed in the 'Elan' video. 😊

Floor is one of the best Singer in our Lifetime. Not only Metal or her Solo, she can sing everything (ok little joke , no french Rap)

Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Lovely reaction. So happy that she inspired you to return to your passion for music. I have no musical abilities at all which has always frustrated me since I love music so much. Luckily my kids inherited their mother's musical abilities and I made sure they explored them even if they now are only casual listners. I love Floor's ability to tell stories and evoke emotion in me.

Fan girl all you want young lady. It's perfectly fine. She does that to everyone. I love to see the emotions she brings out of everyone. That way it don't make me feel like I'm getting over emotional myself. I'm 52 and I've been in a musician and singer since I was 16. My life is engulfed in music all my life. My dad was in a band when I was young. Back in the seventies. He played in bands from back in the 60s. He taught my old brother, younger brother and I how to play guitar when we were very young. My old brother of 5 years went on to play trumpet, saxophone and, French horn. He took 1st chair on trumpet at start. Then 3rd chair at all north west. He ended up playing for the navy when he joined the navy. My young brother went to to play bass in jass band in high school. Then took musical theater at Wyo university. I decided to play drums because I'm ADHD really bad too. He told me get a job and buy your own. Got a job at Pizza Hut and bought my own. Took musical theater as well and me and my young brother have been in bands together most of our adult lives. I've played bass for many years and drums for most. He played bass ang guitar. We both sing. I can only play drums and sing. Can't play guitar or bass and sing. I tell you this to show you how involved my family has been in music. I appreciate all kinds of music. I grew up with it. From Johnny Cash, Elvis, Led Zeppelin, to Iron Maiden. Pat Benatar was my favorite female for many years. Then Amy Lee. Luciano Pavaoratti was my all time favorite. Robert Plant, Dio. Then Floor stepped in and took place of all of them. She is the only singer that puts a tear to my eye. Never had that happen before in my life. Her demeanor in music and life is so intriguing. You just cannot love this woman. I'm just so glad I got to be around to experience this great talent we have to witness.

Music is a passion and is food for the soul. Notoriety, money just a small thing compared to who we all are and how we communicate our feelings and music will always remain true to us. Never give up on the things your passionate about. It's not about what other people think it's about how you feel. Keep up the good work music is life.

Floor has said she will not leave Nightwish. I believe she feels a duty to stay with Tuomas who was her saviour so to speak when he called her to ask if she would replace Anette Olzon who had left the band. At that time, Floor was deep in a bad mental state, but having worked with Tuomas during her After Forever days, I think she wanted to get herself out of that funk she was in so she agreed to a part-time job with Nightwish. And the rest, as we all know and love, is history in the making. 😍😍😍

This is the first time I see a reaction of you. If you like Floor's voice so much let me suggest that you listen to her at Beste Zangers (2019). Dutxh show where singers sing eachother songs or song that mean something to to them. She sings there in German, Spanisch, Dutch en English and I promiss you "you like every song".

I love this one! Phantom of the Opera is one of my favourite musicals and it was wonderful seeing Floor sing it, Henk is amazing too, I always remember him from performance in Les Mis. :)
