I'm Now Symptom Free from POTS and Fibromyalgia!

Learn how Gigi Cockell recovered from ten years of debilitating symptoms, including POTS, Fibromyalgia and Interstitial Cystitis. When symptoms first struck at age 16, she found it difficult to walk, much less have a typical adolescence. After her initial skepticism, Gigi opened to mind-body healing and made a full recovery. Gigi tells us how she became "symptom-free" through emerging science and uncompromising self-love.

    Thank you Rebecca and Gigi for posting this. I am a male who struggled with Chronic Pelvic Pain/IC/Painful Bladder Pain symptoms for three years. My symptoms started improving after I learned about Dr. Sarno's work on mindbody syndromes. I also follow Dr. Shubiner's continued work in this field and the knowledge of knowing the real causes of chronic pain has been the missing piece of the puzzle. Just like everyone, I put all my hopes in the traditional medical model of treatments, talked to different therapists, went through PT, including practicing the Wise-Anderson protocol for treating pelvic pain, practiced mindfulness, diets, supplements, daily stretching routines, and all-in-all I got to about 75% better on average. Although I was able to resume my life, the 25% that was still unresolved was still worrisome and fear-inducing when I would flare up. I just want to say that I enjoyed this particular episode, because both of you are great coaches, and I have a particular interest in pelvic pain related success stories. I agree that of all the mindbody symptoms I have, IC was the one that was most difficult for me to deal with. Thanks for constantly reinforcing the set of mingbody tools we all need to keep applying in order for us all heal!

For acute spasms, even Charlie Horses, drink Tonic Water for the Quiniine. Stops it almost instantly! Wishing you all the best health!

    That's a lot to endure. I'm really sorry for all your suffering. We consider Fibromyalgia to be mind-body and many people recover from it through this approach! Dr. Howard Schubiner also says that all injuries heal and scars don't hurt. But the brain can learn, and unlearn, those neural pathways. Wishing you the best!

    I have a diagnosis of hEDS on top of my fibromyalgia & CFS diagnosis and the hEDS diagnosis has been confusing me slightly as it is believed to be a genetic condition and made me doubt my ability to heal and recover but there does seem to be a link to the nervous system / mind-body connection and it’s great to hear more stories of people healing from hEDS 😊

    Such a fantastic interview. While on my journey of understanding the power of mind/body healing, one of my biggest pieces of evidence was also the reduction and relief of symptoms after a session of emotional release. I'd cry and cry. Then I'd be struck by the awareness that I felt safe and symptom free for a good period of time. Gigi, thank you for sharing that experience. It reaffirms my experience as well. Some other evidence I gathered that proved to me my symptoms are mind/body was whenever I was/am with family or friends, my symptoms disappear. They are most evident when I'm alone. I've come so far on my healing journey with mind/body healing techniques and I'm positive I will fully recover. Thank you both for being a shining light! ❤

    Thank you so much for your testimony. I also have been diagnosed with POTS & CFS as well as Adrenal Fatigue due to my symptoms which overlap. But I also have very low blood pressure, which is physical-a blood pressure machine shows the BP so it’s not just a sensation or feeling fatigue, brain fog, etc. Can low blood pressure also be MindBody? And blood pooling in the feet (toes turn dark purple-physically).

  • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach

    @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach

    8 ай бұрын

    Hi there, It's important to be evaluated by a doctor for your blood pressure and blood pooling. But know that there are "physiological" changes that accompany mind-body/TMS symptoms. For instance, with anxiety there's changes in blood flow, hormone production and nerve firing patterns. With pain, there's often tight muscles. Even with a blushing face, there's changes in capillary blood flow. These are physiological changes caused by a psychological and nervous system state. But with TMS, there's not "pathological" or structural disease (as you might see with MS or cancer). It's very common for people to improve or completely recover from POTS, CFS and adrenal fatigue through this work! I'm an example of that myself and I have other recovery stories on this channel. There's some unlisted recovery stories on this page too: www.rebeccatolin.com/success Sending healing wishes to you! 💖

    I don't know where Gigi learned about inner child work but it's something I've worked with as well. Most of it came up naturally in my meditations but Sarno also wrote about the inner child, parent and adult. Howard Schubiner and Hal Greenham also talk about this a bit in their Freedom from Chronic Pain course and I work with the archetypes some in my Be Your Own Medicine course. But you can just start connecting to that child part of you, perhaps even looking at a childhood photo, and see what she needs!

    Also, I’m tapering off prescribed benzodiazapines and the symptoms are terrifying. Supposedly, it’s due to the GABA receptors downregulating and the excitatory glutamate is increased. This is a physical “damage” in the brain. Can it still be healed with MindBody/TMS work??

    That sounds so very challenging and I'm sorry to hear about your suffering. Mind-Body/TMS work can help with anything that is not considered physical or pathological damage. There is often a mind-body response in addition to any symptoms caused by medication withdrawal. Since I"m not a doctor, I can't comment on whether benzo withdrawl causes actual, or lasting, damage. But I had a client with many TMS symptoms, who was also tapering off benzos. She made huge progress with her TMS symptoms and got medical help for her withdrawal process. So I think you can still get great benefit from your TMS symptoms through this approach and there's often some overlap. I hope this helps and send my healing thoughts to you!
