I'm glad they made Hades as chill as he was in in the book. In fact, he's just as chill is most Greek myths. He just does his job, and his relationship with Persephone is remarkably functional for the time. For better than most interpretations of him being evil, including in the movie.

Book spoilers below, sort of: I don’t know what book you read but honestly Hades was NOT chill in the first book. He was chill in later books, but in the lightning thief he was the first god to appear twelve feet tall with a crown on his head and a robe made of lost and weeping souls. I was honestly kind of sad that they dulled him down, they could’ve saved this depiction for a later part of the series but oh well.

People complain that they dumbed Percy down too much in the show, that scene of him figuring out who stole the bolt was genius. It's not so much a matter of who has a grudge against Zeus (that queue would be as long as the universe) but who would have the balls to act on that grudge. The Titan Lord, one of the only beings who can actually pose a threat to the gods

Camp Half-Blood does accept younger campers! Annabeth ran away to go there when she was only seven. It's just that most parents don't send them that long for a combination of 3 reasons: 1) They're like Sally and don't want to let go of their babies, 2) The monster attacks increase as they become aware of themselves, so telling them earlier will put them in more danger sooner, and 3) Some parents don't actually know their kids are demigods. The gods don't always choose to disclose their identities to their lovers

14:39 Last I checked, if you eat food from the Underworld, that tethers you there, and you would not be able to leave. :| It's what happened with Persephone. Also, Hades didn't want to start a war. He already had issues with running the Underworld-- souls were clogging up spaces between the different zones. Very bad traffic down there. Later, in the fifth book, a son of Athena named Daedelus, who also designed the Cretian Labyrinth, had his punishment be to help design new structures to streamline the flow of souls throughout the Underworld. Not too bad of a punishment for prolonging his death by becoming an Automaton.

Waterbeds are strange. In my experience they are: hard to get out of, often too warm (because of the heater for the water), and sometimes even you wake yourself up from the sloshing sounds if you toss and turn too much

  • @Techydad

When you saw the waterbeds and said you'd try one, I might have shouted "NO!' at the screen. 😁 In the myths, Procrustes would have travelers lie in a bed. If the bed was too short for them, he'd center them on the bed and chop off their feet and heads until they fit. If the bed was too long, he'd stretch the people until they fit - with similarly fatal results. You do NOT want to try out his beds!

Crusty was in the first book but they ended up there by accident and he is never mentioned again. Also Percy has to save Annabeth and Grover from being stretched to death. Because Crusty kills his victims by trying to make sure they fit. If you are too short he stretches your spine and if you are too long he hacks away the arms or feet that don't fit. Very creepy.

What I love about this episode is how it highlights that Poseidon really wants to be part of Percy’s life, but is obligated to stay away from him. We also see that lesson about how looks can be deceiving as most assume Hades is an envious and villainous god but is actually quite the opposite as he only wants to be free of family drama and his rightful property restored. The moment Percy has to make the choice to leave his mom for now is so much impactful as you remember the last words of the prophecy: “And you shall fail to save what matters in the end.” Now of course it does have another meaning, but still gut wrenching. Can’t wait for the season finale!!! 🧑🏼‍🦱👩🏿‍🦱🧑🏾‍🦱☠️🌊🪖🔱⚡️💙💛🖤

In the books, Percy and company end up on the beach in California and they need to fly back. (Which is a big deal, of course, because the son of the Sea God going in the Air God's domain?!!!) Rick Riordan said that the pearls taking them to Montauk beach (on the east cosst of the US) meant they could skip the trip home for the TV show. Also, if the magic pearls could take you back to a sea and all seas are connected, why couldn't it teleport you to Montauk? It was a very good change to make given the time constraints that they had.

Actually, in th books th hades' palace is described as a copy of olympus seen frm outside, only black n bronze in color instead of white n silver. Th rooms are described as being made of pure gold n silver while th furnishings are made entirely of precious stones n gems, even th flowers, since hades is also th god of th riches of th earth. In th show his house is basically just a giant black stalactite.. not exactly similar to th books. It looks similar to tom ellis lucifer's hell in appearance

I wouldn’t call it encyclopedic, Ares mentioned Kronos earlier in the story to draw our attention to it and set up the plot point, so Percy himself figuring it out isn’t that big of a stretch
