You're correct there's likely not a fracture or broken bone but given the mechanism of injury I would be very suspicious for a rotator cuff tear. This is a tear of all the tendons and ligaments that allow us to move our arms around.. If that shoulder doesn't get better you should go directly to an orthopedic surgeon ( skip your primary /PCP) for evaluation of a rotator cuff tear/injury. To diagnose this you'll need a x-ray and then ultimately an MRI of the shoulder. MRIs are the definitive study to diagnose Rotator Cuff Tears... If torn then either PT ( physical therapy + time ) or surgery.

Kurt is correct. Also - a neglected rotator cuff injury only tends to get worse. Torn ligaments will atrophy with time and make an eventual repair more difficult. It can also result in shoulder instability, recurrent dislocations and accelerated shoulder arthritis. If it doesn't get better soon - have it checked out.

+1 for these guys-MD with musculoskeletal expertise here. Suspicious for rotator cuff tear/injury in the shoulder. Definitely keep working on range of motion (that’s what formal PT will do to start out anyway). You can find plenty online. If you’re finding an inability to move the shoulder, consider imaging to rule in/out complete tear, which is often amenable to surgery

Physical therapist here. Agree with these comments. If function has not returned in about a week see a local PT maybe not affiliated with the hospital and good online reviews. Should be less than $100 even with high deductible, they should be able to diagnose a rotator cuff tear pretty quickly. They probably have a relationship with an orthopedic surgeon and can get you on the fast track for imaging if it is torn, especially as some surgeons are booking weeks out even for office visits due to COVID delays. Hope you're feeling better God bless!

Pt is a waste of time and money. One of the biggest frauds ever to wrought the healthcare industry. I broke my scapula in half 3 months ago. Slung myself and drove one armed to the ER. At first, the MD was suspicious because I wasn't begging for pain meds I guess(he asked, I said "Figure it out first and they we'll deal with my discomfort) and after an x-ray he said "I see SOMEthing but it was the wrong aspect. After a CT...oh, you have a displaced fracture. In two places. Anyhoo...sent me to an orthopedic who was actually honest and said "You're healing very well...and your range of motion is good for a week out...It's your choice, but I don't see a need for PT in your case. You're apparently doing enough not to re injure" Unmotivated people and those who can't push past recovery pain NEED them I suppose but most with common sense know when they're pushing too far or not hard enough. I'm sure you'll heal up just fine on your own.

Reminds me of when my son (now 25) was about 3 months old, I was carrying him into the house and turned my ankle HARD. Knew I was going down, so I spun myself to land on my back. Knocked the wind out of me, managed to crack a rib, but the boy didn't even whimper! Ended up having surgery on the ankle. Dads protect their little ones.

It’s easy to let your guard down with hand tools. Ive heard before that them saws bite more people then you would think. Hopefully you heal up quickly without any permanent damage. Luckily you have a extra one on the other hand. And don’t let it stop you from getting that job done. Just make sure to wear some heavy gloves.

Because of my injuries I've taken up being a professional bus driver for special needs groups/ work activity. It's very rewarding! I get to be a positive role model for them. Lost all strength in it and couldn't even lift it high enough to flip a light switch for about a week. I did go to the doctor the next day because it was a work place injury. Had some pretty basic physical therapy for a couple weeks and by the end of that time my arm/shoulder was starting to work more like normal again. I'll tell you what they told me, for what it's worth; Rest it for a few days and then begin doing some light physical therapy. I had a doctor to instruct me but it all seemed pretty run of the mill. I bet you could find videos on easy/safe shoulder rehab exercises. Get well Cody and God bless.

But a homestead is diffrent, people are usually always home during the days leaving few opportunities to invade. So they might wait until dark to sneak in to steal something while people are sleeping.

Slipped on ice while carrying my little dog and ended up with a shoulder like that. Didn't go to the doctors either but walked around with my arm at my side for a month and could NOT raise it at the shoulder. Month or 2 later had a yearly physical and asked Doc when it would get better? He grabs arm and gently lifts it till arm was straight up and says see if you can hold it there, and I could! He said you are lucky it didn't progress to "frozen shoulder" syndrome. Sent me to therapy which consisted of different colored / different strength rubber slings for partial support while learning to move arm again. Specifically the exercise I remember was walking my fingers UP the wall daily with bands for support. You might not need a doctor but the physical therapist may save your arm.

I’ve blown a disc in my back and your pain is likely a pinched nerve in your cervical. My advice is get to a chiropractor with a traction / decompression table as soon as you can. They can stretch and decompress your neck and or upper back to relieve the pain in your arm. Blessings and prayers for a speedy recovery!

Wait until Europe is in complete multicultural mode like America, with two demographics utilizing an absorbent amount of resources more than they contribute, we have well over 25-million illegal aliens that use our healthcare system 'free of charge' that aren't even registered on our books 😅. Two major demographics that make up 30% of our population, have 50% of their households utilizing welfare. Also, what portion of your countries GDP goes to MIL / Defense spending? America spends more (taxes) on its military than every country on Earth combined. Try to spend even a fraction of what we do in Europe and see how quickly the system falls apart.

Yeah. I've tried to get in for my annual physical twice now, but had to leave the first time, since they "parked" me in a PUBLIC area for 20+ minutes - during a frackin' PANDEMIC... The second time I requested an appointment (with stipulations what I will and will not put up with,) they just never got back to me. So, yes. Frack hospitals and Drs.

Isn't it wonderful how our instincts and reflexes trigger when we are holding a baby. I fell down a flight of stairs once while holding a two year old . Somehow through that whole tumble she never touched the ground or got her head hit at all. When I landed I was still holding her up off the ground. I still don't know how I did that. Im an Occupational therapist assitant of course the first thing I would say is get that shoulder checked but don't blame you with the situation right now. If you can lift it at all I would probably little by little every day work it but not over do it. If it's too hard to work you could walk the wall up with your fingers slowly and trying to increase the reach every day. If even that is too much you could use a pulley system where you hold handles with both hands and let the left upper extremity help the right extremity. Mainly the goal is to keep that range of motion and avoid a locked shoulder. Disclaimer: Getting shoulder checked is best alternative. All the rest is just what I would do if it was me. Good luck and prayers for your speedy recovery.

I crashed my skateboard in March and woke up in the ER. They told me I had the Bolognavirus even though I work at home, am never around sick people, and have not had cold symptoms in over a year. I knew they were trying to pull something since I'm a disgruntled former EMT. I told them I didn't believe them, pulled their tubes out of my arm and skateboarded home with blue hospital pants on.

Wintergreen is very good for muscle pain. I used it last Thanksgiving when I could barely move around the kitchen to cook a turkey by the end of the day I was feeling much better.

A speedy recovery would be nice, but don't count on it. I dislocated my shoulder badly at work early this spring, I looked at web md and many other sites, they all said 12 to 16 weeks recovery time. I was able to work after two or three weeks, but it was a good three months before I was back to full range and power. It's the overhead reach which takes longest to come back.

For the most part you pay via a negotiated price (that you negotiate) and "Liberty Healthshare" pays you back. I pay $275 month, $500 annual deductable. There is a one million dollar cap for each ailment. FYI - They are a Christian based organization.

I should have just stayed home. still don't have the bill, they had my address from 25 years ago and i haven't seen it yet. i got them to update it, i'm sure i'll see it. i went back to work the following day, took a few days to fully recover.

Oh, my goodness! You are so right! Going to a hospital is like a death sentence. Go in, get put on a ventilator, and toodles. Or "escape" the vent and get a chip attached or embedded for easy tracing surveilling and inventorying. Geez what sticky times we are in. You are so right not to go to a hospital. However you do need physical rest and relaxation and water so that your magic body can heal from the trauma of yesterday's "body slam" for lack of a better term. Godspeed. Take good care. We will be here when you return from your convalescence.

On your injured arm, try lifting it shoulder high in front of you, arm extended, as if you were going to do a nassi salute, then relax the arm if successful. Then following the same pattern, see if you can raise the arm up along the arc until straight over your head. Then with your arm down again, try raising it along your side, arm extended, until shoulder height and relax. Then follow the same pattern, raise it over your head. If successful in all these, you may have escaped worse injury. If not, see what the doctor thinks, as potentially bursitis can set in and leave you impaired unless treated. Four lifts, two front, two sideways. Hope they do well.

Thankfully there are several muscles working together in the shoulder and PT strengthened them enough to take over for the injured one and I’m very thankful. Get checked out- your family needs you.

Sorry about the injury. Plenty of more qualified have commented on treatment. To reduce future risk, don't use polypropylene ropes on outdoor stuff since sunlight decays it in about 6 months. Nylon is only fair since it absorbs water and cold winters really mess it up. Your best bet is dacron/polyester - look for it at sailing/boating sites. Get the cheapest single braid or 3 stranded from a good manufacturer's (Samson, New England Ropes, ...) marine line and it will be so much better than any hardware store stuff. Polyester/Dacron goes about 5 years in sunlight and weather, so replace it every 3 years or so in safety applications. You could go with Manila, but make sure it is well oiled and inspect each year. Hemp rope has to be waterproofed with some kind of "deck soup" mixture (turpentine, linseed oil, pine tar, beeswax) or it will rot from the inside out.
