Scott can you do a review on Lexus 200h
This is my Lexus I heard Scotty say he moved to my town so when I got a Lexus I took it over to his house. His crescent shaped driveway full of Toyotas he’s polished to perfection. They twinkle and sparkle😆One thing I always liked as a Toyota fan is the confirmation bias I get from Scotty telling what I already know about superiority of Toyota engineering. Evidently I didn’t make a mistake. I asked him to tell me what parts I need to get the car ready to roll. He couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I didn’t expect to find one with such low miles. Anyway he’s exactly the same in person that’s the other thing I like. He doesn’t pretend to be anything else but who he is. Weird thing is I realized my money is of no use to him. What’s he going to do with money?😆 So hopefully he benefits from this video.Whatever it is he’s certainly earned it. Thanks Scotty!(2003 ES300 is on the way for work vehicle. Black n red interior. It’s real nice)

Our 2002 es300 was totaled the week before Christmas when a lady pulled out in front of our daughter. While we are ever grateful she was ok, as well as the other driver, the aged ole statement that cars can be replaced doesn't really apply here. Man, that was the best car I've ever owned. People hate on 4 cylinder turbos way too much. Just make sure you do your oil changes on time and theyll last 200-300k easy. Plenty of ford ecoboost make it that long without any major repairs so why couldnt toyotas

Watch the review from Car Care Nut about RX. I would pick a 3.5 previous year
@BigBear--
Жыл бұрын
The reason some 4 cylinder turbos get a bad name is mainly due to bad maintenance. If you listen to the manufacturers and try to run them on the extended oil drain intervals, that's how you end up killing the turbocharger. The oil lines get clogged with gunk, and the turbos become underfed, or the gunk build up creates additional friction and heat, and they eventually let go. Make sure to use quality full synthetic oil and quality oil filters, and change it every 3000-5000 miles and you'll have no problem making the engine last. Personally I have no problem with even having to change the turbo itself if and when needed. Its usually under $2,000. For me it's worth it to change something like that every 150-200K miles for the performance and tunability it offers.

I just bought a 2015 RX. I'm picking it up tomorrow. I took it to a dealer to have it checked out and they said I needed to change the spark plugs.
I saw a Celica like yours zipping through Athens Georgia last week, and I thought to my self as it passed by "what a great looking car"... I wish they still made them like that. Seemingly 'big ticket' repairs & maintenance on my older rust free Tundra performed at a conscientious dealership beats the hell out of trading in on a new truck. I will keep this 2002 going as long as possible.

I have the same 3.3 engine in my 2006 Toyota Solara. Really good engine, horsepower, quiet and good mpg too.
I think 1998-2005 Lexus gs300 was the pinnacle of their engineering… great videos Scotty. I wish I had half your arm movements.
The ES350 that I purchased back in 2012, which now has 80,000 miles, has had flawless performance in every respect, including a quiet, luxury ride and plenty of smooth acceleration at any speed. I can't imagine a better car. The only very minor compromise that I've noticed with it is that it takes sharp curves more like a boat than a sports car. Well, it's probably hard to have everything for less than $100K. And the Lexus dealer has tried selling replacement parts that the car doesn't need (at least yet). I thought I'd be replacing this car in ten years, as I've always done with my cars in the past. But given my experience with the ES 350, that's now completely out of the question.
I am amazed at how much you produce @scotty! Thank you for the content every day.
The B2324 4 cylinder engine they put in the Saab 9000 was bullet proof, and plenty smooth with a counter-rotating balancing chain. Reached peak torque at 1800rpm, came with 225HP/252ft-lb stock, the majority of them later tuned to 300HP+ and ran for half a million miles without blinking. Mine had that much on it when I sold it a few years ago, and I still wish I had kept it and restored it (succumbed to rust and my wife's insistence at having side airbags). Problems with the engine or turbo were exceedingly rare. Ironically, the V6 variant of the car was the one with the poor reputation, and everyone knew to avoid it.
I ordered a 2022 ES last year. Got it in July and was totaled in Oct. everyone was ok but I will definitely order one this yr. Think the 4 cylinders are coming to the ES sooner than we think.
Scotty, the ES330 and ES350 top out at about 142. When Lexus came about one of their requirements was that any Lexus be faster than a Mercedes. Even my mom's 1998 ES300 topped out at 140+.
Thank You so much Scotty I actually was going to ask you like did you have a video on the Lexus IS cuz I needed to know when I don't know the model switched or whatever I got a twenty-year-old 300 RX and it still runs phenomenally I had to switch a shifter cable in it when I first got it and and that's that just recently my heat went out so I don't know what that's all about I saw it another video that said I could reset it so I'm going to try that first before I start pumping out cash but thank you so much for your videos they're all so informative
I have 05 lexus sc430. I will never get rid of it. I unfortunatley wrecked the front end but i got it replaced and with upkeep everything with it works perfectly. I love it so much and it handles like a real race car
100 percent correct Scotty. I am ordering a new ES 350 with the 3.5 V6 because I think that will be it for that engine. No way I am buying a 4cly RX. Lexus needs to give their head a shake with all this F Sport nonsense and turbos.

In how much $$ do you buy it? Because i am planning to buy same year ans model because it have luxury features.
I've been thinking this for quite some time. Not just Toyota/Lexus but other manufacturers (BMW, Buick, Chevy, Ford, and more) put smaller displacement turbos in mid/full size cars, crossovers, and mid-size SUV's trying to keep the performance decent/good while boosting the mileage. But they only deliver good mileage off-boost, and since the engine in naturally aspirated form is undersized/underpowered for the vehicle, drivers will tend to drive at higher-RPM's where they have some boost. which puts the fuel economy right back where it would have been with a bigger engine. Also, power delivery is peaky (mostly a problem with little I4 Turbos trying to lug a crossover or SUV around), they're noisier, and they tend to wear out sooner because of the stresses turbocharging puts on an engine. So, compared to older models with V6 and V8 engines you get a car with a noisy, less refined engine that's harder to drive smoothly, won't last as long, and improves your mileage by only a tiny amount, if any at all.
@Argedis
Жыл бұрын
Like Scotty said it's cheaper for them to build a 4 cyl and slap a turbo on it. They get to satisfy the EPA MPG numbers on 'simulated' tests and make cheaper engines.
Looks like a pleasant neighborhood. That lawn is in pretty rough shape though!
Scott's correct. I went from 6Cyl t0 2.0 Turbo charged and it IS choppy...sometimes when the Turbo kicks in I have to look in my rearview to make sure i wasn't tail ended by the vehicle behind me....hah!
I've been waiting for Scotty to address the issue of Lexus switching to the 4 cylinder, turbo-charged engine. I have a 2019 and a 2021 Lexus RX 350, both with the 6 cylinder engines, which are pretty great. I could hardly believe it when I first heard they were changing to these 4/turbos. What a huge mistake, IMO and in Scotty's. Glad we got ours before the change.

Lucky I still kept my 1993 Previa LE, with naturally aspirated engine now with 280K miles on the original engine, transmission, and drive train. Gas consumption is still the same as when I bought it and it never looses oil during interval oil changes at 5K miles. They built those vehicles well those times. I think I will have to keep it for as long as I can, anyway car registration and maintenance costs are cheap for vehicles like this.
Thank you Scott for all the good information. I purchased a Lexus I made sure to look for the logo made in Japan. I traded a 2020 Honda crv. It rode like crap compared to the Lexus...fyi Honda was. Made in mexico
The Sienna uses the same engine you think is wonderful. The Previa van engine leaked oil like crazy since it was laid down sideways, from the valve cover. The Toyota Tundra has always been made in Texas. The most dependable long lasting full size pickup there is. So the USA can build good vehicles if they want to!
I have a Volvo with a 5 cylinder inline turbo. It is rated 23 mpg in city 29 on highway but I consistently get 3 to 5 mpg better. Is it because it has very low miles or is the computer wrong or did Volvo used to make superior high quality cars? Thanks Scotty love the videos. 2013 Volvo s60 t5
Hi Scotty, You are right every time ofcourse. The Subaru Diesel with turbo that they sell in Europe are really crap. I think its about 2016. I have been looking at the 2023 Lexus RX to replace my Highlander, and I was soooo bummed to learn they dropped the V6. Seriously, they want me to pay $60K for a 4 cylinder? Get outta here. I may take a look at the new 2023 Honda Pilot that still has a V6 or a Genesis GV80.
Could not agree more with you! I will stick with my 2012 gs450h for as long as possible.😊
Scotty what do you think of a lx470 2002 with 178k miles
EPA thank you for all this

What would we do without the government to save us from ourselves?
What’s up Scotty from Long Island.
For the record, I'm very much ANTI-tuhrboh, at least in GAS cars (they definitely have their place in diesels). That said, one advantage a FWD blown 4 has over a comparably powered FWD V6 is weight distribution. The FWD V6 will be significantly nose-heavier and will understeer more. The 4 will have better F-R weight balance and thus more neutral handling. Probably the tuhrboh's only real-world advantage.
Scottie Kilmer I need your help please? I have a 2007 IS 250 4 wheel drive. The car smells like rotten eggs. So replaced the catalytic converters, 2 off the engine and the 2 attached to the muffler pipes. Now all the lights are tripped. Took to Lexus they scanned the car. Replaced the relay sensor, lights came off then went back on. So Lexus understood that the engine manifold with cats was replaced but not the original part. So they suggested welding all openings on it. I have more power now, yeah, got home and the lights came back on the dashboard. What do you suggest?
Everybody loves Scottie!
I have a 2019 ES350 with an NA V6. It’s a fabulous car.
So why does diesel engines ( they have turbochargers and higher cylinder pressures that GDI engines) last so long??
Scotty can you ask the dealership where your car is made before purchase, even for pre-order?
Do the new Celia's have a groinal socket like kryten?
Love Red Dwarf!!!
When did Lexus switch to the 4 cylinder engines in the ES models?
I need to know what Lexus models I need buy and what year range I’m looking now
Love the show and very interesting!
The current ES does not have a turbo engine - yet. It can be had with a 35. V-6 or an excellent non-turbo 4 cylinder hybrid.
So can you make a list of car modes after 2019 that are reliable, with automatic transmission ?
I will be happy to keep my 2004 Ford Taurus with a buttery smooth 3.0L V-6, and an ultra reliable 4 speed automatic transmission. Had it for 6 years with zero issues. I want nothing to do with an engine that needs a turbo charger to get the power. As they say, "There is no replacement for displacement."

What about being able to change the spark plugs on these Lexus V6?
Thank bro.
does the 3.5 v6 has the engine timing cover design flaw that causes oil leak as mentioned in the car care nuts?
My Lexus es 350 2013 is still going strong and rides like a dream.
I want a 2006 lexus es330 black with black interior but I think the 3.0l 1mzfe is not an interference engine I do know the 3.3l is. Would be cool to swap the 3.3l into my 2002 solara and swap it to a 5 speed manaul
What is the best car for going sideways? Small wheels vs big wheels
great- just bought a 2016 nx with turbo back in november but it was made in japan does that help?????? ughhhhhhh
Hi Scotty, how about 2011 Lexus es 350 sedan 4d?
“Case closed!” Mic drop, I mean hood slam. 😂😂😂
My grandma has a 2019 Lexus RX350L, and Toyota’s cruise control must be weird cuz when you go to decrease the speed on the cruise control, the transmission downshifts heavily like you’re getting ready to drop a gear & disappear
Just bought a 2010 rx 350 with 170k miles. I’m not worried at all, thing runs like a brand new car and I plan to keep it for at least the next 5 years!!!
